A couple of comments:
1. How about an option in the generator to lessen the penalties on conquered territories (like the Non-national IC multiplier)? I know it can be done manually but it would be cleaner if it could be taken care of in the generator. When I'm just one of 157 countries, it's kinda hard to get anything going without a little more help from my loyal subjects.

2. Does RandRoad have a time limit? Do I have to apply the no time limit mod separately? Could it be included?

3. I know it's fluff but I'd like to see, rather than a random shuffling of countries I know, a whole world of new countries. New flags, new country names, new unit names, etc. Of course behind the scenes, they'd still be all the same old country tags and whatnot. It's just that the names would be changed to protect the innocent. I'd be happy to help come up with names, etc. if you'd like.
I appreciate the comments and suggestions.

1. As a playability enhancement, I like the idea of having a way to modify the non-national ic and other things in the misc.txt. I play RandRoad in a separate installation with 100% non-national. Another playability enhancement would be to add a few starter units for each country. I think those things will be included in the future.

2.As anti-commi says the no time limit is a separate thing. I like using it, but it modifies the original exe. Paradox doesn't seem to mind much, but you are on your own there.

3.I agree with you here, but it is too much work. You would need random country names, flags, etc. You would also need something to translate the fictional countries into tags the game would accept.

3. (Not knowing when I'm beaten) My thought is to collect a number of random, not-too-country-specific flags, shields, and counters. I've gotten about 100 fairly generic ones from the HoI2 Grand Flag/Graphic Request thread and I plan to do some of my own (shields and counters come out OK but my flags look spastic). Put them in a separate directory with file names like counter_1, flag_1, shield_1, counter_2, etc. Randomly pick a number for each country tag and then rename the files. Rename counter_19 to counter_ger, flag_19 to flag_ger, and shield_19 to shield_ger, etc.

If my ADD doesn't kick in, I'm planning to collect/generate the graphics for my own use anyway. It would be just a matter of programming in the random file renaming for you to be able include it in RandRoad.

The random names and stuff would be similar. Everything with the ITA tag would still be have the ITA tag. It's just that everything presented to the player would call it "The Undivided Hegemony" or "Naria" or something (which is in what? world_names.csv?).

Anyway, some other suggestions:

4. Include some random national provinces in other countries and random guarantees of independence. It would add a little more flavor and a little more interesting decisions. Liberate my oppressed people, go help my long-standing pre-war ally, or go my own way.

5. You might want to include a file that takes out the impassibles. I attacked a country only to find that there was no way to move into their capital. Eat your heart out, Maginot Line!

6. You might want to include the non-country specific events (which I think are the RandomEvents.txt and secret_weapon_events.txt files). Just to add a little more going on.

7. How about province infrastructure randomized to the nearest 10%. If I have a province at 91%, I can't improve it.

I've been working for the man too much to do anything with this lately.

The claimed provinces should be easy and included next time. The random events should also be included next time. Also, I hope to add 3 1918 infantry as an OOB for each country next time.

Hopefully, next time will be before Doomsday. If not, I'm likely to be playing instead of modding for a while.

Alen...... would I be able to change the province.csv that the generator reads from?
Specifically I was wanting to use the map made by Jisabro Ozawa, the Plus 7 naval ports & MAP fix for PoMC Ver0.3

I think it probably will since it just reads each line, changes resources and terrain, and prints it back out. I can't say for sure, but you can try it out.

The program uses OriginalProvince.csv for that so you would have to replace it with the one you want to use. It has to have that name and be in the directory with the program to work.

If the generator doesn't work with this file, it will just crash which won't hurt anything. If the game doesn't recognize the file it won't load which won't hurt anything. So there isn't really anything to lose.

Just back up OriginalProvince.csv before you replace it in case you need or want it later.

It appears the mapfix put out by Jisabro Ozawa, doesn't work. Or at least my hoi didn't recognize it.....
But I was able to use his other map v2.76. Backed up the originalprovince.csv and changed it out. Ran it though the editor and BAM!
I also used the multiply resources. I assumed it would just multiply the resources (metal, steel, rares, oil, manpower), but it also applied to the IC.
Which is F**KING FANTASTIC! Cause I normally go through the majors and add IC to them anyway......
The more I use your program the more I like it!

I just uploaded the latest version.

It allows a start OOB of 3 1918 infantry and one transport for each country.

It also allows countries to have core claims on their neighbors.

A battle scenario province list was added for Africa.

I forgot the random events and will try to add them shortly.

I haven't gotten Doomsday yet so I'm unsure if this is compatible with it. It certainly doesn't include any of the intelligence features yet.

Well it's running with DD, but the transporters in production are probably using a wrong model number as it shows a red cross instead of the ships. Otherwise everything else seems to work.

Good job btw i really like the improvement. Hopefully you'll offer a full DD-Version in future - could be a great experience ( assuming that DD 1.2 is playable :D )

I just added the random events, secret weapon events, and political events.

The transports look ok in my regular games but I don't have Doomsday to see why they look funny there. I plan to get it soon and work on some things for it.

My intention is to just add Doomsday features as an option to the regular program so it can be used to make either. I'll have to get a look at it to see how long that will take.

I have finally finished making the new province lists and put this latest version on the web page.

The new lists eliminate the problem the program had of making countries that had territory in several locations of the world. Each province of a country should now be adjacent to, or nearby, the rest of the country.

It seems like a small thing, but it makes the games much better.

I still haven't gotten Doomsday, but that will probably be next.

This thread MUST stay alive! I love this generator, especially the AI that dow's everyone in it's path. I thank you for making this, and hope that the Doomsday version comes soon. :D

Thanks. I've had some good games with it myself lately.

I've had Doomsday for about a week now. I tried some scenarios with it. They start and run fine, but there seems to be a problem getting all the files loaded in from moddir. In particular the ai didn't seem to be loaded as the countries weren't doing much.

I will have to look into that as I like using moddir.

If you are comfortable running the mod another way it should work fine.

For HOI2 you put the folder the generator creates in the HOI2 directory. So there should be a
c:\games\HOI2\ScenarioName folder.

Then you make a new shortcut by copying the original one and changing the target to
c:\games\HOI2\HoI2.exe ScenarioName

You find the target by right clicking on the shortcut, choosing Properties, and selecting the shortcut tab.

Then you should be able to start the scenario by using the new shortcut.

Hmmm, could run through a few other things to check...

Firstly, how exactly does it 'not work'? Not to sound critical, but an idea of what is happening (or what is not) can be quite helpful :)

Second, makes sure its HOI2 your running and not HOI1 ;)

Thirdly, have you patched the game to the latest version?
