The Modrons are playing peek-a-boo at the jump point to the Abhorrent star system.

We can only see them because of their shield harmonics.

So they are guarding the way out instead of the planet.
Silly, silly Modron.

Bear in mind that our fleet is so slow and our Fighters are so short-ranged that the Modrons can easily get both fleets back to intercept us before we reach the planet.

That's why we're waiting for the Fortress... because I don't really believe that we'll reach the planet without fighting both fleets.

We might. But this might be just a "lame duck" deployment that they have plenty of time to rectify as we approach.

Again the enemy Red 12 fleet ducks out through the Abhorrent jump point.

They seem to be playing the same sort of game that we had in mind. Sitting on the jump point and popping through from one side to the other.

The other enemy fleet, Red 11, is now only 720 million km from the same jump point.

This time the enemy Red 12 fleet is accompanied by a pair (or more) of Dordogne class. They are the 13th and 14th Dordognes we have spotted.

If they really are 950-ton FACs - as their RADAR signature suggests - then they shouldn't be much of a problem since that 20,000+ kps speed plus the big RADAR don't leave much tonnage available for weapons. But if they are really 9,500-ton ships with 90% stealth gear - which would also give a signature of 950 - then they will be very formidable opponents.

Another Tug has arrived at the rendezvous, towing a Chimera... so we now have five shielded Fortress modules in the Mechanus star system - three Chimera and two Griffon, as well as four loaded Airbases.

We are still accumulating Tugs, and will launch the operation as soon as we have enough on hand to move the Fortress. A couple more days.

Red 12 continues playing peek-a-boo at the jump point.

Red 11 is now only 375 million km or so from the jump to the Abhorrent star system.

They must have gotten a humongous number of points. Any chance they could have a second world in another system?

Anybody else seen the new Superman yet? No spoilers, but it was better than I thought it would be and Nathan Fillion did a great Guy Gardner imo. I do hope they develop him more in future projects.

Could they be trying to ship our their population and leave?
Possibly... but it would take decades, and we'd just follow them anyway.

I'm surprised at the strength of their fleets, yes.

That would suggest a strategic depth the AI usually doesn't have.

Nothing that has the number of installations Mechanus has.

Nope.
I kinda like Nathan Fillion though. Much buffy nostalgia involved there but still.

I've seen an NPR like this before, so no, I wasn't.

I have seen starting NPRs this strong, but never ones randomly generated mid game.

We're not sure that they did that.

These would be a dozen auto-mines (or just possibly a DSTS array).

One of the Admiral class AWACS / AMM-PD / Tanker / Jump Tender vessels that was damaged in an earlier engagement has repaired and rejoined the Combined Fleet.

... so we gradually tighten our anti-missile defenses. Still awaiting the arrival of more Tugs.

They're gone. Well... I'll be damned. I didn't actually believe they were leaving.

Naturally, they'll blockade the jump point. And pop back and forth.

... but will they sortie when we start bombarding their planet?

Tactical.

Both enemy fleets have fled the Mechanus star system, leaving their home planet almost naked to invasion.

However, our Fleet is so slow and the distances involved are so great that both enemy fleets could make it back in time to intercept us before we reached Fighter range of the planet. So we will do this properly, and wait for the rest of the Tugs before we move forward with all of our forces united.
