Yes, we will have an internal release.

I think I'm the one who's compiling it this time though. I've got all the files, and I will include a few things I've done that was missing in the first two releases also. I've also corrected the naval tech tree.

I don't know if this was already said to be a bug, I didn't read the entire thread:

I downloaded TGW mod last night, I think the latest version, whichever version is on the Website.

I did everything it said to: I downloaded it, I created a new folder inside my HoI folder called TGW, I extracted all the files from TGW Zip to the new folder, and I patched my HoI.exe.
Then, when I went to play it, it didn't change the game at all, and TGW scenario wasn't availible. So, I decided to Extract the TGW files into the main HoI Folder. Then I patched HoI.exe again just to be safe.
Then, I opened HoI, and it was differnt, and TGW scenario was availible. I selected to play it, and selected A-H, and then started the game.
Well, the game never started. When I hit Start Game, and it went to the screen where it initializes everything, it just froze, and then a box came up that said "Critical Error!", and the game couldn't start.
I tried several differnt countries, but everytime, the game would freeze while initializing, and have the same error.

ANyone know what's wrong?

Johan, Allenby, Stephen, Shadowknight, Steele, and any other relevant person I may have forgotten:

Could we do an "internal release" of 1.02b first (ie PM us all and tell us where to download) before publicising it on the forum?

I want everyone on the team to test 1.02b for any idiotic bugs that can be ironed out quickly before the "official" release. It's a hassle to release 1.02 and have 1000 new messages pop up pertaining to little errors we should've fixed before the release.

Stephen will be compiling it I presume, and perhaps he can send the files to Allenby, who I believe has everyone's email address so he can distribute it to the rest of the team.

The original plan was this - Steele compiles mod, fixes tech problems, and I email my work to him to form the completed version, which is tested and released.

The new plan is this - Johan compiles mod, fixes tech problems, and I email my work to him whereby his changes and my changes are amalgamated together, to then form the completed version. This is then released internally, tested and then released.

Glad to see that you're so sure, Johan ;):D

The version available on the website was (last time I checked) 1.00b, which is not the latest version of the mod. Also, the first problem you ran into sounds like the result of not changing the properties of the shortcut. If you don't add the name of the mod's directory at the end of the shortcut's command the game will not use the mod. Your remaining problems are "normal", unfortunately. Not a very stable version.

Anyway, even 1.01b (latest version so far) is not too usable, and carries most of those critical problems. Maybe you would be better off waiting a little for 1.02b, which should be coming in some days (best estimate available, sorry) and will, hopefully, actually allow you to do some playing.

Try this method:

1 - Have a clean HOI 1.05c install.
2 - Create a directory named "TGW" inside your HOI main directory
3 - Unpack the zip file into that new "TGW" directory
4 - Go to the directory and run the "no_time_limit_12_special.exe". Show it where HOI.exe is (your HOI main directory) so it can patch it to use the 1914-1924 time frame.
5 - Create a shortcut to the patched executable.
6 - Edit the shortcut's properties so that it runs path\Hoi.exe TGW instead of path\hoi.exe

You should have a working TGW mod. If you want to, you can create a copy of HOI.exe before doing step 4, that way you'll have a patched HOI and an unpatched one, so you can run TGW and vanilla HOI.

EDIT:

7 - (Optional) When editing the shortcut's properties, click "Change Icon", then "Browse", find the TGW dir and use the official TGW icon.

It worked for me.

Just tried to test again, using France with Russia set to democratic in the entente. This time I am stopped by Autro Hungary auto defeat. I shall return when 1.02 id released.

Okay.

Nurse! Merge this with the bugs thread please. :)

One possible (and controversial) suggestion might be to disable all the auto-defeat and surrender events that Allenby spent so much time over, by putting a # in front of the lines
event = "db\events\defeat.txt"
event = "db\events\peacetreaty.txt"
event = "db\events\revolution.txt"
in the db\events.txt file.
:) :D

  :( ;)

......yes.....that would work.....

Just in case anyone has got the wrong idea about the post that started this thread I would like to say how much I really appreciate the vast amount of work that the team has put into this development. It just gets frustrating when you really want to play something even if it is a tad buggy only to find that you can't. :)

Indeed....I get the same feeling when downloading new patches for HOI ;)

Started again : Germany Progress/Bugs

Going very well, decided to concentrate on the Russians, therefore the British are still neutral.

It is August 1914, at war with France, Serbia, Montenegro and Russia, in alliance with Astro-Hungary.

Only one bug so far :- Event Argentina Selects ‘unknown string wanted’ in election times, July 1914.

Something missed out of the text file perhaps?

I've seen that also, but I can't explain it. It seems to only happen when a country choses to keep their government, "elect left" and "elect right" appears as normal. But the thing is, that the text string for "keep current government" is located in the text.csv file.

Transport.txt

A minor issue - should not "# 0 - Armored Transport" in the transport.txt that comes with 1.02 be replaced with '#2 - Armored Transport''. :)

Irish Third Home Rule Event CTD

Playing as Britain, The Germans selected "Concenetrate on the Russians" under "the Schiefflen Plan" which kept Britain neutral. The event "Third Irish Home Rule Act" comes up about 6 August 1914. If the option for Irish Home Rule is selected, the game CTDs. If Ireland remains British is selected, it does not (You still get to deal with the immediate 25% dissent increase.).

Gota love the job you guys are doing:

Playing as the USA

1) No convoys set up
2) Not enough transports to set up a decent amount of convoys to colonial holdings.
3) Crashed around the end of 1914, unfortunately I don't have a save file. Happened just after the War broke out, presumably because of one of the chain events.

1. i think its well known enough 'latvia , estonia , lithuania declares indepence 'event crashes to the desktop

2. i donnow if it is a bug or what but, for Ottoman when i bought Rio De Jenario nothin happened

3. also Germany ai should be fixed a bit..because they dont have enough troops near strassburg and colmar so they re gettin beaten by France..

4. when i was playin with Ottoman , i easily get Kuwait and north Egypt..i think English forces should protect Egypt much more also they should invade with amphibious assault kuwait and basrah with about 20 division..(it was so in real)

5. also i think artillery researches should give more bonuses to soft attack

by the way pretty good job guys..thanks
