Well, it's not supposed to be easy. You're outnumbered and outgunned, after all.

Yeah but it's drastically ahistorically stacked against the CSA. Lincoln called for a 75,000 man army when things really got rolling, but the USA in game starts with 13 divisions and enough manpower reserve to fully restore their numbers, thus the total troop level is nearly double what Lincoln originally called for at the outset. Whereas the CSA starts with around half strength divisions and no manpower reserve, thus the odds of the CSA even surviving a few battles is slim at best and impossible to survive beyond that. At the outset of the war the regular union army was comprised of 16,000 men, far far away from the 130,000 men they start with in the game.

SR does what it can re: manpower, including allowing the CSA to convert its Texan POPs to soldiers and giving the CSA several additional provinces. What it doesn't fix is hardcoded in the game, and can't be fixed.

The main thing SR can't do is play the game for you. The CSA faces some long odds in anything but an alt-history mod or a "Union Gets Totally Fucked" mod. SR is neither of those.

If you need some advice on how to play and win as the CSA, here's HannibalBarca's tips on How To Curb Yankee Arrogance: http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=263212

You could mod the scenario file to remove ahistorical divisions, but I guess that was too much work for you to do.

I hardly think it's the mod's fault that you're a bad player.

I hard think it's realistic that the scenario has the end of war OOB's when in the battle of manassas(First) there were roughly 10,000 men combined from both sides. roughly 4000 on the confederate side and 6000 on the federal side. But whatever, don't call me a bad player because you're an arrogant jackass. I know how to play this game and I should be able to at least survive a while as the CSA, but it's impossible. Vicky in general has really botched the balance of power in everything but the grand campaign. The union shouldn't have 13 divisions at the start of the war and the CSA shouldn't have what it does. They should be significantly weaker militarily, and if CSAbadass had actually bothered to try and improve the civil war scenario then he would have edited the OOB's of the players involved, but he didn't because he's a lazy mod.

Er, no. The Union Army of the Potomac was 37,000 strong, while the Confederate AoP had 21,000 (the CS AoP was reinforced with Johnston's army from the Sheandoah, adding another 11,000). The Yankee Army of the Potomac in-game is 29,000-ish. Guess how many troops are in Manassas and Stanton provinces?

(Hint: The historical numbers, 21,000 and 11,000)

Hold it there amigo, its not impossible, again, since I have done it, Johnney has done (both of us have material proof), im sure CSAbadass had done it and the however many people who have downloaded his mod have too. Its not cool to be calling him a lazy mod or discreaditing him for all his work he's done just because your not winning, if you think you can do a better job do it yourself, don't critisize others hard work and call them lazy, and its especialy not nice to be calling others ignorant jackass's when you clearly don't know all that much yourself. There is no reason to be rude about it, if you don't like it, tough, but don't blame others for your problems.

Sorry for that little bit of spam there CSAbadass, just thought that wasn't very cool. Oh and you got my vote for the award as well!

As it happens, you guess wrong. I can't imagine how someone with your modding experience could be in error, but I'll try to explain it. Please forgive any sloth on my part in doing so.

I've tried modding the scenario so that both sides start at their historical levels--or at least as close as the Ricky engine allows. Both sides are actually historically undermanned in the game, and I tried to address that.

Both sides were bankrupt by the end of 1863 paying all the added maintenance costs.

We've spent a lot of time and effort trying to help you, and I've yet to see so much as a "thank you." Instead, you call me and the uncompensated months I've spent on this mod "lazy."

You're welcome, I guess.

You've made your point. Let the PI community at large judge who's being lazy, and who's just being Another Internet Douchebag.

If you had shown basic manners, basic modding or game design skills, or applicable historical knowledge, I wouldn't say the following, Since we've gotten zip so far, here goes:

Stop posting here, and forget my mod exists. Those of us who can criticize with some common courtesy will try to soldier on without your "assistance."

No problem at all, amigo. Thanks for having my back!

Now it's time for us (me included) to stop feeding the troll.

Personal insults are uncalled for and not allowed on these forums. Consider this an official warning. If you want to participate in this thread, then discuss the mod instead of attacking its creator and other posters.

@CSABadass, you know my feelings on the ACW, for we have had some good debates early on, ;) but I felt I should add my two cents regarding the troll. I just saw this thread today and I was quite surprised by what Mr Troll had to say. I have personally played both sides in this mod and have even been able to have the Johnny Rebs survive fighting Billy Yank well into the 1870's, see posted screenies, so I KNOW, emphatically, that the Rebs CAN survive and even win.

So it seems to me that he was just a poor player and needed to take his frustrations out on you and your outstanding mod. All I can say is this, I may be a die-hard unionist, but I will cover your backside against the trolls out there, Johnny Reb. :p

BUT I do have a bone to pick with you. ;) I am surprised that you made the following statement knowing full well that it is a lie. :( I had expected better from you.

CSABadass wrote:
Also, if anything is going to make Dixie a Union national POP again, it isn't going to be electing Lincoln, the enabler of the genocidal Sherman

The term genocide denotes a planned and implemented destruction of a POPULATION. Sherman may have burned down the buildings, but he did NOT round up the people and put them in camps to die after burning down their homes like Kitchener did in the Boer war.

So why this useless and patently false propaganda against Sherman? Are you trying to provoke flaming from those of us who WANT an accurate ACW mod instead of a Reb's wet dream scen? There are plenty of those out there and my support of this mod was on the perception that you would at least try to be objective about it. Now I guess I will have to scrutinize the events that much harder for bias. I had thought you would have been more objective, sad I was mistaken. :(

That's just it - propaganda. Dixie wouldn't be a national pop because ex-Confederates see Lincoln as enabling Sherman's total war.

I have no problems with propaganda, but to accuse someone of genocide, in today's society, is the most heinous thing to do. Now if CSABadass would have said something like "enabling the scorched earth proponent Sherman", is quite acceptable. Since that is exactly what he was. :p

I was just surprised to see it in his post. I know he is a Reb, but up till then his propaganda was subtle. But that was as subtle as a kick to the head. :p
