Did you run the launcher as the Windows Admin user? Logged into it with your Paradox account? Hit that Refresh button?

If so I'm not sure what your issue could be. I don't see Stellaris in your icons here, have you hit the Sync Owned Items button recently?

Please attach here this log:

Hi,

I am on Linux and just fired up 1.0-beta-34 (did not install the launcher before).
It does not show my only game (Tyranny) - but it shows up in the web account.
Log is attached. Manually creating "games" folder does nothing but removes the error message about missing folder when I push "refresh".

Alas, Tyranny has not seen a release on the PDX distribution platform for Linux. It would generally be up to the game teams to produce such a build, but as you might know, Tyranny is no longer being developed - and Obsidian is otherwise engaged! ;)

@Deuterium Oxide : Is there any plan to repackage the 1.3.2-418R version of Battletech? It's not working on Windows through the Launcher, it seems to be targeting some Linux / Mono(!?) stuff for the audio engine. The previous version (1.3.1-417R) is working fine, as does the Steam version.

A fix for the broken deploy should be out, since yesterday actually. There seems to be an issue with the game modifying its own files, meaning you might have to run the launcher (or the game directly) as administrator if it's installed in "Program Files" - which is the default installation path. We are looking into producing a better workaround for this.

The last two Stellaris patches that came out (when I updated from 2.1.2 to 2.2.2.1, and from there to 2.2.3, I didn't patch in between at all), the launcher told me I have to own the games to update them. Logging out of the launcher and back in fixed the issue (rebooting the computer, which is what I tried first the first time, did not.) Don't know if it has anything to do with the fact I purchased the game through GOG and all DLC straight through paradox. It works fine once I log out and back in, though. Same issue both times, same fix both times.

Hello everybody,
I moved to a new laptop and cannot download my old Paradox games - HOI III, Semper Fi, Arsenal of Democracy, Darkest Hour, etc. I set up a Steam account and they aren't there. My Paradox Launcher doesn't have them. My Paradox account lists them as my games but there's a "Manage" button only on each of them. No download button.

Please point me in the right direction, please.

The Paradox launcher cannot run any of those games. It only runs newer games from Stellaris onwards.

You need to download those games from wherever you got them in the first place. We do not and never did host downloads for them. Possibilities include Steam, Amazon, GamersGate, Impulse ...

Hi ! Do you mean that all the "ancient" games will never be managed by the PDX Launcher or is it only temporary ?

Off-topic quick question : is there a section to post suggestions or is it here ? (I already filled the survey from the launcher)

That has not been addressed by any official announcement, so far as I know. I think games that have ceased having patches released are very unlikely to be so modified, but that's just a guess.

Suggestions for launcher functionality? I guess here is as good as anywhere.

Suggestions for launcher functionality? I guess here is as good as anywhere.

Thanks for your answers.

Ok so here I go with some suggestions :
  1. Making older games available. I own PDX old games on GOG or Steam that I love to play but some are missing on those platforms (Two Thrones for example, that is not compatible with Win10 of course). I know it is a very specific thing to ask and PDX won't make very much money with such a feature, but it could be a very nice gift to old fans who still enjoy outdated games.
And to sum this idea up, I would say that every PDS game, present or past, could be reunited on this platform (if the launcher is supposed to be the first step in creating PDX's independent platform of course).
  2. Sync achivements and playing time from other platforms. I have this weird and hard to understand (even for myself) pride about my playing time on some games, and knowing I will "lose" them if I stop playing on Steam or GOG is a small brake in my mind when I think to install a game like Stellaris with the launcher (on which I have barely 400h and 57 achievements on Steam). Weird I know, but if our PDX accounts can sync these features, I will have no reason to not use the PDX launcher.
  3. The ability to choose where to install a game.
  4. The ability to cancel an install in process.
  5. An additional "news" tab but focused on the latest and/or hottest community additions (mods, screenshots, etc...)
  6. On the launcher web page it is asked what kind of stats we would like to see collected and shown to us about our playing habits. I guess that already a lot of good ideas came from players, so I would just add one that I am really looking for : the number of units/soldiers we lost and we killed all time, all games taken together. One stat like this for every player but also the total from all players. Should be fun to see how insane those numbers will be ! ^^
Thank you for reading and sorry for my terrible english.

All very good ideas, @Gogote54 ! For point #2, the first step would be having the play time & achivements from the PDX Launcher version only. Later then add optional sync through GOG/Steam. In the meantime, a simple tab showing achivements would be perfect, just loading what is already shown on the accounts.paradoxplaza.com / achievements web page.

My own suggestion would be to open source the launcher's code ;-), well at least the client so the community could open pull requests for features and fixes.

btw your English is fine, at least to my French-Canadian eyes... ;-)

Thanks for your answer (and your kind words about my english^^).
You made an interesting point. I suppose that centralising everything on the pdxplaza could be an effective and more flexible solution in the long run.

Despite the fact that I am not a skilled coder, I would totally agree with you about open-source. Experience so far has shown that many good things come from open devs with an active community. Since pdx likes to create and "grow" positive exchanges with us, I don't see why it would not be working. :)

A tantôt cher cousin des Amériques ! :-D

  • Making older games available.

This is more involved than how it might at first appear. Really old games make very little money, meaning that it's hard to recuperate the invested effort in supporting them. Newer but out-of-development games are typically tied to Steam in ways that necessitate development effort. This effort might be profitable in itself, but would eat into development of our newer (also unreleased or even unannounced) games, meaning an opportunity cost that is hard to offset. New games typically go onto the PDX Distribution platform though.

Some old titles might be released in the future, but please don't hold your breath! We have a bit more to do than we strictly have time for (though we always have time for vacation! ;) )

  • Sync achivements and playing time from other platforms.

Typically new titles will give you the same achievements on the "native" platform and with PDX. For old titles... nope. See above!

  • The ability to choose where to install a game.

This is on the roadmap, but a bit down the line. Rest assured we'll get there eventually!

  • The ability to cancel an install in process.

Same as above, though this is probably closer at hand.

  • An additional "news" tab but focused on the latest and/or hottest community additions (mods, screenshots, etc...)

The groundwork for this was done in recent launcher releases - We'll work with better content curation going forward. Hopefully, you'll be pleased once we get it up anbd running!

Several game teams are actually looking at this type of stat collection already! I can't really divulge too much about it though, you'll have to wait and see! ;)

The fundamental problem I have with the launcher is that I already own all the games it can deploy *and that I want to play* via Steam, so it seems the first game I'm likely to deploy this way will be Imperator.

Before that, however, something that's needed urgently is an equivalent to Steam Workshop. My days of accepting the inconvenience of having to manually d/l and sync files, getting them in the right place and so on, are long gone.

Unless, of course, the Paradox Launcher can tie into mods installed via SW?

No, not via Steam Workshop (being that the launcher cannot assume that the user has a Steam account) but you can use the launcher to install / update mods from https://mods.paradoxplaza.com - At the moment, we only host Stellaris and Cities (XBox version) mods there, but we hope to expand it in the future.
