Sadly this reminds me a bit of when DoJ (HERO games) sold their Champions IP to Cryptic, and the multistage mess that came after that.

Hopefully it turns out better.

Stellaris cannot be changed for something else I'm afraid. Anyone that backed it, including late backers, are eligible for this.

I understand, thanks anyway :)
You never find out if you never ask ;)

Does this mean we will get a gift copy in e.g. Steam?
I actually don't know at this point and I can't check until tomorrow (it's a public holiday in Sweden yet her I am... :p). My guess would be that it's added to the pledge manager in kickstarter, like we did with forum codes, but I'll get that confirmed tomorrow.

Again thank you, for being so dedicated to the job (I hope they give you another day off, or overtime pay ;) ) and for being so open.
If so, I think I might use my code as a competition reward or something.

We gave them money to make BATTLETECH, and they did. What they do after that, to insure continued success.. has zero to do with the Kickstarter.
Ahah I was talking about the money I gave to paradox buying CKII, EUseries; STELLARIS, HOI etc... I meant that as a "paradox-fan" (and buyers) I approve the move they made

Good for them. I'm sure they will make lots of money together.

This likely means HBS future products with convoluted DLC policies and no more DRM free.

They're saying that Battletech will continue to be available on GOG.

I hope all things in this will be a positive. One of the things that I loved most about HBS was their active interaction with the community. I feel like this has already lessened to some extent with Paradox employees establishing themselves as a new Tier between the customers and HBS. The first step was the moving of the BattleTech forum to Paradox and then the relative silence from HBS since the game release. I know that it may be nothing more than them catching their breath and savoring their success but I miss the constant back and forth dialogue that I used to read on the forums. I hope Jordan, Mitch, Mike. and others will continue to interact with the community on a regular baiss. That is the best PR a company can have, in my opinion.

The other thing that gives me pause is some of the admitted regrets that Jordan has expressed about losing control of his IP due to selling parts of it to other companies. Now, he has been a part of creating another success and once again sells it off. Of course, I do not know any of the details about who officially gets control of what but hopefully Jordan learned from past mistakes and protected the IP to the best of his ability on this go-round.

All PDX games on steam so far have been DRM free (and work offline only if you start them directly from the game folder instead of the steam client.).

How would i acquire my (Steam?) Copy of Stellaris?
I guess a Code will be added to my Battletech Backerkit in the coming Days or how will this work?
If you already know of Course.
