Hi, I tried a LAN game yersterday in 1.04b, but the save cannot be loaded by the joining player : it keeps compressing and transfering several times.
So no MP game possible :(

I asked Johan about this this morning. According to him, he made no changes that should in any way alter the way MP works, so he suggests that you either have a faulty installation of some sort (in which case, reinstall and repatch) or there's some sort of issue with one of the computers having f/w setting that aren't working correctly.

CK uses ports 2300-2400, 28800-29000 and 47400-47700

Also, if one of you has recently upgraded to WinXP SP2 then you could have issues that stem from the new firewall that they've integrated into the OS (I had problems with that myself) so you may need to tweak the settings to allow CK as an exclusion to the f/w.

If anyone else with the beat patch is having issues with MP save game transfer, please let me know and I'll delve into it further.

Thanks.

Have you tried exiting CK, deleting the save from client machine (or renaming on host machine) and then retrying. I remember a similar bug happening occasionally when setting up EU2 multiplayer.

We tried this with Solmyr just now. Client sees UNKNOWN STRING WANTED instead of the normal DL counter, host sees DL go normally. Then when DL would end, it just stays put a while, UNKNOWN STRING WANTED disappears for a moment and then it reappears and is re-DL:ing.

This is new thing beta patch, as we never have had similiar issues in 1.04a or before.

yezs exactly same thing, with the UNKNOWN STRING WANTED

And installation is good (to make it work, we had to reinstall 1.04a, but can't try new beta in MP) no SP2, no firewall :

it's working without beta patch and not working with it, wether it's a new senario or not. It's not the senario which is crashing, it's when you're trying to DL an already played save.

maybe this is fixed with 17/10 beta ? (no more tcp/IP i've seen)

So do you get this when loading a game started with the 17th Oct beta patch?

I've also experienced this problem with this beta patch and the last. The host sees the clients loading the save, then reloading, and reloading, and reloading. The clients simply see "UNKNOWN STRING WANTED."

We had the same problem in a MP game. Tried to delete files, manually unpack saves, change host and everything else suggested in this thread, nothing worked.

The client said "UNKNOWN STRING WANTED" and the host just kept reloading.

We used the 17 oct BETA patch.

I've reinstalled, repatched, downloaded the windows upgrade, and adjusted it accordingly. I still cannot load saves.
