What I don't get is why every achievement has to be ironman only. I mean is that really necessary just for the ck2 “get married” achievement and the like?

Those very easy achievements have different purpose. They are here to provide statistics of how many players use Ironman mode.

I don't get the OP, he/she complains about "gamer elitism" because people like that achievements require a level playing field, yet he/she cares about achievements in the first place?
I used to play non-Ironman because the constant saving was unbearable in my old computer and I had plenty of fun, but now that I can play it properly I can't see myself going back to non-Ironman, and I haven't had a corrupted save in over 1000 hours of playing EU4 Ironman, not saying it doesn't happen but it must be such a tiny minority of games that it's not worth bothering about.

Sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too, you want to get achievements, but you don't want to have to 'achieve' them. I know I'm never gonna get The Three Mountains or even World Conqueror and I'm just fine with that.

I think the big problem is having a game with over a thousand hours logged on steam, but not having a single achievement because you haven't played ironman mode. I always play with mods, many of which make the game harder/more balanced. Since ironman mode doesn't allow mods, I don't play ironman mode. Even when I complete a difficult challenge, especially when its more difficult than vanilla thanks to my mod selection, the game refuses to give me a cookie because of the "guilty before proven innocent" system were it assumes your cheating unless you are completely unable to. I'm not asking for the removal of the old achievements, which would be as hard as before and just as prestigious. I'm asking for the devs to to a ctrl+f, find ironman mode = on and switch to if ironmode man = on give achievement, if not ironman mode = on give achievement_b with a second set of achievements literally copied and pasted from the original list with a prefix like "silver". I could do it in, at most, half an hour and I'm incompetent with coding in the Clausewitz engine. It takes nothing away from the original system, and throws a bone to modaholics like myself who think "vanilla" is a dirty word. If your not playing with bugfixes, Omega, more dangerous rebels, and anti-blobbing systems, then where's the challenge? I may be incompetent at everything I do, digital and in real life, including Eu4, but I don't play on easy mode either.

It does not assume you are cheating. Achievements require that you fulfill certain criteria. Whether that be control 5 planets or control 5 planets without mods in Ironman mode, isn't up to you to decide. It is up to the game developers to set the requirements for achievements.

If you fulfill the requirements to unlock an achievement, it will unlock, if you fail to fulfill all of the requirements than you have failed to achieve the achievement.
