New Patch makes game unplayable

steam just downloaded a patch for the game.

Now when I start, the Animated Centurian no longer displays. It is blank with just the UI.

There is also no pointer, I had to alt-tab out and back in for the pointer to show up.

When I start the prologue the narration starts to play but there is no "movie"

Again, I had to alt-tab out and back in for the movie to show up.

Once the intro is over and the map shows up, the Hints never show up. Thus the UI is grayed out and there is nothing I can do to progress forward.

The pointer becomes invisible as well.

Anyone else having this problem?

Ya I just bought the game a few hours ago and tried to play for the first time, same issues. Was a little concerned my download was corrupt or the game didn't want to work on my PC.

Is the performance at least better with the last patch? A friend of mine says he can now play the game in High settings fluently, before he could only play on low/medium with acceptable FPS.

Since this patch is out, i can't play KA II on Steam.
It says server are outloaded. And i can't download it, even with a different server location.
I reboot and I uninstalled the game and now I can't download the whole game..
However, i can install or upgrade others games.

Do you have a solution?

The solution is two posts above yours. In case you somehow missed it, they know the patch has problems and they are working hard to resolve them.

Have you tried verifying the integrity of game cache, through STEAM?

It usually finds around 100+ files it needs to gather that are out of sync. But thats just my experience. The problem seems to be with Steam, because once that is done, I can play the game. Ive had to do this for most updates for this game to get it to work... cant help but to try...

I prefer to inform them but I don't know if this problem come from Steam or Neocore..

Still the same problem here. Black menu screen and no cursor, with dramatically inflated loading times, like 3-4 minutes to even reach the main menu.

Have you tried this?

Right click on the game in your list of games, then choose properties from the menu, then UPDATE from the tab.

Otherwise, you'll have to delete the local content and reinstall the entire thing again.

I have the same problem with the cursor.
In the mainmenu I have to Alt-Tab twice to see the Windows cursor in the game.
On the map gamemap the cursor is also not visible. Alt-Tab twice will show the windows cursor again, but as soon as I go over a tooltip the cursor is gone.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and a Logitech mouse

Its not fixed. No mouse cursor. I missing the game before come the patch .

Files were all correct after verifying cache and didn't need to download anything extra, loaded the game and still the same problem. I don't see how a complete reinstall will help considering all the files currently installed are correct.

The latest patch was 50 odd MB's in size.

EDIT: Ok the main menu picture came back for me running it in DX9 mode, 64 bit. But the cursor is still not visible. No picture or cursor running in DX10 and 11 with 64bit .Exe
