I don't know what to say..I thought that Triumph is working on a fantasy game, so I am not very excited about this upcoming game. I love strategy games, so I will buy it regardless of the setting. :)
Why is this game called "Age of Wonders"? Marketing? :( Or we are going to have a deep magic system as well with spell tiers etc.?
When can we read about the detailed feature list? What is the planned release date? [The game is in development for 3 years afterall.]

I found 2 things very interesing so far:

"Strategic Turn-Based Sci-Fi Combat - Perfect your combat strategy in intense turn-based battles that offer tactical challenges, a large cast of races, units with customizable weapons, and destructible environments."

1. I really like the idea of customizable weapons. But why only weapons are customizable? What about armor and other stuff? Like in Endless Legends.
2. Destructible environments - Lovely! However how is that going to work? This is mainly useful in tactical games, like X-Com, Silent Storm etc. The "battles" in those games are played on a big map. There is a cover system etc. in those games. In AoW we have tiny battlefields. This means, that the battlefields will be much bigger this time + we are going to have a cover system [& other tactical elements] as well?

I don't want to be a killjoy but it could be along the lines of the actual AOW3 maps where you can actually destroy crates and stuff instead of being forced to move around it.

Hm..I don't know. I think that they consider it an important gameplay feature, since it was mentioned in the announcement show even. If it would be some cosmetic stuff only, why would they mention it? Ah btw I've figured out, that the release date is 2019. I thought that they are going to release it in 2018.
Also, there will be a Q&A with the Triumph team at 17:30 if I am correct. Hopefully someone will ask about this feature as well.

You can mod your units & leaders with new technologies; this incl. new ammunitions, armor upgrades, shields, jetpack etc. These mods are going to keep lower level units more relevant in the later game. Heroes and leaders have more options

Yes much is destructible. Yes and there will cover, overwatch, stagger and many more tactical elements!

i prefer fantasy myself and i hoped for another entry because currently besides EL and AoW3 there aren't much noteworthy SP Fantasy games (Dom4 / 5 having braindead AI doesn't help..sorry). but i have to say those screenshots and the idea of an alpha centaury-esque game with tactical combat and story elements aka Endless Legends or dynamic story campaign sounds beautiful.

from the web page it seems diplomacy and economy are having a more focused role...this might become the ultimate AoW game because they always lacked the empire side of things. if they pull that off now and have maybe a bit faster paced combat to not make it stale then wow....would only play AoW:pF and stellaris till rest of my life (until AoW4 arrives hehe).

Yeah, if this wasn't Age of Wonders I'd look at that one screenshot I've seen and decide I don't really care and not give it any further attention. But it is Age of Wonders and I have only seen a single screenshot, so I suppose I'll just have to see how it develops from here.

I´m looking forward to this, although I also would have prefered continuation of the series in the fantasy setting. Imo the previous AoW games weren´t lacking in the empire department, they had everything just right.

this and that they reintroduce miss mechanics actually makes me a bit worried that Battles will take much longer now. If you play AoW3 in live MP the big fights easily take hours already.

It'll be much more than that, they mentioned explosive cars (there was no exploding environment in AoW3) and I think i read about "constructing cover" (but I can't recall where I heard or read that so it might be just wishfull thinking -.-)
Personally I'm pretty happy for the SciFi setting, after playing all the AoW installations I'd be really up for another theme by now, problem is whatever space stuff I tried it always turned out not to be as much fun as AoW in the end. So I'm really happy about planetfall! But let's see how it'll turn out in the end. 2019 is still far away...

Cover can be constructed during combat, by a select number of units/effects. You can also take cover behind some bigger units.

While accuracy mechanics are introduced, part of the current version includes grazing. This means that full hit chance of 75% or more, you always hit, but there's a 25% chance you graze the enemy for half damage instead.

I think that's a pretty slick alternative to outright "missing" (and the chaos and randomness that introduces) versus just always hitting but doing a greater range of damage (ala AoW3). It lets you make some calculated risks and decisions with a little more certainty of potential outcomes.

I really hope they keep a graze-like mechanic instead of going with total misses across the board for that reason. Too much time spent cursing AoW2 archers for totally screwing up plans.

I would like to see "friendly-fire" brought back where you could hit ANY unit along the line of fire. with hit chance based on how far into the line of fire the unit is.
