Another week, another release of https://mods.paradoxplaza.com

This week the following has been deployed:
  • Beauty! Or at least mouseover effects and correction of some layout bugs
  • Direct download. You no longer need to use the PDX Launcher to use the mods hosted as they can now be downloaded directly from the website. This should be good news for our Stellaris GOG users as an alternative to the Steam workshop.

Not to mention EA/Origin users, yes?

On another note - A new version of the launcher, 1.0-beta31, is available. This is just a maintenance release with various bug fixes so not super-exciting new features but hopefully will bring us to a slightly less "beta" beta.

It won't install, Installation stops with message that indicates there's a issue with Windows Installer Package. Opened ticket with details with no remedy from support. Just bought full version of Surviving Mars but can't install it bc of launcher road block.

You can install and play the game via Steam. Go into
https://accounts.paradoxplaza.com/settings
and connect to your Steam account, then
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?account/owneditems
and hit Sync Owned Items.

Launcher version 1.0-beta32, has been deployed. This is another release mainly focused on state-keeping bug fixes, the main one being the fix to the unintended "jump to news section".

If I'm not mistaken, the launcher should auto-update, shouldn't it?

I've tried running it with my user account and with administrative rights and it doesn't seem to update :(

It should indeed update itself. We have had some sporadic reports of update failures, even though it seems most launchers manage the update process - Reproducing the behaviour has proven difficult. But now we have a verified case which is great! ;)

Could I perhaps persuade you to send your bootstrapper.log and cpatch.log found in your "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Paradox Interactive\bootstrapper" directory to our support, maybe even with a reference to this post. That would help us a lot in figuring out how to get a solid repro!

My bad! User fault!

I was launching the "Paradox Launcher" from an icon I have in the main Windows toolbar (where the Start menu resides). But thet icon was pointing directly to the "Launcher.exe" binary ("D:\Juegos\Paradox\launcher\Paradox Launcher.exe") and not the bootstrapper executed by the icon created by the installer in the "Start Menu", which runs "D:\Juegos\Paradox\bootstrapper\Bootstrapper.exe".

Tried running as Administrator from the Star Menu Icon and it worked like charm :)

Paradox, can you please change the default installation path of the Paradox Launcher to be a hidden folder on Linux?

Instead of "~/paradoxlauncher" make it "~/.paradoxlauncher" (adding a dot in front of the folder name makes the folder hidden).

Or perhaps move it into the folder reserved for local user-owned programs: "~/.local/share/paradoxlauncher".

While I know that the installer lets me customize the launcher's install path, good default settings are important.

A new version of PDX Mods have been released unto an unsuspecting world. This time the main new thing is the ability to specify dependencies / requirements that are needed for your mod to work - And conversely for the mod user to easily see what is needed for the mod to work. Requirements for both DLC and other mods are supported.

The intent is for future versions of the launcher to offer the option of automatically downloading any requirements for your selected mods.

And so the wait for Friday beers commences... ;)

@Deuterium Oxide It seems that the new Gold Edition of Tyranny does not install any DLCs, just the base game when installed via our launcher. I assume there is some repository that needs to be updated accordingly?

That was indeed the case - The problem should be remedied now!
Thanks! Should that take effect on the Linux launcher also? Or we need to do a separate update for that?

Good morning,on the Paradox store page of Distant Stars,it is mentioned the only available platform is Steam.I'm on Linux.
I think it's a bug.So i report it for it can be fixed if it's a bug. Thanks in advance for any reply about this.
Cordially.

I have verified that purchasing Distant Stars in the PDX Store does in fact enable installation and play through the launcher. All is well with the world. Now on to nag on our store manager about tagging it appropriately!
