Having the game end in the last decades is a delicate balance, since apart from ikko-ikki and arquebuses we have nothing that really changes at certain dates. What we had 2 weeks ago was that in hands-off games the ai usually became shogun somewhere 1585-1610 and that the biggest clan around 1550 usually broke down as a cause of internal or external plots. The ai has gotten better at winning the game since and now wins 50 years too early. Hopefully we'll get it balanced for the patch.

Well I do appreciate the that this problem (depending on your standpoint, it is imo) is because the AI is too good! Bravo!(?)

Would it be possible to add war exhaustion to the game? It could decrease relations with vassals and increase revolt risk in the provinces. Province improvements could also decrease it, so that in late game you're able to fight bigger and longer wars.

Don't know if something like this is too much for a patch, but I'd hope something along those lines would get added at least in the expansion when the time comes.
