It's been over a year since the release of Cities: Skylines 2 and we still don't have bikes. Will we get an update with bikes and all the accompanying infrastructure in the coming weeks? It's hard to build a city without including bike transport. A year seems like a long enough time to add such basic features to the game. I mean... it's a year, right?

To answer your last question: No it is not a year now, at the moment it is a bit less than 11 months.

But, yes, I would like to see bikes too. But .... well, I also miss other things

Right, I just pre-ordered in September. I looked at the purchase date. But still. In a month it will be 12 months and the post will still be relevant, I suspect.

Bear in mind that bikes came with After Dark DLC on C:S1 so they will appear here too, but on some DLC.
Yes, but it's been 9 years since the premiere of the first part. Is the second part supposed to be just a refresh of graphics? Look at what the creators of Planet Coaster are doing. In the second part they added everything that was in the base game along with the add-ons and multiplied it several times. And no, I don't agree with you. After Darks premiered right after the premiere of C:S. 6 months after the premiere. CS II is already far behind the development of the first part (we have 11 moths after a release and only a few small improvements). And they have a bigger team than they did back then.

No, it's supposed to be an entirely different game.

Yes, a sequel for a 9 year old game - of which you would think they would realize their mistake in no including bikes or a day/night cycle in the base game. But then again the devs are still completely silent and have shown nothing to give us confidence that the asset editor is actually being worked on - another thing that should have been there day 1.

Bit ignorant to be honest.

C:S2 is a rewrite. It's not as such a sequel but a completely new game. Everything has changed, so it's not a "refresh of graphics".
And because of that, old C:S1 stuff isn't included, other than some ideas from it. It was never said to be a sequel other than in the name and it was always said to be a completely new game.

And behind C:S1? No, not really. Only in the sense that DLC hasn't launched (apart from Beach Properties). Content wise, people don't remember how barebones C:S1 was within first years and especially after launch. This game has a lot more content in it than even today the basegame of C:S1 has. But it is easier to forget or ignore it than actually admit being wrong. For example trams aren't in the basegame of C:S1, overground subway's weren't added until years later, ...

And speaking of DLC, looks like the content is dropping soon. There has been a lot of activity on all DLCs, CCPs and radio stations. Even the Bridges & Ports seems to be coming soon. I bet this is the reason why content creators were flown to Finland this week.

A sequel is still a new game. It's not a story-driven game, but it is in fact still a sequel. Plenty of sequels to games expand on the previous games, or at the very least, isn't missing blatant features that most player deemed essential. If anything, they include improvements. New engine version? Sure. Completely different code base? yes. But much of the development for CS1 should and can be used as a general aid for CS2 development, and its still the same programming language and engine (although a more modern version). It's still unity, and they have a blueprint for implementations. And it is more than a sequel in name. It's still a city simulator/builder. It still takes place in the modern age (even if some of the buildings and infrastructure can be historical), it still has the same general goals.

They couldn't even include an asset editor at release, and likely won't before the 1 year anniversary of the release.

Wrong. They said it very clearly that they had to rush C:S1 and weren't able to make it reflect their vision. Hence the total rewrite of the C:S2. Nothing copied over from the old one, only ideas and loads of requested features / old mods etc.

Hahah. Okay Stealthy. I guess Alan Wake 2 isn't a sequel to Alan Wake because its a newly written game and nothing was copied over and its for a differrent engine and generation of consoles. This is terrible faulty logic and an over-focus on semantics. The fact of the matter is, if a sequel/followup to a game you deemed was "rushed" or "unfinished" CS1, and CS2 is now a true reflection of their vision, then we have even bigger problems. I don't think anyone expected EVERY SINGLE feature that DLCs brought to CS1, but bikes and asset editor were essential features and very important to many people. Same with the lack of animations. Of course, I'm sure you'll excuse this as you continue to cope.

Bikes are coming as a free update, but I'm afraid we don't have an ETA for them at this time. They were planned for the release, but as the character models got delayed, we weren't able to implement animations to make them work in time for the release, and we have been working on higher priority issues since then.

Are you serious? Your major concern about the game its bikes? A game with so many features don't work properly like tourism, post, no asset editor yet, delayed CC and DLC that are already sold on Ultimate Edition, bad simulation speed on big cities,...? Your biggest concern is that there is no bikes?

Just knowing that they will arrive as a free update further down the line is good news. But understandable, that you have other priorities. ;)

That's great news, also thank you for the additional detail about the character model animations!

I would ask for a little more sympathy for the fact that different people have different desires.

Your priorities are not everybody's priorities. The world does not revolve around one person. You added nothing with your little dig at the OP and would have saved those tiny few calories spent criticising by moving on and trying to enjoy life.
