Welcome to master of the Galaxy 4: Voyage to the unknown (tentative name)

Howdy! everyone i am alexander23 creator of the series Master of the Galaxy, currently one of the few space based forum games.
Many things were learned from previous incarnations of the game specially MGaSO3 about the system and ways to carry the game. As you may or not know it has been months since the end of it, and as promised the next version is almost near completion!.
I have taken my time for the last months in reworking most of the base system, from combat, technology, population and money and so on. It is my sincere belief i have created a much better and solid system to play the game with , and one will be enjoyed by all!.
So you may be wondering whats this thread about. This thread is a sign up, nation and character design thread where players will create their nations and history of them over the next month or so. What do i mean by this? in previous version all nations were isolated and suddenly out of nowhere contact everywhere which was silly and presented many logic problems but no more!.
Another big change which i believe will bring much more excitement and sense of purpose to the polities is that no more you will be an idyllic and undisrupted nation!. At the start of the game many will be suffering overpopulation, droughts, diseases, shortage of food and energy and so on. Life is though in the future and many look at the already overcrowded starts for a better one.
Yes you hear it right overcrowded start, the beggining map will have few places not owned by some polity or another fiercely contested between nearby nations for colonization and ownage as route of expansion!.
Another interesting change is that all players will start in the same galaxy map instead of divided in two as last time which proved not the best idea for enjoyment. However this time the major deal will be the beginning of itra galactic colonization!. Yes you read it right by the time of the game start connections to a new, unspoiled and un-colonized galaxy will be opened and a new way to revitalize your nations will be created!. The age of colonization and subjugation is here. Who will be able to create an empire that rule the starts and who will stay poor and miserable, left behind with scraps in the old world?!.

Combat Redesign
Much work and thinking have gone to the new combat system, for now i will just explain some of the more interested a major changes not too much deep but just to give a small peak to them.
Combat in the last incarnation of the series was more akin to WW1 and uncoordinated fighting specially planetary combat, depending too much just on numbers and rolls, but that has been changed to a more interesting and interactive system. Colonial warfare was nigh impossible with people moving tens of millions of soldiers to defend them in one case even over hundred million soldiers.
That is no longer the case. Colonies and outpost in the new galaxy are far away and hard and expensive to deploy so many and as such colonial warfare will be quick and centered in taking strategic defenses out depending heavily in whatever fleet ships can be allocated and defend. In colonial warfare when a planet is invaded there will be 3 planetary shield generators in its surface providing protection to settlements and cities from orbital bombardment if the invader manage to take them out the colony will immediately surrender!. Military invasion is not the only way maybe sabotage ? insurrections? hacks? so many ways to take them out.!
In the Home galaxy warfare will be fought differently and in massive scale, so be prepared for a tough fight if that's what you are looking for!. with easier movement and mobilization war will take a much much bigger approach in home battles and with systems on it possessing much more shield generator and defensive making wars slow costly, deadly and much harder.
for this i will provide maps with the defensive positions etc of the targets so players can plan attacks and so one in both cases.
As you have read it, no more silly no orbital bombardment equipment, even though you can still improve it some you already possess the technology at start, same with other type of weapons of mass destruction such as nukes etc!
Naval(space) combat has been redesigned to put renewed emphasis in fleet composition and battling with different ships and classification created more to be revealed later.
Another addition to the game (inspired by SneakyFlaps Lion’s Throne game) is the inclusion of Single characters to the game. Meaning you do not have to play the nation but only a character of your preference inside one of the nations, you can be a general or a politician, maybe the life of piracy is for you? do you love exploring the deeps of space and much more! your imagination and nation is the limit!. this players will play inside the established Player nations as their character and be more of role play of them instead of the whole nation.
Now on to the sign up:

Interstellar polities:
With this i open for the creation of the Interstellar nations that will form the galactic community of MgASO4. Keep in mind the following announcements:
-This time around all polities will start on the same galaxy and with knowledge of many of the other ones.
-The minimum first contact with another interstellar polity is 50 years, it can be much more than that but nor less to allow wide knowledge of other in the galaxy and relations.
- The Polities will have 2 or 3 solar system by the star of the game, if you want to be in only one you need to talk to me and special dispensations will be done.
-Makers of the polities are their leaders at start of the game and play as the whole of it.
-You must craft a history for your nation and interconnection with others at least your neighbors. For this if two or more nations want to be near each other etc they can request it and will be put so on the map when the game start. I will make all accommodations necessary for this.
-Your history can be anything from peaceful and commercial relations, then sudden war, plagues terrorism whatever you desire. Remember you must do local and galactic history and coordinate how things happens who wins a war, maybe you are a revolution. revenge and so on.
-if players sign for your nation don't be selfish and let them make part of it too.
-Detail political system and so on about your nation to make it more interesting and enjoyable for all.
-There will be allowed only 10-12 (if alot of interest is shown) Player nations, for this i will judge who is acceptable to continue with their nation and whose player nations do not meet standards, nor commitment. It do not means i hate them or dislike them it just mean it was what was desired.
-You can be of any race, type, system and so on. The only races not allowed are gaseous and rock/mineral/cristal based ones. In case you are something that just doesn't seem right i will let you know.
-At the start of the games no one will be an idyllic paradise or some sort, you nations will be passing through a rough patch where you dont make enough food, or maybe not enough energy, plagues, overpopulation rebels or decaying environment and so on.
-If you want to do something that may conflict with what is said here talk with me directly to see if i approve or not.

Character base:
-Pick a player made nation to be in and your position on it.
-establish background, contacts and so on to define your character responsibility, stats and abilities etc when game starts.
-Be creative and have fun you can be whatever your imagination and nation let you be!...and if you found your nation to small then go out of it!!
-yes you can topple the government and become the state and so one, may be win an election if in a democracy, or military coup and the like, depending on your actions an
On a last an important note the game will start on the second week of January 2015 so time is given for holidays ad the creation process!
