I didn't care about this before since I thought it would just be name for a concept, a name that does not have to appear in the game.

But since for some reason they decided to include it in the UI anyway, I have to add my voice to the chorus:

Literally anything else.

There are no nations to be "inter". Even "interstate" would be better, since there are more states than nations in the game.

Still think that "Grand Organization" is the best replacement. It's generic, and it fits the time period better than any of the other prefix words like "International."

What is Grand about a union between two countries? Would you consider a Jihad an organization?

I still think there isn't a need for an in-game name this.

Did you see that they are using "International Organization Variable" as a subtitle for Imperial Authority? (It is even in blue so it will have its own tool tip.) I wonder if Legitimacy or Horde Unity will be labeled as "Government Variable" or "Country Variable".

I think even Power Bloc from Victoria 3 might be more fitting as international organization sounds too much like something from the 20th century onwards.

I'd happily go with "League". Not as modern as "International Organization", conveys the same message, historical ("Hanseatic League").
League is way too focused. The Catholic Church is not a league, a Personal Union is not a league, the Tatar Yoke is not a league, etc. They are organizations, however. Just since it's such a general term.

Perhaps, but it sounds way more immersive. "Organization" sounds like something straight from the XX century.

I agree it is more immersive. I wish we could find something neutral. Like "International Body" or something.

But I still am predisposed to giving it some Latin name or something... "Ordo Internationalis" or something epic like that.

"International" (also its Latin version) sounds too modern as well since there was no "nations" back then...

There's also "association". I'm not a native speaker, but it doesn't sound as modern as "organization" to me. And I'd say it doesn't require the "international" part.

So... Crossborder association? Or countries association?

Multilateral accords? Concordiums, for the fake latinization?

Alternatively, simply 'Leagues' or 'Compacts' would suffice, as they inherently convey the organization's international standing. These terms indicate that it is more than a mere single tag and as a name work effectively in both hierarchical and horizontal structures.

I like 'compact' as it implies agreements between entities.

if "nation" or "international" bothers you the half- jesting and half-serous suggested use of "tag" should be used, because multiple tags interact or share interactions.

So:
- MTT multi tag transaction
- IO intertag organization

What about Entity?

Btw, there are no random or generic IOs, all of them are historical and scripted, hence, all of them can be categorised into political, military, diplomatic, religios etc. So there is no need to use only one universal adjective to be shown in UI.
