I think PDX fundamentally doesn't understand the problem most people have with this DLC, its not that the content is flawed (although the amount of bugs, people without portraits or fantasy ministers is astonishingly bad). Its that there is an acute lack of content.
Iraq's fascist tree for example is only featuring the things that happened historically more or less, with some focuses for conquest, without the transfer of oil rights to Germany and without the unification of Syria, Lebanon with Iraq and without the transfer of Vichy weapons to Iraq. There is no creativity here, no spinning the story further by getting some help with the navy from Japan, no interaction with Yemen. There is a complete lack of a proper communist path. The Kurdish path has been improved but still makes no sense, it also not attractive to play you have a civil war and then you can fight Turkey and Iran and France for your core territories and those core territories aren't even that valuable in terms of manpower, resources and infrastructure.

The Iraqi democratic path is lackluster, the monarchist path restrictive since it forces you to use Abdallah and you have this weird thing were you get puppets and no fast way to annex them. Afghanistan lacks any path to really form an empire. Iran's fascist path is ahistorical, boring and uninspired. The Islamic Revolution path that was initially advertised is a small boring path that takes way too much time and doesn't give you anything. Iran lacks focuses for steel despite the plans existing and being about to be implemented for a complete and complex steel production.

PDX doesn't just need to adjust a few focuses and fix a few bugs it needs to rebuild focus trees, its needs to add new branches and it needs to get GoE to at least the quality level of ToA.

The shared focus tree makes even less sense. There is no ideological alignment necessary, the bonuses are overpowered and you need s shared faction for some of them with not direct path to do so. The shared focuses for the Nordic countries made sense, but it was integrated into the rest of the focus trees. This feels like a scrambled together bandaid to fix a messed up DLC.

100% agree here, I respect the devs owning up to mistakes and using April to improve the DLC, but the month is almost done. I liked the Indian communist branch, the generals added to Afghanistan and the focus adjustments to Iran, but that's not enough in my opinion, India is the most playable and fleshed out of all these countries and still lacks a truly loyalist path. Iran needs more changes to its tree, just like Afghanistan, and Iraq doesn't even feel like it was made to be played by a human at all ( The entire Iraqi focus tree is a mess at best). The lack of content and perspective/means to achieve objectives as most of these nations are honestly sad, most army focuses are still just research. God knows how long it would take for a War Effort patch to actually address all of that.
I love this game and appreciate the Developers efforts, but when playing most of these nations my biggest issue is not falling asleep, and it's not a scope problem, it's a content problem.

Performance
  • Improve performance of French and Russian localization

Our recent, and still incoming, updates
Good direction, but still a few insights:
Still missing historical areas to core, like Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan etc. (Could be part of Memphis Initiative)
All of Baluchistan cannot be cored, only north Baluchistan is coreable.
Spelling mistake in "Tabriz to Mashhad" focus, in the description it says "Masshad" which is wrong.
No way to demand annexation? For Iraq and Afghanistan, either this or make a solution to UK guaranteeing Iraq, completely ruining any expansion.
No way to bring back Qajars as a normal tree, leading to some interesting expansion and politics? (Other than being a british puppet)
No way to create resistance or demand Azerbaijan, Armenia etc from the USSR?

A suggestion as well to create more flavour:

Iran should have the option to choose which direction it wants to go, a Sassanid path which leads to a smaller nation, with cores on Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan etc, but packs a big punch in industry, research etc. You focus more on internal developement then at external expansion in the end. This path is more pacifist, but has a more "tall" playstyle. The Achaemenid is where you reach peak Iran, in terms of area and population. You focus on early expansion conquering the Middle east and former Achaemenid territories, then you focus on consolidating it.
In the end of this branch there could maybe be options to take on former enemies of the Achaemenids like we have now, where you get some cores and wargoals against Greece/Byzantium. These could be great for people with different playstyles letting you do more interesting paths.

These could also be part of the otherwise lackluster Fascist tree, either this or a different fascist paths with more flavour and less conquering!

These are suggestions for Graveyard of Empire that is now under minor development again!

Some focus trees change the owner and/or controller of states, like australia getting control of malaya is known, I guess. Another one is somehow turkey suddenly becoming the owner (not controller) of several states that were controlled by the british at the game start. This happens without any notification.

I, playing as India took over those states during the Independence War, so became owner of those states after the peace event. But because turkey became the owner later I can't use resource prospecting decisions.

Let us take resource prospecting decisions as occupiers (even if after high compliance).

I completely agree with @Duke_Dave and @Rachidelson. My post was only for Iran cause that’s the nation ik about the most and that focus tree was a more complete one compared to the Iraqi and Afghan one. If this nation pack was on par with TOA I woudnt be as mad cause it seems like those nations had some proper love put into them. I’m sure when we all heard additions to the DLC we expected more, not Goterdamerun Germany levels but atleast Austria, Hungary and Belgian levels. These focuses really feel outdated in their content and design. You’re lucky if atleast one path has some love and flavour put in. I’m not calling the devs lazy or anything but it seems like they were really uninspired or lacked vision. If country packs are a way for some nations to get focuses I rather they don’t get it at all and wait for major expansions to give em a focus

A bit off topic but wouldnt it be good to grant the italian east africa puppet (the one formed by decision) the same focus tree the italian ethiopia puppet gets when you form them in the peace conference instead of the generic one.

Would be way more flavorfull and basicly no extra work for paradox

I reported two bugs (rather ai missbehaviour) in these two reports. Will be anything done about this? I mean not like in a specific timeframe, rather if this is any topic at all for paradox especialy the one about the Reichskommissariats severly damages historical germany (most played nation).

Reichskomissariats:

Swiss historical path cant be taken by ai:

India have a focus that gives -0.2 combat width.
This is cumulative with the doctrine Mass Assault? Or maybe it is only useful for other doctrines.

Anyway, the Indian tree seems to be the most elaborate in this DLC. But I hate dealing with civil wars… Trying to find out if there is a way out without civil war.

Maybe I am wrong but I know it is possible to take back Goa from Portugal with a conflit fight but it seems that it is not possible with french Pondicherry? Maybe I am mistaking?

If so, would it be possible to allow it so India can take back all it's lands without launching a war?

Man couldnt have putted it any better 100%%%%%%%%% Agree this DLC makes you question if the ToA, Gotd and the current DLC were made by the same company.
Its day and night difference.

Just did a quick speed run to see if I could avoid the Civil War as Democratic Afghanistan. I was able to get to about 48%, before the influence tipped against me (was pushing it up via Communist raids, I didn't want to Ban Communism as I was RP into a Dem-Socialist Republic). I think it is now plausible to get to about 50% democratic support, only and only if you ban both communism and fascism. It feels a bit anti-democratic, but that strat might work. Right now the biggest barrier for Democratic Afghanistan is the +0.10 Non-Aligned growth from Pashtunwali. I suggest this:

- Decrease Pashtunwali's Non-Aligned boost to about +0.08 or +0.06.
#This should be sufficient for the Democratic growth to naturally "overpower" it after the Democratic Influx and Democratic Influence (from Look for Other Partners) goes away, because right now with that and rushing the Non-Aligned trait for the King in "He who puts his trust in God" eventually gives Non-Aligned a +0.02 or +0.04 (depends on whether or not you're suppressing the Communists).

I came up with some more suggestions:
- Change the name of the Communist party of Afghanistan from "Socialist Party of Afghanistan" to "People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan"
- Change the current communist flag to this one, since this was the first flag of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, with a decision to change it to the current one, similar to how Fascist Chile can change their flag
1744918390691.png

- Add a new Flag for when you become the Socialist Republics of Central Asia
- Add variants of the Afghan-Pakistan Confederacy Flag for Communist/Fascist/Non Aligned Afghanistan
- Upon starting the Communist Civil War, Nisar Muhammad Yousafzai should be added as a Field Marshal, since he had military experience
- Vitaly Primakov (Already in the game as a starting Soviet General that will be purged if the Focus "The Military Conspiracy" is completed) and Aleksandr Cherepanov (Already in the game as a general for the first Chinese nation to complete de focus "Invite Soviet Advisers"), should be added to Afghanistan as generals if the focus "Request Soviet Aid" is completed before they are purged/send to China.

Taking Goa and Pondicherry should be possible with the democratic path and Netaji path. Tested with the Netaji path (few patches ago) and portugal and France agrees to give back the territories.

@PDX_Gorion, I appreciate all the work the studio has been doing on the GoE and your efforts in particular, but as someone not really interested in separate country packs per se I have to ask a question which many more of us players could probably relate themsevles to: when can we expect a similarly sized persistent patching and overhauling campaign happening to the core game itself and some key expansions? Without diving too deep into the past, even the GOT introduced many obvious bugs which are still not even confirmed publicly, let alone fixed. Is such a maintenance campaign planned at all? E.g. saving the designs is great and has probably been one of the most anticipated QoL-features ever, but there's just so much more left behind :)
