I know there has been much discussion of this but there doesn’t seem to be a dedicated thread to draw it to CO's attention. Let me know if there is!
We need to be able to create and mod policies that control which buildings grow where – especially if we want to create collections of building styles, and for testing our models in game. This could pull a ‘tag’ in the asset – in the same way that must already happen for industry specialisations. It must appear in the native UI – ideally under city planning policies. It must disable other buildings that do not have the tag.
CO themselves probably need to do this to allow them to make DLC, for example European buildings. Are they going to lock us out of doing this? Or just make it work in the same way as the specialisations - this would be cumbersome in UI terms.
Questions:
1. Has anyone found a way to do this? If not why not, what’s the block?
2. How does it work for specialisations? That would be a good start to cracking the above.
3. If it’s not currently possible, do you think this is a priority or is there something more pressing for CO to enable modding of?
4. What ideas for the use of this feature do you have? Why should CO bother allowing it?
One idea from me – several sets of ordinary British buildings for different time periods
