I have an excellent network at work that I have been using for some months now at work. Which works great.
HOWEVER......... I also have 4 machines at home which are networked to each other. I no probs with the 4 machines playing EU2 local via IP addresses or HOI. However unlike at work I can't seem to host any V-net games using V-net.
However I can host say shooter games like MOH (medal of honor) no probs. With other online users joining in.
V-net seems to be a bit more tempermental.....
I have stopped using any firewall (software) protection and can join outside EU2 or HOI games however can't when I host form one of my machines at home. I have placed the hosting machine in the "DMZ" and still no luck.
I have tried a SMC and Linksys router with still no luck. Any ideas guys? I would really like to host a game or two from home with people besides friends who physically come over?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Might try this in the MP forum they may be able to help.

I know what the problem is, I think. Long time reader, rare poster.

Anyways, at your work network, each computer is assigned a unique IP address: a REAL IP address on the internet. That's why you can host IP games from one of those computers.

At home, you only really own one REAL IP address. The router generates 'play' IP addresses for each computer attached, for internal use only. Each PC connects to the router (using the fake IP addresses), and the router talks to the internet (via cable or dsl) with the real IP address. The IP addresses are for the router to recognize the various computers and direct packet traffic.

I imagine the (American) 'networked' programming in the shooters takes such an arrangement into account (hosting from a computer that thinks its IP address is what the world sees, but isn't), while the (Swedish) 'networked' code doesn't... I mean, I'm just saying that I don't think the excesses of America (multiple PCs at home, networked, for crying out loud) have bled through to the rest of the world yet.

No offense to ramscorpio, but I believe it's your hardware firewall. It works just fine for plenty of americans, no reason it shouldn't for this fine gentleman =)

Stickyed in the multiplayer forum and support forum for HoI and the EU2 support forum is an FAQ I wrote about routers and hardware firewalls. It's helped a bunch of people and should solve your problem.

Let me know how it turns out;
