I am doing an overhaul of random events for the next version of my mod. Now I already use a custom event set for this, but I am looking to improve on it. I want to tap your knowledge and make a good event set, so please give me as many comments as you can!

I am going to be dividing the events into several types. Each type can be turned on/off independently using the mod options.

Positive/Negative Events: Going up or down in one of these...

Stability
Cash
Technology
Conversion/Heresy
ADM/DIP/MIL
Badboy
Population
Native Aggression
Province Manpower
Province Tax
Revolt Risk
Fortress
Gain/Lose Manufactory
Diplos/Colonists/Merchants/Missionaries
Army/Navy Units

DP Slider Movements: Choice of up, down, or no change; with tradeoffs

Plutocracy/Aristocracy
Centralization/Decentralization
Innovative/Narrowminded
Mercantilism/Free Trade
Offensive/Defensive
Land/Naval
Quality/Quantity
Serfdom/Free Subjects

Inflation/Deflation: Gain/Lose Inflation Randomly

Explorers & Conqs: Gain Explorers or Conquistadors Randomly

Historically-Based: Heavily triggered events designed to only occur for countries that fit a particular "profile"; absolutism, parliamentarism, etc. These events would provide the benefits more than penalties. Designed to help provide "flavor" and maybe some boosts to nations with light historical event files (Portugal or Venice, for example) that the bigger countries get in their historical events.

I am looking for any ideas the community can provide me for new events. The mod is designed with MP as the sole focus, so what kind of events would you like to see in your MP games? Do you have an idea for a unique combination of choices? Or perhaps a historically-based "profile"?

SURRENDER YOUR IDEAS!
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!

I like, keep up the mods, keep the game interesting!

The lifeblood of any mod is criticism and community involvement. I have found that the higher the version number, the less and less commentary. However, the need for commentary grows with every version number as ever further more radical changes and new scenario are added.

I need new ideas as I cannot think of everything myself. :D

Id like the occasional random missionary. Not too often though of course that it makes low invoc pointless but at least hasve it as an event option..

don't know if this would be hard to code, but how about a Ukranian-type independence revolt for a random country tag that is not currently independent ?

or maybe, a random royal marriage? call it "dynastic maneuver"

How about random events for disease striking troops during war? Occasional troop losses would make siege processing less deterministic. Quantity slider setting could affect the amount of these events, and country size the severity.

Even more interesting, the start and end of plagues could be controlled by events.
1. Disease strikes our army random event ( trigger = atwar ) - reduces some troops, raises flag Disease
2. Several troop killing random disease events have their trigger being the Disease flag - these start hurting the nation (time to make peace maybe, the enemy wouldn't know this for random events can't be seen in the log)
3. Plague ends with a "Disease Passes" random event, which has the Disease flag as its trigger, and clears the flag.

I like this idea. I may just steal it for our game :D. The use of userflags opens up so many interesting things you can do with events.

Zeit is right, unfortunately. I ran into this problem when I tried to run a random reformation. The odds of any one event are soooo low that you cannot rely on 2 specific events occuring within the same century, much less war.

You can increase the odds by having multiple identical events. Also you could make the plague events only fire whilst at war, whilst the cure event can happen any time.

I made 30 identical random events once as a test. Each one triggered between 1515 and 1540, no other triggers. Each one caused 3 random protestant conversions; no alternatives. Then I altered the scenario so that the default protestant provinces would not change to protestant.

I ran a test as Portugal. Only a single event occured during the 25 year span and it was for a one province german minor.

After this test, I determined that relying upon random triggers is just too unlikely to work.

Stability is everything!

idea is The Great Visiting of Pope.....resulting in:
Positive:
1. Stability
2. Provinces converting to state religion
3. Relation to all Catholic Countries up by 50 or more
5. Revolt risk in catholic provinces decrease by 2 or more

Nagative:
1. Relation to all non catholic down by 10
2. Decrease in cash by 100 due to Pope Visiting Preparation( Sercurity...v.v...)
3. Revolt risk in non catholic provinces up by 1

I love this idea already....dont you guys?

Can you set flags with EU2? I've never seen that. See it all the time in Vicky's events, but not in eu2.
