Provence event bug

In July 1471, there's an event: the Inheritance of Provence

There are 3 choices: Being annexed by France - Being a Vassal of France and Being a Vassal of England.

Playing as France, I had Provence as a vassal, military alliance and +199 relations. I was trying to diplo-annex them actually since they had recently gone bankrupt and had only +1 stab compared to my +3. My BB was 8 ("slightly tarnished") in case it matters.

When the AI went through the event, they went with option #3 (being a vassal of england) but further checking in the diplomatic window shows them to still be French vassals.

Shouldn't the Provence AI (or the event code) know that it's a vassal of France and choose either #1 or #2 ? If there's a good historical reason for it and the AI really chooses #3, shouldn't it break its vasallage to France (-3 stability hit for Provence and CB for France on Provence) and the diplomatic window show its new allegiance to England ?

Game started with EU2 1.0 but event occured after applying patch 1.01 .

Re: It was changed so that nations can'tbecome vassals of a nation if already one of

Does that mean that since Brittany is already a vassal of England, France won't be able to get the event where they get the daughter of the duke (or something like that) ?

Does this rule also cover forced vassalization ? Should France turn its sights on Brittany, can it force them to renounce their vassalization to England and become vassals of France ?

Well Ive noticed a few bugs, for one the fixes in the patch dont work I still get msgs about NA tribes fighting wile im russia. Also are we not sopost to be able to annex someone unless they have 1 provence. It does not really matter sept in Napoleonic Senario. Last I think the Cashe size ehem i dont remember how to spell it should be adjustable somehow if i run a few programs it overloads the memeory and my computer crashes i'd like to set it down for a smoother setting. 128 MB ram and 10 gigs free in case ur wondering.;)

A few more things :)

- The Grand Campaign is spelled with all lower-case letters :p

- Religion accounts for *too much* change in relations. +125 with the whole Europe once Catholic = 100% is not a surprise anymore, neither is Turkey being carved by Crusaders left and right, from game to game (Venice, Aragon, Castille, Georgia)

- too much friendliness: Castille annexes Portugal, Poland - Brandenburg, Teutons - Prussia (the last 2 have been confirmed earlier in this thread)

- not enough settings for religion (gotta agree with Crusin on this one) - every new important religion has to appear there; example: Portuguese could not care less about Shiite-Sunni difference, but the Pagans are crucial to them

Seige Bug When at 0 to -5 att/def

I have re-posted this here - what about a list somewher so we can all easily see a current bug list

I have noticed after playing many hours that if you have a seige that gets to Attacker 0 and defender -5, the Seige result will not change unless you are very lucky and go from -5 to ended.

Over the weekend and last night I had this happen 3 times. Last night I seiged Gibraltar and got to 0 and -5 and then.......nothing month afer month after month.....when it got to be 8 months since reaching 0 and -5 I sent in another 6K of inf to make it 18K inf and 5 art.

Another YEAR past.......still 0 and -5!!!!!. So I matched out the force and re-entered to start again, got there this time but I did not get the ratio of 0 and -5 (this time it when to -6) and everything was OK.

This has happened 3 time now and I can't really remember having an issue in EUI?? - but in the back of my mind maybe it would explain some things and I just didn't make the connection.

This has to be a bug in the calculation equation right??.

Has anyone else seen this too - I could find nothing on the boards?.

Cheers, Ice

What about a known bug list

We all seem to spend a lot of time in both game play and on this board "finding" bugs that are already known about!. I read thread after thread that ends up with saying "oh yes that is a known bug and will be fixed", but by then there's a lot of both game time (VERY valuable) and post/thread time waisted.

This is not a bitch but it's just that I think we need this bad.

What about Paradox or the Betazoids making a list of know bugs/issues with EUII 1.01 version so we all know what is going on.

What does everyone think?.

Or if everyone adds their list here at least there will be one thread to go too, if you add something list the bug with a workaround/solution??.

I would add:
Bug: Seige 0/-5 - Seige sticks at this ratio. Workaround: - re-start the seige. Fix: ???
Bug: You can't make an alliance with a country that does not have a boarder with you. Workaround: - none. Fix: next release

Cheers, Ice

U can't forcevassalise a nation if it already is a vassal of someone, no. Usually Brittany breaks the England bond by then.

Text Bug: conversion of Heretics

Hello all....

Im currently playing v 1.01 and I found a TEXT bug. It's a superficial bug but it still leads to a LOT of confusion.

When I get the random event called "Conversion of Heretics" -- the event says (in the text box) that one of my provinces is to be converted. However what really happens is the exact opposite! One of my provinces turns heretic!

Since this is a cosmetic bug, I figure it only takes Paradox like 5 minutes to fix this problem? I'm hoping it will be fixed soon.

1) The described effects of some of the historical-event choices for Castille/Spain don't match what actually happens. i.e., in 1580 I got the "Portuguese Crown" event, took the +1 rather than -1 stability choice (duh), and was pleasantly surprised to have vassalized Portugal; the text just said I would get a royal marriage. Of course it would have helped if I knew even a modicum of history... Same thing with the "Iberian Wedding" event (also does not list vassalization as a consequence).

2) The "Trade Center of Sevilla" event did not produce a COT in Andalusia.

One more thing :) Trade agreements are still broken. Not too often - 1 out of 100 (game A: Kongo, while playing Portugal, and heading for Africa; game B: Iroquois, while playing Portugal, and heading for America). The merchants still compete despite the agreement.

Something else I wanted to say... I love the game, I really do... And this is why I am coming back here again and again reporting these things as opposed to ignoring them and/or leaving the game...

The games tends to unpause at (very infrequent) random intervals, if paused. Sometimes it is when an event is clicked, despite the event being set to a no-pause status (i.e. it the game shouldn't pause when the event box appears, and the game shouldn't unpause when the event is clicked). Sometimes the game unpauses while the event box is still present (and no other boxes, to claim that the game unpaused due to them).

When shift-clicking a fleet to go between several ports, the troops on that fleet do not unload, avoiding attrition they'd suffer in a low-supply intermediate port.

OE is still weak (but the betazoids know that...)

The research buttons tend to "reset" sometimes to 100% treasury. When achieving +3 stability the funds are going to treasury for 3-6 months despite setting research on, say, 100% land.

If a trade agreement or military access are asked for before royal marriage, no 1 month waiting period is required before sending diplomat...

Well on the second thought - he was aboard a fleet... but still :)

Alright, I'm too lazy to glance at all four pages of this thread, so I might be restating bugs/problems already stated.

1) In Tutorial: Diplomacy, when talking about the diplomat status along top of screen the green arrow is pointed upon the missionary icon.

2) In Scenario select, some of the scenario titles are lower case and some are upper case. It just looks annoying. :)

3) In GC as Creek, and assume it does for all Indian nations, my army info in side-bar shows image of European soldier (upper left by morale bar). Slap an Indian image up there!

4) The Domestic Policies side-bar's slider buttons and +/- buttons overlap slightly. Annoying. :)

5) In GC as Creek I noticed that Cherokee's army remained in Shawnee province months after war had ended, white flag waving and right next to own province so must be a bug why it didn't go home.

6) Found the screen froze and had to reboot when playing in 1024x768, but than no problems when changed to 800x600. I have Celeron 500 with 128ram. Either this is a program problem or just a system issue (no big deal, 800x600 works for me). I have the recommended requirements, ah well.

7) In the Ledger the text overlaps in the "Expense" ledger in 800x600 mode. Annoying once again..

That is all for now..

Do you always have to use missionary?

You shouldn't have posted this here until confirmed as a bug, but the answer is Yes, but the limit is a population of 1000 now, not 5000.

The guy with a halberd in a grey chainmail? That's the default icon :) Even Russian strelec (shooters) troops have to use it :p

Why would it though? Having a garrison in your enemy's / vassal's / ally's land is a very, very convincing argument...

Videocard being...? That and 256 Ram is almost a must for this game...

MUGHAL CRASH BUG!!

OK, I tried to start a game as the Mughals in the Age of Exploration, since thats the first time they are available. Well guess what, it crashed when it started to "initialize script"...

In the meantime, play whatever nation that is in Mughal lands in 1419... Delhi, isn't it?

Now - a couple more from myself :p

1 - Text box is not large enough for some messages. Example: landing a unit in Eastern Australia.

2 - Spanish colonizing AI is a bit off in 1492... think their colonization progress in EU1, now halve it. Granted, they lost their colony creation bonus, but still...

3 - ToT is delayed. In my game as Portugal in 1419 scenatio it's 1509 and there is no ToT yet. Can it be that it's related to the number of the settlements in the new World? That's what it was like in EU1...

Cheers :)
