Region Pack Won’t Download – Always Disconnecting or Failing

Steps to reproduce​

I join the Game the game starts trying to validate and load all the mods and Creatorpacks like the french pack and it can not download the japan and british pack. With the french and german pack I also tried for several weeks of donloading until it finally worked. I dont know how.

Expected Result​

The game downloads the packs and loads them properly instead of quitting the download and blaming it every time on my very good internet connection. I tried it so many times that the likelyhood of it failing due to internet is so small because i tried it several times back tio back on sveral days of the week on several diffrent times of day.

What kinda would be great:
The packs are offical and platforms like steam allow free DLC´s
so why don´t give the people the option to choose from.
every steam cs2 dlc ive ever bought functioned out of the gate without loading for 15 minuts and then braking.

Actual Result​

Every time I try to download it, something goes wrong:
On the first attempt, I get an error saying “Couldn’t add mod this time”
If I try again, it either:
Gets to about 90% and then errors out, with a message saying that mod syncing wasn’t successful.

I'm experiencing the same problem with the newest update.

Try this as a workaround:

• Exit the game
• Log in to the web version of Paradox Mods
• Click on your name and click on My Subscriptions.
• Open the playset that you are using and Disable the region packs that are not installing.

1. Enable one of them
2. Start the game (keep the web browser open)
3. Wait an eternity for the pack to download and install
4. Exit the game and repeat enabling one at a time till you get them all installed.

It is probably the large file size and server timeouts.

Once you get all the region packs installed I HIGHLY recommend you run a verify files. Just in case. If you are running under Steam platform.

I'm unfortunately also encountering this issue - specifically with the larger region packs.

1. Notably slow download
2. Downloads get 'stuck' at some point, and do not recover on their own. I can watch the downloads stop in Task Manager.
3. Closing/reopening CS2 begins the download again, only to get 'stuck' in another place. Could be @ 12%, could be @ 76%, could be @ 42% :\

This would be tolerable if the download could be resumed, however at this point I'm just avoiding larger content.

I have zero playsets in Paradox Mods, but I'm having the same issue. How can I just get rid of the Japan Mod? It's an official mod....why don't they have something in the menu (although it's already trying to download and install it by that point) where I can uncheck it? This is awful. I haven't been able to play this game for a very long time.

Check how much space you have on your C drive. It installs the expansion packs there rather than on the drive where the game is installed to.

You can always edit your playsets on Paradox Mods Web (using your Browser)

Please create a separate detailed report and include how much free storage you have on your System Drive (C Drive)

What an absolute joke - I keep coming back to this game hoping that the people I gave my money to and put my trust in would actually have made some decent progress in fixing this game and every time I'm left more disappointed. It's so sad. Players shouldn't have to jump through hoops and spend a bunch of time to resolve this issue.

Regarding Paradox forcing mods onto the C:\ drive, here's a post I found which advises how to change which drive the mods are installed:

if you have another drive you can use:

- move the Colossal Order folder to the other disk
- then run:
mklink /J "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order" "D:\Colossal Order"

I understand your frustration. Please be assured the devs spend a lot of time fixing bugs, and we make an effort to take a look at all bug reports that reach us. Sometimes the bug report forums are flooded with threads that actually are no bugs, but require assistance anyways, so filtering out real bugs can be a hassle. We haven't been aware of an issue downloading the Region Packs, that is not related to unreliable internet connection, insufficient storage space or cache issues.
