  • Victoria 2
POPs are the best design "invention" of the PDS.

Please add spacePOPs.

  • In order for a tile to produce something we need to assign workers on it. Per population point we have a "workers unit" available. But beware: Just like a roleplaying character each population unit has individual qualities that Stellaris generates based on the initially selected national characteristics - for example "industrious" (good!) or "xenophobic" (bad if other races live on the planet) .
But I hope we also get proper POPs like in Victoria, with needs, background, ideology and so on. I need my space aristocrats ;)

i like the idea of more than 1 population type. but i think for a Space game the Victoria system with way to detailed.

As far as I remember, this has already been stated multiple times. The answer seems to still be yes.

The most complex thing in Victoria to simulate are IIRC how the pop get promoted to class of worker to another, and how the simulation assign them automatically to work on production (either factories or RGO).
Basically everything economy related was ambitious but a bit shaky and unstable.

On the political side of thing however the various opinions and ideologies of pops worked quite well and wouldn't be too hard to replicate on a game on the scale of stellaris

According to the translation of one of the German previews it atleast seems like the Worker units will behave a bit like Pops. Now the question is if this is true or false and on what scale the Pops exist (what is a population point exactly). Is it 1 Pop pr. 1 million people or what scale are we talking, whatever a population point is :p.

Look at the announcement on twitch. They confirmed it directly as they announce the game. They talk about POPs in the presentation and the QA.
Ah, alright then, thank you.

Going from the quote about population being workers I'd hazard a guess that it'll be pop light. A worker is a pop, no promotions of any sort. However a worker has issues it cares about and religion, (culture?,) needs and desires will change depending on circumstances.

Sounds like it might be the vicky system, but without the insane complexity Vicky has. I provisionally approve of this, as long as I can institute the Imperial Cult :)

And yea, they should be fun POPs too. Every faction should have their own POP model depicting their societal structure. :-D
