Howdy! everyone i am alexander23 creator of the series Master of the Galaxy, currently one of the few space based forum games.


Many things were learned from previous incarnations of the game specially MGaSO3 about the system and ways to carry the game. As you may or not know it has been months since the end of it, and as promised the next version is almost near completion!.

I have taken my time for the last months in reworking most of the base system, from combat, technology, population and money and so on. It is my sincere belief i have created a much better and solid system to play the game with , and one will be enjoyed by all!.

So you may be wondering whats this thread about. This thread is a sign up, nation and character design thread where players will create their nations and history of them over the next month or so. What do i mean by this? in previous version all nations were isolated and suddenly out of nowhere contact everywhere which was silly and presented many logic problems but no more!.

Another big change which i believe will bring much more excitement and sense of purpose to the polities is that no more you will be an idyllic and undisrupted nation!. At the start of the game many will be suffering overpopulation, droughts, diseases, shortage of food and energy and so on. Life is though in the future and many look at the already overcrowded starts for a better one.

Yes you hear it right overcrowded start, the beggining map will have few places not owned by some polity or another fiercely contested between nearby nations for colonization and ownage as route of expansion!.

Another interesting change is that all players will start in the same galaxy map instead of divided in two as last time which proved not the best idea for enjoyment. However this time the major deal will be the beginning of itra galactic colonization!. Yes you read it right by the time of the game start connections to a new, unspoiled and un-colonized galaxy will be opened and a new way to revitalize your nations will be created!. The age of colonization and subjugation is here. Who will be able to create an empire that rule the starts and who will stay poor and miserable, left behind with scraps in the old world?!.

Combat Redesign


Much work and thinking have gone to the new combat system, for now i will just explain some of the more interested a major changes not too much deep but just to give a small peak to them.

Combat in the last incarnation of the series was more akin to WW1 and uncoordinated fighting specially planetary combat, depending too much just on numbers and rolls, but that has been changed to a more interesting and interactive system. Colonial warfare was nigh impossible with people moving tens of millions of soldiers to defend them in one case even over hundred million soldiers.

That is no longer the case. Colonies and outpost in the new galaxy are far away and hard and expensive to deploy so many and as such colonial warfare will be quick and centered in taking strategic defenses out depending heavily in whatever fleet ships can be allocated and defend. In colonial warfare when a planet is invaded there will be 3 planetary shield generators in its surface providing protection to settlements and cities from orbital bombardment if the invader manage to take them out the colony will immediately surrender!. Military invasion is not the only way maybe sabotage ? insurrections? hacks? so many ways to take them out.!

In the Home galaxy warfare will be fought differently and in massive scale, so be prepared for a tough fight if that's what you are looking for!. with easier movement and mobilization war will take a much much bigger approach in home battles and with systems on it possessing much more shield generator and defensive making wars slow costly, deadly and much harder.

for this i will provide maps with the defensive positions etc of the targets so players can plan attacks and so one in both cases.

As you have read it, no more silly no orbital bombardment equipment, even though you can still improve it some you already possess the technology at start, same with other type of weapons of mass destruction such as nukes etc!

Naval(space) combat has been redesigned to put renewed emphasis in fleet composition and battling with different ships and classification created more to be revealed later.



Another addition to the game (inspired by SneakyFlaps Lion’s Throne game) is the inclusion of Single characters to the game. Meaning you do not have to play the nation but only a character of your preference inside one of the nations, you can be a general or a politician, maybe the life of piracy is for you? do you love exploring the deeps of space and much more! your imagination and nation is the limit!. this players will play inside the established Player nations as their character and be more of role play of them instead of the whole nation.

Interstellar polities:

With this i open for the creation of the Interstellar nations that will form the galactic community of MgASO4. Keep in mind the following announcements:

-This time around all polities will start on the same galaxy and with knowledge of many of the other ones.

-The minimum first contact with another interstellar polity is 50 years, it can be much more than that but nor less to allow wide knowledge of other in the galaxy and relations.

- The Polities will have 2 or 3 solar system by the star of the game, if you want to be in only one you need to talk to me and special dispensations will be done.

-Makers of the polities are their leaders at start of the game and play as the whole of it.

-You must craft a history for your nation and interconnection with others at least your neighbors. For this if two or more nations want to be near each other etc they can request it and will be put so on the map when the game start. I will make all accommodations necessary for this.

-Your history can be anything from peaceful and commercial relations, then sudden war, plagues terrorism whatever you desire. Remember you must do local and galactic history and coordinate how things happens who wins a war, maybe you are a revolution. revenge and so on.

-if players sign for your nation don't be selfish and let them make part of it too.

-Detail political system and so on about your nation to make it more interesting and enjoyable for all.

-There will be allowed only 10-12 (if alot of interest is shown) Player nations, for this i will judge who is acceptable to continue with their nation and whose player nations do not meet standards, nor commitment. It do not means i hate them or dislike them it just mean it was what was desired.

-You can be of any race, type, system and so on. The only races not allowed are gaseous and rock/mineral/cristal based ones. In case you are something that just doesn't seem right i will let you know.

-At the start of the games no one will be an idyllic paradise or some sort, you nations will be passing through a rough patch where you dont make enough food, or maybe not enough energy, plagues, overpopulation rebels or decaying environment and so on.

-If you want to do something that may conflict with what is said here talk with me directly to see if i approve or not.

-Pick a player made nation to be in and your position on it.

-establish background, contacts and so on to define your character responsibility, stats and abilities etc when game starts.

-Be creative and have fun you can be whatever your imagination and nation let you be!...and if you found your nation to small then go out of it!!

-yes you can topple the government and become the state and so one, may be win an election if in a democracy, or military coup and the like, depending on your actions an


On a last an important note the game will start on the second week of January 2015 so time is given for holidays ad the creation process!

History:
In the central desert of the planter Jaerx Bahamut 8 major city states stood
Vethixen, Faesh, Keshte, Te'athsh, Meshesham, Jess'ithar, Jaerx Shash and Jaerx Ver'oss
For reasons that are lost in the mists of time the eight city states unified under one banner, each ruler of the 8 citys joined in a council of eight that still rules today in order to have each of the eight on equal footing a ninth city was constructed to meet at called Jaerx Bahamut, from which the planet takes it's name.
Species Description :
With an average height of 6´ 2˝–6´ 8˝ and an average weight of 220–320 lb Draconians are larger than the average human but still not as large as their semi mythical ancestors the dragons thought the average Draconian lives about just a little longer than a human but reaches adulthood much quicker the eight members of the council of eight have been ruling for as long as anyone can remember.

Positives:
The Empire of Shufalen is an government ran by trade and technology, being ran by this philosophy Shufalen has seen great success in its economy and scientific advances through the centuries.

Shufalen's Military is not a force to reckon with as they are Elven race, their precession and military discipline have advanced since they have lived for many centuries without age slowing them down.

The knowledge of the Shufalen people over the years allows them to realize that any kind of in fighting amongst themselves would seem futile and would hurt them more than it would towards their leaders, so if there was such a revolt to happen in the Empire there would be hostile actions taken against the rebels by the people.

Shufalen is also known for its quick construction of its buildings and statues.

Negatives:
The Shufalen Empire is known to be a rather racist Empire, whenever a planet were to get under their control the nobles or even immigrants to that recently acquired planet would automatically think they are superior to the natives.

The Shufalen Empires ego can be seen to their downfall when trading with other nations or dealing with a battles, some merchants think they are smarter than the other contending merchants while the Shufalen generals act as if they can win anything.

Pacifism some Shufalens think going to war is a stupid idea if not necessary and would probably protest about if it gets to a certain point.

The Shufalen council is made to keep the Emperor in check and are really difficult to speak to making decisions for the Empire very agonizing.

History:

The Shufalen Empire has existed for seven centuries living in peace, the use for war didn't really seem really profitable for the Empire. As their success's in trade and technology have allowed their Empire to grow in its economy and several medical advances. Even so the Empire was not without its military the Shufalen were masters of strategy and having well disciplined troops, this allowed them to have a show of force if an rival trade nation were to threaten them.

Shufalen didn't use to be an Imperial government it used to be an republic, the Shufalen Republic was a broken system constant wars and infighting amongst government political factions and the economy was in tatters. That was until the first Shufalen Emperor Xemnia who was leader of the royalist faction at the time, lead a huge revolution against the republic calling it unruly and allowing the nation to lose face for two centuries. The was lasted only a year and the Shufalen Empire was born and the Empire for seven centuries allowed the nation to have a face within the national community again, though the Empire has had some problems with foreign affairs despite being pacifist Shufalen has had quarrels with the Federal Empire of Azeratii a certain incident on a space station that stood within the borders between the two Empires.


The incident of Azeratii intolerance​

The incident of Azeratii intolerance is what the people of Shufalen called it, as a simple trade deal proposed by the Shufalen Empire turned into a argument of words and then followed by violence after one of the Azeratii officers opened fire on diplomat Kel'Manus. As the Shufalen believe that the humans didn't want to share 50/50 of a valuable crystal resource that both Empires found, the Azeratii wanted it all for themselves and killed their peaceful diplomat for no reason.

(This is a event that both Empires will just make it up as it goes, like a he said she said moment. )

The incident has kept both Empires at a trade war with each other and as of now keep their borders militarized ready for someone to make the first move.

Knight of Progress Enforcer​

(Some Basic Lore to get started and let the other players decide how they want to do lore with me)

Originally founded in the year A.D. 2345 the Knights of Progress were a fraternity centered around charity works. A group of influencial businessmen, politicians, and wealthy good samaritans. They first started by founding and funding charities to expand on medical research, as situations at home worsened they lead relief efforts for disasters, and eventually ended up owning their own little peace corpse. The issue was once that peace corpse went into more hostile areas they needed protection, so a pattern of their employees getting ransomed sprang up, and would have bankrupted the franternity if not for multiple government subsidies. A few of their people managed to escape and ward off the hostile factions in these third world countries through violence of their own. Openly these actions were at first chastised, but secretly the leaders of the fraternity started teaching their relief effort groups how to fend off terrorists. Needless to say it was successeful, the Knights of Progress' releif missions became world renown, and infamous, for being able to hold off terrorist and guerilla attacks. Didn't take long after that until these missions involved members taking the fight to particularly threatening groups. Some people disliked how a peace corpse was engaging in war, but the people they went to help were made safer and that's what really counts isn't it? Eventually a new branch of the Knights was made designed to fight insurgents, built up of veterans from the many wars being waged across the globe. To fund this the knights had to expand their domestic financiers, despite having their own corporations and wealth. Militaries are expensive and so they offered to use the bulk of their combined corporations' research and development sectors for military research. They then sold it to the highest paying government. This though was not enough to keep the people in these areas safe, so that left the knights with one option, put them under permenant protection. The Knights of Progress with their own forces, advanced technology, mercenaries, and favors from nearby nations, invaded a small collection of third world countries that had always been a problem area. The conquest was swift, and the public executions of the leaders of all defeated parties who would not submit quick. Now the Knights were free to fix the problems these people had without hinderance, and gain tax to help fund their new army. People learned very quickly not to revolt against their new 'saviors' because those who get in the way of progress must be eliminated.

INTRODUCTION: The HUM
[NOTE: That Information inside is tentative due to the currently unknown nature of the HUM]



As of now it is understood that the HUM - named after the sound made by the translator when the first contact ship asked the HUM what they were - are a race of dense gaseous cells floating in an ammonia rich environment. This is due to the HUM originating on Planet Alpha Anguis IV around the star Alpha Anguis. How life or civilisation started on the planet is currently unknown due to the hazardous conditions of the planet and the rather fantastic form that the HUM is currently thought to be. The sheer fact that life exists in the region is denied by certain nations and sectors of various governments due to the sheer improbability of such an event occurring. This is due to Alpha Anguis being an ancient white dwarf that gives off little heat and the fact that Alpha Anguis IV is a gas giant of primarily ammonia and water with what is assumed to be a core of some kind.

The HUM themselves are not understood that well. Due to the issues with communication what is now known was collected through observation, rigorous and tiring discussion or simply conjecture. The HUM seem to communicate through the exchange of certain gaseous chemical excretion that is not understood as of yet. They also utilise a pseudo-physical transportation system whereas they somehow create a hyperdense ammonia spaceship that utilises its own mass to propel itself across the stars. During first contact it was not even know by the ship that they were passing by a ship until their radio started picking up static from the HUM translator.

It is assumed that the HUM is in an empire of some kind and has a higher level of civilisation and society due to their ability to transverse space. However nothing is known at this time. Discussion among various companies, nations and academic circles over the place of the HUM in this new world is chaotic and strange, with discussions of genocide retorted with the response that as of yet the human race did not even know how to kill, if indeed one could kill, a member of the HUM Race.
