Agreed. I only tried it once last night though, I didnt close it down and reload the ed tool up again so maybe it just didnt take the first time. I definately only had 200 or so chars, .............................

Another possibility - maybe the Black Death wiped out all but 200 of them!!

:D :D :D

Crashes!

The CrusaderEd tool's been crashing on me! The savegame size is pretty large though (20+ MB) - is that the problem? Says there's an access violation or something in the exe. I'm using the 1.02 patch.

Great work! Glad to see this tool takign shape.
Any chance it could have a "country cousin" section added that

A. Checks for characters without mother/father
B. Checks for any title claims on that character
C. Checks for wife/children

And lists all those who have none of the above on a list for easy deletion. Maybe more work than you want to put in :) But thanks for your work on this so far.

Its crashing on me to. its chugging along for awhile, last night I let it go 15min on one file. In the end it couldnt read either of the ones I had. Might be the save file size, who knows.

New Version
Fixed a few minor bugs
Added the ability to remove/create marriages
All 'tag' values have hints showing the actual country
Added a character filter
(you can for instance choose to display all Christian unmarried females
with a diplomacy skill above 9 ... )

Richmond516 : Try it again with the new version. If it still crashes could you
mail me a zipped savegame file?

If there are any features you would like to see, or any additional filters
that you think could be useful please tell me.

Could you integrate the DNA maker thinger into the crusaderEd program?

Have you done that already and I missed the boat? :)

Solmyr - What sorting tabs?

I seem to recall that the previous version had the ability to sort characters in the list alphabetically by name or surname. Can't find any way to do it in the current version.

Also, I wouldn't mind the ability to select and delete multiple characters at once, as well as the mapping of the Del key to deleting a character. Would help a ton with purging the random cousins.

New version

Added a 'Titled/Untitled' and a 'Alive/Dead' filter

Integrated the DnaMaker program
(It was more work to add a image tab than it was to integrate the
DnaMaker)

Mapped F9 to 'Delete character'. The program now checks if the person
you are trying to remove have a title, a claim or are married and
warns you if that’s the case.

Multiple selections are difficult to implement since the selection is used to
set the character data display.

The program supports indexed sorting. Click on a header (e.g. 'Dynasty')
to set the first sorting column, then shift-click to set the second and so on
This works on most of the grids.

Something not being checked for safe removal of the fatherless "country cousins" I think.

I sorted the list by fathers so the list starts with the characters without fathers. Then held F9 down and deleted all ... skipping (leaving alone) any who came up with a pop-up warning. (20 minutes later ...my god there was 1000s of them) Saved then loaded game and the scenario crashed. I guess someone was deleted that had something the game still needed ..wether it be child, title, dead wife ...shrug.

Great work so far though :)

Ah never mind it was my own fault for not checking the mother colum also. I knew there could be chars with no mother listed (bastards) but not that there could be chars listed with no father but a mother listed (where'd they come from?).

Will redoadn check again.

No Joy :(

Sorted list by fathers, then sorted (shift click) by mothers. Now list shows all chars with no mother or father. Pressed and held F9 and removed all, again leaving alone any with the pop-up warning. Saved ..started game ...crashed at the end of the loading game sequence.

Could it be that when a new court is formed the game spawns random court members who are not 'country cousins' (ie dont have the -50 prestige) who may be assigned positions like marshal. I think that the position held is stored in the character though so it should be deleted along with the character.

Some other field needed to be checked before allowing safe deletion?

Eureka!
Got it to work yay!
I was thinking that there is a chance (if a very small chance) that one of the country cousins could have at some point got a title, had a bastard child then promptly died ...which would have resulted in a character entry with no parents, no titles, no claims and no wife, but still required by the game because of the bastard child.

So this time I used your filters set to ... parentless, male, alive, older than 20, untitled and unmarried.

Deleted all again skipping the ones with claims ..and it worked! :)

Bad news is I also now have deleted all the court members for new courts who recently formed which contained random generated members (the half decent ones you get at first). So a request for another 2 filter options please:
1. Prestige greater than/less than #
2. Has claims/has no claims

Minor things but would make it better I think. Thanks much for your work.

The beginning of every dynasty lack a father and mother,
otherwise the number of chars would be endless.
Checking for children is a bit tricky (but not impossible) since the character
definition only states parents not children.

I'm going to add a prestige filter tomorrow, that should make it
easier to sort out the unwanted cousins.

Does anyone know if a 'country cousin' can lead an army?
