patch wont work

stupid question: i have the australian disc, which gives me version 1.0. i download a patch (not knowing whether i should use the north american one or the other one on offer), install it, and find that the game doesn't recognise my disc anymore.

which patch should i download, or is there simply not one for the version that shipped to australia?

i'm very quickly getting tired of the game crashing on me all the time and would like to upgrade to a more stable version. if it crashes once more i'm going back to civ iii.....

any aussies on the board that can help?

I have the exact same problem ;-(

I bought the game (1.00 version) a few days ago (I'm in Melbourne), got hooked, then had my first CtD (Crash to Desktop). It's not so drastically unstable that it makes gameplay unpleasant, but it was enough to make me get the patch.
So I download it, install it, and it turns out that it won't recognise the CD now. Everyone in Australia or New Zealand seems to have the same problem.
There is a thread about this in the support forum, but basically the response seems to be a run-around. I guess Paradox didn't expect Australians would go for this product... well they were wrong... when I saw this in the store, I basically stood for about ten minutes drooling, then placed the game on the counter. I really do hope they do get a working patch for all us down under people sorted out... the game is so good otherwise that it's a shame for simple version incompatibilities to cause these kinds of nuisances.

Contact the publisher of that version.

We simply provide the code+files for each publisher so that they can make patch-files.

One of our Members phoned Ozisoft and was told that Strategy First would be hosting the 1.04 Patch for their (Ozisoft) version. It should be on the SF site sometime this week.

This was posted on 29-04-02.

Last I heard, Strategy First was waiting for the disc to prepare a patch.

I'll see if I can reach Nabil tonight and ask him if there are any new development.

Thanks Patric. I had thought a much. I've been eagerly awaiting 1.05 before I purchase EUII. Now finally the time is at hand!
