selectable tactics before going into battle would be a nice way to give players at least some control over the outcome of the battle. i have yet to encounter a paradox battle that allows for david vs goliath moments. history's full of smaller forces defeating larger ones.

Is the goal really to simply extent the building periods over time, or is it to artificially prevent large empires from building stuff they can afford by adding another limit in the equation, like Magistrates did?

Another problem with the magistrate system is that it required frequent pausing to start more projects. I hope some sort of queue system will be added.

Also will tech help improve what monarchs can do? Realm size? It seems very punishing a system for countries who want to expand otherwise.

The Death and Taxes mod added the feature to turn on automatic building so it is very doable at least from the EU3 Engine

Doable, sure. Hell, I have a custom personal mod for that very purpose, D&T's didn't exactly do what I wanted to do and I had too much free time on my hands.

I'm a big believer in mods, however, they only go so far. Good vanilla experience is very important, and in some ways, DW was a step back from HTTT, so I'm definitely hoping the devs will improve certain gameplay aspects. Namely all those I say need improvements.

Is there a chance that it will be automated (so that wars can be conducted without player micromanaging them)? AI would need the same code anyway...

Reducing micro during wars? I'd give my son's life to see that implemented.

(I write that whilst having no sons, so my risk is quite limited :), sadly it's wishful thinking imho)

A mechanic like "Take General X, give him Y troops, tell him to attack the enemy Z" would be wonderful, the problem would be scripting it, it would be a nightmare.

As a first step I would like to simply declare war and press the button telling AI to conduct the campaign. This alone would make MP games much more attractive.

In the future I would also like to be able to have some more specific orders outlying strategic plan, such as "siege coastal provinces and avoid major battles", "seek and destroy enemy's large armies first", "conserve manpower" etc... but that obviously adds much more work on UI and AI.
