This is the AX Microscopii star system.

The jump point to The Radiant is circled in red in the top left corner. Diagonally below that (also circled in red, center left) is the jump point that leads through Luyten's Star and on through Alpha Centauri to Earth. Further along the same diagonal is our Minelayer task force (Tenders loaded with Cutlasses) indicated by a red arrow, and still deeper into the inner system (again circled in red) is the jump to Ze Neuotral Zoon-a.

THAT is where we are placing the minefield.

This picture has got to be a shock to them. I mean, sure, they knew we have something out here, but look at that traffic. That ridiculous stream of ships. And they have no idea whether it's all civilian or something else. Their military minds must be going bonkers wondering if the military side is that strong as well..

Starting at the top and highlighted in yellow, the Modrons have set up a colony on an asteroid in our Harmony star system. Thermal 35 and EM 35... a stack of DSTS, maybe? That's the same trick that WE pulled.

Turnabout is fair play I guess.

Lower down the page, they are asking us to hand over the Harmony star system and withdraw. Yeah, like THAT'S going to happen. Bork you too, pal.

Not very strongly. Just a suggestion.
Maybe we should be asking *them* to leave.
Back it up with a good fleet and they probably will.

Meanwhile, we're back in communication with the Bork, and they're actually paying attention. (EDIT: "significant progress" gave us +5

There is hope for peaceful contact yet.
I expect them to do a similar claim on ZNZ. Good thing we're dragging in habs.

Lastly... Diplo 100.6 - let's keep an eye on it, and see what this argument over the Harmony star system is costing us.

I don't think you can see the impact of that on our end, sadly.

Good point.
Can we see this in our own designs?
Our EMs are up in the thousands.

Winged Hussar III (with our biggest shield) is EM 12,000.

Only two hours after we spotted the first asteroid colony in Harmony, we find two more!

Auto-mines, maybe? they DID send a bunch of Freighters into that star system...

I'll check and see if those asteroids are mineralized.

It's listing 'shields' not 'EM signature' though.

Makes sense. We've been gunning for very specific minerals, but the AI may be looking primarily for high total accessibility or different minerals. Different criteria means different priorities for asteroid mining. And thus them mining places we aren't interested in.

Well... I stand corrected on that point.

The game has certainly taken an interesting turn, with the discovery of not one but TWO advanced races.

That was the plan, wasn't it? :)

Ha! That's it!

The asteroids only contain small deposits (typically thousands, sometimes tens of thousands) but at high ACC.

Two of those three asteroids (#54, #153, #173) have ACC 6, the other one has ACC 5.

They're welcome to mine the asteroids, but if they think we're leaving the star system then they're dreaming.

We're getting turn interrupts every 30 seconds. Almost as if we were being shot at with missiles.

Have the Bork decided to mess with us?

Excellent.

Let's place a bunch of these puppies scattered around the jump into Ze Neuotral Zoon-a.

People were reporting bugs with the two-stage mines... and I'm not sure whether they are still broken.

Let's try them out.

Another option is that one of the two NPR's have explored into a hostile system. Would be nice if they ran into, say, the Swarm - which I'd still like to see in this game.

Let's plop down a few more stacks of mines.

To be fair it's easier for them. They don't need to ship that stuff, they have NPR mineral teleportation instead.

This means they will be depleted quickly too though. Expect another batch of freighters in a year or two.

They're welcome to mine the asteroids, but if they think we're leaving the star system then they're dreaming.

If we have enough presence we can ask them to leave instead. Saves them repeatedly asking us to leave, at a diplomatic penalty each time.

Can we build ordinance factories in Woodstock? Get Wagonlitz favorite people working?
We just need to be careful those smelly hippies don't sabotage the war effort what with they make love, not war nonsense. :p

All headed for Harmony? Interesting. Did we just get a trade treaty and the game forgot to mention it to us?
You get treaties automraitclaly when you git the thresholds?

At our end (the Diplo points visible to us) we're not quite half-way to a trade deal.
If it's a trade deal on theirnend, bur not in outside, then they can trade, but we can't?

Three months to build an STO unit (typically two or three turrets). A week for a Space Marine Battalion. Maybe seven weeks for a Brigade. Garrisons are quick.
Is.that threadless fatty enige in case of war, then?
Like, then I'd presume we'd need batallions produced way way faster than every 7 weeks.
