Also, what would the USA use (I suppose they had gotten aroung to making their own planes)?

They used French aircraft, I think.

How the hell am I going to catch Allenby?

You won't ;) At this rate I'll have 3,000 posts and a custom avatar by next Tuesday :D

US : I meant around 1918 and after. Level 1 and level 2 will be the french ones with US markings (or maybe the "Morane Saulnier H" as level 1, as the US were a bit behind the times at first) but I think the US military would have started using their own designs after a while.

Would this link http://www.aviation-central.com/1919-1939/ad000.htm be of any help? :)

Congratulations Gwalcmai on 1000 posts. But I have realized that it is pointless to attempt to 'catch up' to Allenby. I would have to spend all day on this forum posting. It should be noted that I would need to have all the posts either be one word answers or at most one sentence. And that would be just to catch up not surpass. :)

Thank you.

Checking the profiles, we'd definitely would need to increase spam-rate quite a lot to reach him. You're averaging just over one post a day. I seem to spam the boards a lot more, with 3,38 a day, but even that's nowhere near the incredible 5,88 Allenby has.

And I expect he'll now answer this with some one-liner just to make sure. :)

Certainly not - I'd just like to ensure that this thread is used for what it was designed for....the reporting of bugs. :)

Montenegro

I beliave that some of you might have seen Montenegro armies to been wiped out in the game start.The reason i beliave is that althought they have some industry to produse supplies their country has no resources so the IC there is pointless.If we put the minimum of 5 Coal and 2 Steel then this is solved.

Other bugs :-
Flu epidemic always hits The British empire in January 1914.

Lots of Austro-Hungarian border provences dont have enough infra-structure to support an army units.

If the war starts and the entente (ie France) is not in it, you cant declare war on the central powers. Eg 1914 Serbia and British Empire versus Germany and AH.

If Serbia is defeated when the war is confined to AH and Serbia, the war never ends.

AH contour bomber has a monoplane WW2 fighter bomber sprite.

French auto defeat and the treaty of Strasbourg gives a rediculous amount of resources to AH +20000 of everything, also they get the resources even if AH was never at war with France.

This is due to a typing error in the file db\events\influenza.txt, which says:
Code:
event = {
	id = 56200
	random = no
	country = ENG

	name = "The Flu Epidemic"
	desc = "A wild, new strain of the influenza virus has struck across the world.
		Nicknamed the Spanish Flu for the massive initial casualties in that
		nation, the flu is killing thousands of formerly able-bodied fighting
		men. Many of our divisions' have been struck hard and our quarantine
		efforts are immobilizing some divisions. Civilian quarantine efforts
		are also not as effective as hoped and they are doing more to spread
		fear and foster dissent against our government than any real good."
	style = 0

	trigger = {
			manpower = 50
		}

	date = { day = 2 month = january year = 1914 }
	deathdate = { day = 1 month = april year = 1919 }
	offset = 30
The date line should, I presume, be date = { day = 1 month = october year = 1918 }

Event 56201 also has a start date of January 1918, which I presume should have been October 1918.

Transports, Escort & Convoys : France

France starts the game with no transports & escorts, I assume a default set should be in place from day one to move raw materials (rubber) from Madagascar to France, (Steel) from Algeria to France, (Rubber, Steel, Oil) from Vietnam to France.

To push on with this, if I play as France I need to know how to get around the Russia not in the entente bug.

Make Russia democratic

If I am not playing France I need to know how to get round the France auto defeat bug. Please advise.

Make Italy the aggressor and Sanusia the defender in the scenario file :)

Alternatively, wait for 1.02....

To make Russia democratic, open up the russia.inc file and search for 'alignment', and change the coordinates... :)

To make Italy the aggressor, open The Great War 1914-24.eug file and find this:

Code:
war = {
        id = { type = 4713 id = 4 }
        attackers = {
            id = { type = 4713 id = 5 }
            participant = { U02 }
        }
        defenders = {
            id = { type = 4713 id = 6 }
            participant = { ITA }
        }

Change the aggressor to Italy, and the defenders to U02.

1.02? Within days, I'd say. :)

German Victory

having read a book i was given for xmas of a collection of 'counterfactual essays' the subject of a german victory in WWI was discussed in detail.
In addition to the annexations that have been modelled in TGW, it was highly probable that Holland would have been forced into 'economic union' with Germany.
As a result, Dutch politics and economics would be under German control. In game terms this means a puppet netherlands.
If the Germans had won WWI despite the failure of the Schlieffen plan, much later (say in 1916), Holland would most probably have been annexed outright.

In addition, a German victory may have led to the formation of a German led European Economic Union, an early equivalent to the EEC. This is an interesting idea that could be exploited to make postwar Europe more 'eventful' (if german victory is achieved).

Also, cannot some sort of simulation of the Schlieffen Plan be implemented? i know it has been discussed. I have read that Moltke, the German chief of staff saw Russia as the real threat, and therefore detached several corps to the east to aid hindenburg (von Hindenburg?) and Ludendorff, that were due to take part in the 'right flank' of the Schlieffen Plan'. Incidentally, these reinforcements arrived a few days after the German victories at Tannenburg and the masurian lakes (should these battles be simulated? Major turning point on Eastern front).
These detachments could be simulated by removing divisions from the west, adding them to force pool and then auto deploying them to the east?
i think a Schlieffen Plan multi-choice event should have significant effects on the distribution of German forces - much more so than deployed. It was Moltke's modification of the Schlieffen plan that is regarded as one of the reasons for a german defeat.

Also, after the disastrous French plan XVII (should this be simulated?), Moltke ordered a counter-attack, resulting in a similarly disastrous defeat for the Germans. This is another interesting event.

As a side note, apparently Moltke dreamed of a german Cannae (hannibal's genial two-pronged attack against a Roman army in 219BC), and it was this that inspired him to order a german counter-attack.

Having spoilt you with such a wealth of information, i demand that when either of the two entente powers (Russia/France) is defeated it sues for separate peace. The other continues fighting until it sues for peace separately (with its minor allies who have not been defeated)

Johan, Allenby, Stephen, Shadowknight, Steele, and any other relevant person I may have forgotten:

Could we do an "internal release" of 1.02b first (ie PM us all and tell us where to download) before publicising it on the forum?

I want everyone on the team to test 1.02b for any idiotic bugs that can be ironed out quickly before the "official" release. It's a hassle to release 1.02 and have 1000 new messages pop up pertaining to little errors we should've fixed before the release.

Stephen will be compiling it I presume, and perhaps he can send the files to Allenby, who I believe has everyone's email address so he can distribute it to the rest of the team.
