steam just downloaded a patch for the game.

Now when I start, the Animated Centurian no longer displays. It is blank with just the UI.

There is also no pointer, I had to alt-tab out and back in for the pointer to show up.

When I start the prologue the narration starts to play but there is no "movie"

Again, I had to alt-tab out and back in for the movie to show up.

Once the intro is over and the map shows up, the Hints never show up. Thus the UI is grayed out and there is nothing I can do to progress forward.

The pointer becomes invisible as well.

Anyone else having this problem?

No mouse cursor here either, Windows 7 64bit with latest AMD graphics card driver (I updated today). I downloaded the game again an hour ago but it still shows v1.0.05 so I'm not sure if the new patch is in effect already....

Same here. No cursor. Sulla seems to be missing from the menu as well. Though after verifying the files on Steam he came back. Now he is missing again :) Cursor doesn't appear no matter what. Everything worked fine up till yesterday. Looks like todays patch(es) broke the game for me.
Win7 Home 64 bit on my system.

Interestingly, I downloaded the demo a moment ago and there, everything works just fine. Maybe it is some Steam related problem? (Demo is not linked to Steam).

I reckon Steam may be causing problems with the game in general because starting KA2 using steam renders the game completely unplayable for me (stuttering slideshow on battle map). But when using the 64 bit .exe's in the game folder it runs much better even if the framerate is still a bit low.

Better is better. :)

Same problem with me. I'm running Windows 7 Home, 64 bit on a Raedon HD 5670, updated drivers, dual 1600x900 monitors. When I boot the game, the version shows v1.0.05, I get a message from Windows saying that the color scheme is being chagned to Windows 7 Basic for comaptiblilty reasons. I may or may not get Sulla on the menu screen, but I get no mouse cursor until I mouse over the second montitor. Then I get the Windows system cursor. Same situation in game, but the system curosor is only visible until I mouse over a tool tip, when it vanishes again.

I hope that helps, and look forward to the next patch.

Yes, I have this exact problem as well. Radeon 5770; dual monitors Win 7 x64; Steam

Is anybody non-Steam who has experienced this problem? Because the suggestion was made on the last page to rebuild Steam caches, and run the game, again. I've found that often solves issues with other games.

Booted the game up about 10 min ago. It works fine now (speed wise)

But I now have localization errors - Instead of the various hover/pop up texts when you however over an skill icon/button I get the string value.

E.g. instead of displaying "Resurrection" I get "campaign.morality.heroskillmorality.hero.resurrection" or something to that effect.

Also some of the adventure Icons (the ones that are displayed next to the choices you make on the scroll adventures) are missing. It shows as White Squares.

I only play through about 10 min of the game. The errors are cosmetic errors, the game seems to work fine.

This latest patch tonight caused new problems for me. After conquering the rest of the roman provinces during the civil war portion the provinces stay grey on the map even though I took all the buildings in them, the quest won't complete. I can't add them as fiefs but I can upgrade the buildings in them.

I predict some launch problems. 27.1 supposed to be launch day on Steam...now its 28.1 Delay after Delay i see

Ugh this is really starting to get frustrating now, i understand that games have issues and stuff but when i bought the game i didn't realise i'd have to wait nearly a month until i could play it

And of course, if the game is released and it has so much as a single problem, bug, or glitch...the two of you (and many others) would be on here screaming bloody murder about wasting your money, the ethics of using the commercial public as a final open Beta, and how there are no good games left these days because everything is 'rushed to release.'

I guess there's just no keeping some people happy. They complain if the game is late, they complain if the game is early (and unpolished). It appears that, despite the fact that a cursory search of the reviews and internet forum posts for ANY game released in the past ten years will clearly show that no game is ever released in a pristine state, some of you still expect no less than absolute perfection for your $35.
