After the Holy League between the Kingdom of Spain, Principality of Lorraine and the Kingdom of Poland was formed in 1520, cooperation between them resulted in two wars against France, both in Lorraine's advantage, providing the conquest of Provence and expansion of the territory controlled by the Duchy of Hainaut, enabling the formation of the Kingdom of Lotharingia. Another cooperation between members of the Holy League was the aid of 5,000 Lorrainian soldiers in the destruction of the Aztecs by the Spanish Crown, and ultimately the counterattack by Lorraine's forces against the Kingdom of Bohemia, saving Poland from disaster in its military campaign against the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Bohemia.

The campaign continues, this time focusing more on the New World.
The Kings of Lotharingia not only invested in the colonization of the New World, but also fought colonial wars against England and Portugal, emerging victorious in the wars and taking a large part of their colonial possessions. This is how Philippe II entered the 18th century leading Lotharingia, having fought from the occupation of Portugal to the War of the Polish Succession where it was necessary to sack Moscow, enemies in the war.

Junge Römer, tanzen anders als die Anderen

eu4_154.png

It started with the March 19th dev diary. New content for Hungary, Bohemia, Germany and Austria would come with the by then not yet named expansion, including all-new mission trees. This inspired my to finally do the AEIOU achievement, since new expansion releases can be wonky especially whenever old expansion content interacts with new expansion content.

The start was pretty standard. Ally electors, akky Burgundy, PU Bohemia, PU Hungary, PU Milan. BI happened in 1483, and hailed in my beginning dismantling of France in order to force the countries I made them release into the HRE. This also emboldened England, which expanded into northern France, including Paris.

The Protestant Reformation was quickly contained, luckily the Danish CoR popped in Jutland which meant I could take it relatively easily. I also started working on Poland, sadly due to having to take half of Poland to get the Restoration of Union CB on them Lithuania got rebellious and broke free. This however worked out poorly for Lithuania, as Russia quickly reduced them to an OPM on my borders. An OPM who then joined the HRE. Now it was Russia who held rightful territory of the HRE member, so I smashed into them to make them give Lithuania back their clay. The LO had escaped such a fate by being a HRE member.

In 1563 I revoked the privilegia, which meant that I started on destroying the Ottomans and invading the British home isles Wales, Scotland, Wallachia, and Bulgaria made for excellent HRE-member vassals, while I held on to Constantinople myself.

By 1660 my patience with the Spanish to get my dynasty to their throne ran out, while I had seized the Levant and Egypt from the Mamluks and had started to aggressively expand into India. By 1700 my empire looked like this (keep in mind that Iberia and Russia were held by released vassals, the timeline doesn't show those):

eu4_158.png

The eastern border of the HRE was formed by Perm, Bashkiria and Kazan, who I would feed all the way into Manchuria and in the case of Perm to Kamchatka. Persia had abused the power vacuum by the death of the Ottomans and Mamluks to became the major power in the middle east, while in India the Sultanate of Delhi remained the last major local power. In China the Wu dynasty had claimed the mandate of heaven, while their allied Shun had turned north, expanding at the expense of Oirat and Russia. Persia would be fed to two client states and Georgia, while a released (and converted) Afghanistan received significant parts of Delhi.

The conquest of east Asia was hampered by a Wu-Dai Viet-Ayutthaya hugbox, while Indonesia was its usual morass of tributary alliances. But in the end there was nothing I couldn't eventually smash through. In the northeast I established Manchu and Korea as vassals, in Indochina I popped out a client state and Khmer, in West Africa I released and fed Air, Oyo, and Fulo. In Tibet I popped out Tsang to feed northern Burma to. In Indonesia I vassalized Bali.

All these vassals had a purpose other than mitigating overextension: I needed their missionaries.

Because I knew that AEIOU, while highly annoying, was still rather easy to get, and after doing several WCs before I wanted to achieve another big challenge:

One Faith achieved.

Probably one of the least fun achivements ive ever done. Something like Victorian 3 is just speed 5x, here you have to go do boring conquest that really stopped being a challenge 200 years earlier. Also fell into the "Sweden formed Scandinavia" trap. Ugh.

Second Attempt at the Angevin Empire. Castile as PU, Norway, Palatinate, Hungary Bulgaria, Greece and Syria as Vassals.
eu4_71.png

The Start of the 16th Century marked the beginning of the Great Crusade against the Ottomans.

After securing a hold in Northern Africa and a small strip of land in North Sinai the Invasion of the Muslim World was ready.

Meanwhile Muscovy was dealing with an invasion from the Tartars.

With weakness from Austria because of the Ottomans and Vassalization of the Palatinate, Bohemia and Brandenburg Became the dominate powers in the HRE.
eu4_73.png

The End of the 17th Century the Ottoman Empire was being divided into several separate zones.

Timurids were on the rise, Muscovy survived the Tartar invasion and formed Russia
eu4_74.png

The 18th Century marked the end of the Ottomans and the beginning of the Angevin invasions of the Timurids, Portugal, Aragon and Central and Eastern Europe. which sparked a global coalition against the Angevin Empire from all of Europe, Africa and India.
eu4_75.png

Jaunpur managed to annex Delhi to form Delhi to immediately lost the city of Delhi to the Timurids who formed the Mughals.

Europe was essentially assimilated and the Commonwealth and Russia were in shambles. Korea was forming a strong empire in the East.

India was set to be invaded by the Angevin Empire.

How did you manage to eat up in 30 Years Poland, Brandenburg and Lithunia? (Your Post in the Obligatory EUIV Strange Screenshot Thread)
Have you been elected and used the HRE Vassal Swarm?
In which Year did you start your first war against the ottos?

I´m Trying a WC with Portugal, including All Blue, and after three Wars with them, (the Year is now 1729) they are still really big, holding Turkey and the whole arabian peninsular...
I have still, after integrating Austria a PU with France (they inherit Neapel-.-), a half of Germany big Ansbach and Sweden (thanks for the hint with Skandinavia) and it´s so diplo expensive of about 40 Years to integrate just one of them, so sad but one Tag WC would not be a thing...

it took more than 30 years. it took me the last 100 years to invade Germany, Aragon, Commonwealth, Russia, Persia, most a Adal, North America from Portugal and a third of India. i had way too much AE so nobody near me liked me so i had to physically invade everything except for my lucky PU with Castile, i then fed any far away province to Castile to let them deal with rebels.

First war against the Ottomans was my first invasion of Tunis and i was barely able to get a single province from them, i then waited for them to invade austria and brought the Commonwealth to split the Ottoman attention. My tactic with a strong mid/late game Ottomans is always invade Egypt first, move up the coast to Constantinople, release Greece and Syria and sometimes Bulgaria as OPM vassals for reconquest, invade Anatolia and hope i get Baghdad before Persia/Timerids do.

Brandenburg became the HRE Emporor so every time i invaded a HRE member they ended up joining and i separate peace them for 100% warscore, my previous Brandenburg cores get halted while at war with them but if you have decent vassals and manpower recovery speed you can deal with the rebels. i was able to be at war with Brandenburg over half a dozen different times within a decade using that trick. the Commonwealth was allied to Brandenburg to i was able to also separate peace them every time too. coalitions are bad for essentially only one reason, you cant separate peace nations for 100% warscore.

Ideas that will help annex faster.
espionage to lay claims on entire states and faster spy network and faster siege, diplomatic to get 20% province warscore, Influence to get 50% unjustified demands, administrative to get 25% core creation costs, offensive for faster siege, defensive for manpower recovery.

tricks i use to annex vast amount of territory
100% warscore, declare war the day truce ends, declare war on guaranteed nations to bypass truce, rotate conquests, stop caring about upgrading administration technology late game and used all the admin points to core provinces, get over 500% over-extension, essentially be in constant warfare so your vassals will help with your constant rebels, accept demands of particulists rebels to avoid 2000k+ rebels, build courthouses and other governing reduction buildings, use any excess monarch points on developing key provinces based on trade goods and location, never upgrade technology ahead of time except maybe military if you need advantage, dont be afraid of being 2 admin technologies behind (technology upgrade gets cheaper up to 20% neighbor bonus), always wait for institution to be developed before upgrading technology,

OWC is definitely possible if you use the right ideas, properly release vassals to gain reconquest claims which reduces AE and province warscore costs, become HRE Emperor, rotate your conquests, attack the day truces end so they dont join coalitions, get strong enough that countries are too scared to start a coalition, if you end up getting a coalition that blocks your expansion declare on an easy target to gain enough warscore to white peace or gain a few provinces and once truce is over immediately attack the strongest nation to scare off the others from starting a coalition. not destroying forts and letting them accumulate will help significantly slowdown and divide enemy troops and make forts have a reduced warscore loss, dealing with 5 different wars at the same time also helps .

Here is a Comparison between 1703-1820, if i can steamroll early enough i can easily get a OWC, i usually aviod nations like Poland, Austria, Russia and Spain because it would be way too easy to steamroll very easily and get a OWC but i like a chalenging beginning of campaign because after a while everything gets too easy and repetitive and like not being able to just declare on any nation at the beginning because im already too powerful.

It took awhile to decide who I wanted to play but I eventually settled on Morocco, Portugal played blocker in the Granada war so they didn't get fully conquered which allowed me to diplo vassalize Granada and with help from France and the Ottomans was able to smash them despite Castille being allied to Portugal, Venice and England who controlled the entire northern French coastline.

I capitalized on Castille's early weakness and colonized Cuba out from under them and started colonizing Columbia which naturally made France hate me which really irritated me given they only had a few provinces while I had most of it. So France broke their alliance which made further gains harder until England got abducted by Sweden in a personal union breaking their alliance with Portugal and Castille.

Eventually England broke away from Sweden and ended up being my ally which I used to beat up Castille and Portugals colonies

Allies: France (temporary), Ottomans, Naples, Great Britain.

Starting as Frankfurt I was able to form Westphalia by 1510 but Germany isn't one of my favourite places to play in the HRE mechanics are not particularly fun when it comes to expansion. But this campaign was fairly easy letting me expand quite uncontested.

Allies: Brabant>Netherlands, Denmark, Bohemia, France

The invaders have succesfully been driven out of the swamp.
Kinda sad they went with a meme Shrek achivment instead of "complete the Netherlands mission tree".
Also really fun to force the England PU, and then they break off after 7 years due to previous 250 AE. Such a fun, fun mechanic.

The New Roman Empire, finally got a full handle on how the daft Ottoman mechanics work it forces you to hold onto the eyalets because you get destroyed with decadence due to being over gov cap so it took awhile to fully complete the map. And at the start I got a couple of good events and just grabbed alliances everywhere.

Allies: France, Poland, Britain, Savoy, Qara Qoyunlu
Eyalet Subjects: Egypt, Tunis, Tougarat, Tlemcen, Morocco, Sus, Granada, Aragon (full size), Leon, Galicia, Naples, Milan, Hungary

My 91st EUIV run: Austria -> Austria-Hungary.

Austria is a country that I have wanted to try out for a long time, but I was hoping and waiting for another update for it and it finally came.

My main goals were to secure a PU with Hungary, get Burgundian inheritance and force PU Bohemia and remain as the Holy Roman Emperor. I succeeded in all of that + I managed to force vassalise Milan. The PUs, which came basically for free, gave me so much strength that defeating the Ottomans in my first war was so unexpectedly easy. It was the first step to become the dominant power of Europe. After that I secured PUs with Naples and Spain. After the Ottomans, the only threats left were France and Great Britain, but they were no match to the combined forces of Austria and Spain.

Although I failed to prevent the spread of Protestantism and Calvinism and the League War, it was very easy to defeat them and reconvert everyone back to Catholism in the 1600s.

I also made a small colonial empire, something that Austrian Empire wanted to do, but mostly failed to achieve.

My first Korea run. Struggled a little with coalitions which halted my expansion.
Xibe, Kham, Nogai, Persia, Xi and Tidore as vassals.
Borders remind me of the Mongol/Tartarian Empire Borders

eu4_86.png

Had a great start when i took advantage of the collapse of the Ming Empire.

eu4_80.png

Within a 100 years i managed to get almost the entire old Ming boundaries. Xi and Xibe are already vassals. Dai Viet and Japan were key allies in the beginning of my expansion. Oirat was a tactical ally to prevent them from invading China.

eu4_87.png

Russia quickly became the new biggest threat as i began my invasion of Northern India, Bahmanis became a key Ally in the mid-late game.
Coalitions began to form at this time

eu4_88.png

Dai Viets tributary of Dali became the breaking point of our alliance and i began my invasion of Indochina. Ottomans became my new biggest threat being th biggest and most powerful nation in the world which prompted me to seek alliances with European powers. France and Portugal weren't much of help in offensive campaigns. Bohemia on the other hand proved to be a valuable ally against the Ottomans and Russia.

eu4_90.png

Managed to get a decent chunk of North America from defensive wars against Canada and the USA

There are two conquest achievements with 1500 deadline on Ironman mode that I'm aware of. The first one is Big Blue Blob. The other one is First Toungoo Empire which requires every Burmese culture group province to be owned by the player by 1500. Since getting 100 provinces as France by 1500 sounds extremely difficult, I decided to play as Taungu instead, because their achievement seemed more doable.

20240810162844_1.jpg

20240810162953_1.jpg

Indeed, I managed to get the achievement and even more than expected, because conquering nations like Pegu was not required for the achievement, but they got conquered, because they controlled key trade provinces.

20240801212016_1.jpg

After getting the achievement, I struggled with economic issues. Had to take more and more loans and were simply not able to make enough money. At one point, I had 30 loans I think. I should have taken Trade ideas instead of Diplomatic as the first diplo idea group, because after I eventually unlocked Trade ideas, the economy started finally improving. Trade ideas is probably a must-have when playing in this part of the world. Too many trade nodes with too many exits.

Was hoping to take on the Ottomans together with Austria, but since the year was already past 1810, I no longer was motivated to get into a big war.

Taungu's achievement is fun, I had a good time playing that nation I knew nothing about. That's a nice color and a solid empire you have, but Big Blue Blob is considerably easier than the Taungu empire imo
