Ok, i've some really silly questions, I hope the thread is not closed - because I would like to know anyhow - and because being too serious the whole time is just silly =

1. Did Paradox look into the archive (pictures, paintings) to get an idea how the famous kings, dukes and counts looked like. So like = who's having the biggest nose, and who's really an ugly toad! Perhaps ugly toads have more difficulty to get beautfilul laidies,

2. Does the character in the game, get penalties from going very old. So like = he's less likely to go to war. Or even, he falls from his horse because he has lost his best reflexes,

3. Is there any reason for not giving the reign to your oldest son? F.e. he's such a dumm ass that he would probably suit better as decoration in the castle. So like in history, sometimes the father not always put priority on his family and their wellbeing, he was often more occupied with "my empire should have the best destiny",

4. Can you go heretic and become an outcast in the Christian world?

ok, in the past years I've found out that making a 4-question thread is more risky to get reasonable answers, so that's another reason why I'm making "silly" questions,

:p :)

If the answer of this question is no, then my question is:
3a: is it possible to kill one or more of your sons?

The M:TW strategy for this is to have them slain on the battlefield... might work in CK too.

No idea. I would guess that it is probably more a visual aid than an attempt at accurate historical representation though. To quote Johan: "It's a game, not a simulation."

2. Does the character in the game, get penalties from going very old. So like = he's less likely to go to war. Or even, he falls from his horse because he has lost his best reflexes,
NDA prevents me from being specific but older characters can frequently find themselves at some sort of disadvantage.

There are at least 2 or 3 ways to deal with a #1 son who isn't ideal.

4. Can you go heretic and become an outcast in the Christian world?
Um....you could effectively achieve this if you so desired. I wouldn't recommend it though. The Christian world has a habit of putting you in your place if you do...

Johan has stated that appart from the four basic skills all characters can have a number of special dis-/advantages, and I suppose "Butt-ugly" could very well be one of those.

I sure hope so. ;)

There are plenty of reasons for why you might not have you eldest son take up after you die, and there are plenty of ways to try and stop him (at the risk of jummy civil wars of course ;) ).

Assassination is in the game, not sure if you can kill members of your own dynasty though... If not you could always send him of on a crusadea and hope that he gets himself killed.

4. Can you go heretic and become an outcast in the Christian world?

Mr.T says so.

Careful how you quote....

Note that I did not say "yes". I only indicated such an effect could be acheived - that of becoming an outcast in the Christian world. It doesn't take much imagination to come up with at least one way to achieve that...

edit? (but then you wouldn't be able to play it right?)

A question!!!
will your characters age visibly? IE. will they become wrinkled and rotten? etc.

At times it seems they are born that way.

:p

Let's wait a couple weeks before answering that question...unless future beta AARs supply your answer. :)

It sounds like they are working on the aging effect, if I read MrT correctly. A most brilliant touch if you ask me, you'd be able to see how your family is doing just by looking at 'em.

As the game is gold, it seems a little bit weird if they should be working on that.;)

These games are always being worked on...which I am quite happy about.

Not to mention the history of Paradox adding lots of new features after the initial release! ;)

Well, in that you are right Galleblære, but I think it's a bit early even for Paradox to come with new features, I don't think that have happened so early yet.:)

Such as adding a whole new revolt screen map mode for Victoria in the very first tweak patch? :D

Uummmm... Must have been a mistake by them...:D

"Wait a couple weeks" can just as easily be another way of saying that giving a straight answer one way or the other would be in violation of NDA. In a couple weeks it would not be... :)

That shouldn't be necessary - one would assume that initiating a little unprovoked war of conquest against the Papal States should work nicely. :D

thanks for the feedback guys, this has been illuminating,

I'm still very anxious to find out what the consequences migth be of growing old in age - I recall the famous Djenghis Khan games! In one of those games old Djenghis was making love 100% of the time because first he had too few relatives when he was old and his "skills" where that bad he needed all his stamina to "visi"t his wife,

also a "march west" instead of "march east" order might sometimes be cumbersome, :D
