Are we really limited to 4x4 plot size? If yes, then this is really disappointing. For one, how are we supposed to have skyscrapers, malls, condos and all that stuff with only a pathetic 4x4 space? And another thing someone pointed out that is very worrying is that apparently skyscrapers are plopped, which is just something that ruins the game, atleast for me.

I think CO should really look into this. These two things are at the very base of the game and could determine whether it will be succesful or not.

Not just full-on shopping malls, but even things like big supermarkets (Walmart, Tesco, Carrefour etc) would look ridiculous squeezed onto a 4x4 plot.

The skyscrapers not spawning by themselves could be a problem for me depending on how it's implemented. It was a special feeling in SimCity 4 when you earned your first scraper and seen it going into construction. Hopefully it will be implemented in a good way somehow. Things like mega-malls, casino's, condo settlements, large industrial warehouses, golf courses, and even skyscrapers, could just use a development application system. You get an application pop up on your screen asking for permission to build large scale projects from the developers, like the mega-mall in SimCity 4. You could then plop it in where you want it, avoiding the 4x4 restriction. After all, big developments usually require more Govt interaction than a houses construction.

One thing that they have mentioned is that zoned buildings are within the plot size. Plopped buildings can go out much bigger then that. That's probably why skyscrapers are plopped.

Yup, I think that's how it's going to work... but I'm not a fan of the idea. Lik you say for SC4, having skyscrapers growing in a city feels like a trophy.
It will still be there, but not as "natural" as watchin it appearing on its own.

Yes I have to say one of my favorite things from simcity 4 was trying to have a good CBD where the skyscrapers would grow. Each new one got me very excited. If a few skyscrapers were unlockable and then be plopped to grow, I guess that would be okay. But i would want most skyscrapers to grow from the zones.

I like that idea, +1 from me! Also then the investors will hold the offer only open for a limited time and demand some infrastructure availible.

Want to build metropolis like this

My first post.:)

One visual think came to my mind about tall buildings. Skyscrapers should look unique because they catch the players eye. Taller the building more special it should be. I don't want that the city high density center area will eventually have 20 alike buildings. At low density suburbia houses can look alike like in real world they usually do.

I don't have a problem with plopped skyscrapers. Buildings of that size and height would have to go through special planning processes anyway, it's not like they just get built wherever in real cities. It also adds extra control to how your city will look, letting you build them in the areas where they'll look the best and be the most effective.

To me this is a "must fix deal breaker" kind of thing.

Zone sizes have to be larger than 4X4, and all skyscrapers should grow organically. I don't want to be plopping my skyscrapers, and even Sim City 4 had zones sizes larger than 4X4.. This needs to be fixed. This is the biggest flaw I see in this game so far.

Things like huge supermarkets and malls aren't something you see every two streets. There's usually three or four as much in the great majority of cities, and they are usually built with special building permits as they don't fit the common comercial building, so I would find it natural that they come as ploppable, like the private schools came in SC4. In fact I would prefer it, as that would let me put them at the city's outskirts and plan the necessary parking lots and public transport in advance, plus highway conections if necessary.
