Well a solution for those that want that has already been provided, and this is not a new thing, CK for instance (the last Paradox release) was also locked at 1024x768

I got a 23" with 1920x1200 native res. Games looks decent though I am hoping that paradox programs a successor to it's engine somewhere in a backroom.
Well HOI2 will be the last paradox game to use the EU engine. ;)

What's important is the larger view you get of the map, something I thought of as a major improvement in HoI 1 when I switched to a 19" LCD.
This is the biggest issue for me regarding the low resolution.
Not being able to see as much of the map, as with higher rez, forces the player to scroll much more, and playing becomes a bigger chore.
This wasn't very bad with CK i think, since you didn't move units around very much. But with this game, where that's about the only thing you do, it becomes a huge problem.

Those that complain about blurry images on some native 1280x1024 monitors,

Does it make any difference if you set your windows res to 1024 x 768 before running the game? or does your adapter not allow you to do that?

Would support for other screensizes where everything outside to right/bottom = black work out?

Actually more have asked for 800x600 than any of the others.

For those that say this is the first Paradox game that has a set resolution, that simply is not true, all the games released since HOI 1 in fact have not offered the same selection in resolution. In fact Victoria had the exact same resolution and it was fixed in the same way.

At any rate I have allowed you guys to vent, as I would want to be able to do if I had a fundamental problem with a game.

The thread is not generating any new information, and that information and comments has been seen by Pardox lead programmer as evidenced by the fact that he has posted here.

For those that do not want to read the whole thread I will summarize below:

1) Some people feel the resolution needs to be smaller (eg. 600x800)
2) Some people feel the resolution needs to be bigger. (eg. 1280x1024, widescreen formats, 1600x1280)
3) Some people report the image is blury on a select group of LCD monitors with native resolution not 1024x768.
4) Some people report the image is fine on thier LCD screens.
5) Johan has asked if having a higher res with a black border on the screen would help those on LCDs. Some have said "Yes" some "No" and some "Better than nothing".

I was just going to close the thread, but it could still be that some one has something to say different than what I have summarized. But unless you have something NEW to add to the conversation, we do not need anymore "me too" type posts. Be forwarned.

The developers read the reviews. ;)

The game would never be realistically 1600x1200, since most peoples monitors will not even display that res.

But for Sgt.Bulldog I will add:
6) Some people report the Game interface is hard to look at due to font or foreground/background colour.

EDIT: You may want to check with the guys in the editing forum, as IIRC that stuff might be end user modable.

Half the messages are people complaining it is too small now at 1024 they need a smaller res 800, and you want it at 1600. ;)

Please see my warning above. You are not adding any new info to the discussion.

That is not for me to say one way or another right now.

Paradox does have a well deserved reputation for listening to it's clients. They have been listening to this feed back and value it and your opinions on the matter, that is why I left the thread open so long and why I summarized the thread to make sure I was understanding all views expressed here.

I miss spoke, Substitute Crusader Kings for Victoria.

That is covered in my statement.

Anything is "possible" what Paradox needs to decide is if it is feasible and reasonable.

Well biggest demand looks like it is for 800x600.

More an issue of people want bigger image and text than the LCD problem some experiance.

THe refresh rate is in no way controled by the game software, rather your monitor, your own settings in windows and those of Direct X.

All ideas are being noted thank-you.
