Why does your board say Dan, 'the man' when your name is pronounced 'Don'? I hope someone got fired over this error, it's an embarrassment to the entire Paradox corporation

its not actually pronounced "Don" though, there is a definite "a" in there. Once I went bowling abroad though and they got my name wrong/wrote Don so I got to feel like a mafia boss for the night ;)

I've been pronouncing it 'Don' in my head all along, now I feel like such a fool. Is it short for anything, like Danathon, Doniel, Danald or perhaps Danley?

nope, 3 letters only, optimized for arcade games :)

hmmm, is "both" too much of a cop out? V3 in single player and HoI4 in multiplayer?

How many Project Lead do you have at Paradox anyway?
I know Besuchov for EU4, then I'm guessing you for one of the secret games and Doomdark for CK2 and the other secret game?

Lets see.
Besuchov - EU4 (Conquest of paradise)
Podcat - Secret Project
Doomdark - in change of CK2 and a secret project
Birken - One secret project

I'm pretty satisfied with that answer. Are those your two favorite PDS franchises?

Tough one. I think Victoria is probably my favorite marginally followed by HoI. But the rest are close seconds.

... But Armstrong is not actually one of them. It could be just a change of internal rules... or it could be a very important clue. Armstrong, a former astronaut becoming president in an alternative world... that's a sci-fi PDS game!!!!

Or it could just be Podcat trolling by referring to this guy

The correct pronunciation is "Don de mon".

We have moved from president names now, other projects use emperor names. I'm sort of a rebel so my project is actually neither because I got to pick it in between. There is a vague hint in the first post as to which Armstrong this might be (not that it will help you figure out what it is :D)

EDIT: Damn you Groogy I wanted to string them along :(

How do you define that? Examples?.

You know, it's like near future sci fi... but HARDCORE! EVERYBODY IS AN ACTION HERO! 'Xplosions everywhere With constant AC/DC in the background. At-least what I imagine when I read that.

Any favorites? At these digital times people can really narrow their interest to certain niches, if they want. Applies for games as well as books. I mostly read only historical novels and hard-core near-future scifi.

I like dark and preferably wacky or fucked up. Real physical laws are overrated. I did like Red Mars though.
Here is a list of favorites, in no particular order:
- Everything by Alastair Reynolds, Chasm City in particular (revelation space was kinda shit I guess but required for the rest of his books)
- The Forever War
- A Fire Upon the Deep, Vernor Vinge
- The gap cycle books by Donaldson
- Use of Weapons, by Banks (reading this atm)
- Enders game + sequels (not as keen on the new ones with Bean and buddies. also yes movie was good)
- Time Enough for Love by Heinlein (probably my favorite by him)
- The Stars My Destination by Bester
- Pandora's Star by Hamilton
- Hyperion by Simmons
- I sometimes read Honor Harrington books. Literally, and especially character wise, they are a bit shit but the military aspects are good and they contain 6-legged telepathic cats.

200 other books I currently forgot :(

non-sci-fi wise my all time favourite books are the Dark Tower books by Stephen king. actually they can probably be classified as sci-fi as well, they do have cyborg bears.

I like alt-history books in the sort of "Forest Gump" tradition. Cryptonomicon by stephenson about ww2 crypto warfare and also his Baroque Cycle about 17th century money and science.

Pulled pork is delicious, I had it for dinner last night. And tank slippers are pretty cool.

You like sci-fi. You like cats. Does the word Felysian mean anything to you?

sadly not :(

Did you manage to get past the ending of the Dark Tower series without cringing though?

I loved that series right til then...

I loved the ending, it felt very appropriate for Roland and how the world worked. In fact I'm not sure any other ending would have made sense. The only negative of the last book was that I kinda felt that Mordred should have had a bigger role though for the amount of pages dedicated to him

Have you noticed how popular podcat is, compared to most other devs? :)

Not too wierd considering my amazing posting and humble personality

Yeah, i did. I like him very much too.
I think of him always as some kind of less weird "Groogy" :)

less wierd??? sounds like I need to step up my game then
