It's a better gpu, but only you can judge if it's worth it.

Thanks for the replys. I think it will be worth it if it's good enough. I play Total War also and it dosen't really like my graphics card. I can probably sell mine.

Do you think it will be able to max C:S?
Is it good enough to last 4 years or something? Wouldn't want to have to buy a new again after a year :)

I don't think it will max CSL. For that you need something like this. It's better than recommended. It will probably last four years.

Laptop:
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
- GeForce GT 640M LE (Kepler), 2 GB
- 12 GB ram
- Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit
- 500 GB SSD

OK?
Its hard do say because on the official NVIDIA site that card has a range of possible configurations.
Donwload and run GPU-Z, post us the screenshot of its diagnostics, if you really want a better estimation of its power.

Eitherway, it will run.

Laptop
Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.4GHz (Turbo 3.4 GHz)
1TB Hard Drive.
8GB RAM.
NVIDIA GTX850M 2GB-VRAM.
-My biggest concern is that I only get 2.4 Ghz and I dont really know what the turbo means? Is turbo just when running low consumption activities so it goes faster?

gpu better than minimum, cpu better than recommended. Read more about turbo here

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.40 GHz
8GB RAM
Nvidia GTX560 TI

Not sure how if it will survive...
Above minimum

:-( That's a bit of a bummer. What if I replace the GPU with this:

Intel Core2Quad Q9550@3.7GH (2008)
4GB RAM
ASUS HD7870 2GB VRAM
Win7 x64

Thanks for answering!
Better than minimum

Greetings everyone, first time posting in the forums. I have a Sony Vaio T15 series that I use primarily for gaming (noob mistake). My specs are as follows:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3537U CPU @ 2.00GHz
Manufacturer Intel
Speed 2.0 GHz
Number of Cores 4
Video Card Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Manufacturer Intel
Chipset Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Dedicated Memory 32 MB
Total Memory 1.8 GB
Memory 8.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 (build 9200), 64-bit
Service Pack 0
Size 64 Bit
Edition Basic

How badly do you think my paltry speed and crappy gpu will hamper my experience?

On a side note, I'm extremely interested in building a desktop specifically for this game and a few others. I want to start with an i7 as my base as I expect hyperthreading will become more common. Thanks in advance for the replies!

Welcome to the forum

Intel gpu are not supported, so we don't know how well they will perform. A intel hd 4000 is way lower than minimum.

For a desktop gpu Nvidia 780 will give you good value for your money. Add 16Gb and a SSD and you will have a good gaming rig.
