Seeing weather and terrain in the same filter would really add to this.

Isn't that already implemented?

Mouse right click on the date next to the pause button and this menu shows up.

the main issue is spotting the raspunitsa, if your guys are moving thru mud their eta becomes weeks
when the mud goes away u have to stop and then re order them to their destination
if you dont or dont realize the were hit with mud u can suddenly notice the inf with artillery u need are way behind

i dont know why this happens sometimes and not others but its always because i didnt see the mud

Map probably couldn't be better, good visualisation (unlike in HoI2
 ) with good amount of provinces. Font could be changed to something more modern. Countries: more revolters please. Tech: honestly I'd like to see more technologies, even going deeply into Cold War (as the game itself can run up to 1963). Diplomacy: non-existent currently and handled by events and decisions. I don't know how could it be improved. Events, decisions, ahistorical outcomes: more, please. Axis victory, total Allied/Soviet victory, various smaller event chains (i.e. Rep Spain wins civil war and now what?). Fixing some current and pointless events (we have leftover authoritarian US elections, but there's no chance for the US to even become one).

Last, but not least: remove zombie Kolchak from Siberian state.

I would love to have the pop ups appear in a list on the right. When I am all over the world the pop ups make me pause. I have my history open so i can track below so maybe i gotta get better at that. I would love to put my country on AI auto for war as once you dominate and clean up and your AXIS powers are huge. Its such a good game. Maybe with brigades

This would be great for me actually. I modified the special units to fight and move much better in rough terrain and in bad weather and thus make them much more useful for many nations. Seeing weather and terrain in the same filter would really add to this.
btw thats been done in the recent Cross of Iron mod for HOI2

I think the best thing that could possibly happen is for a standalone game to be put in the works, using many of Darkest Hour/HOI 2's mechanics and gameplay features, but build up entirely from scratch on a different, more modern engine. Maybe Kaiserreich the game?

Since we're all just fucking around and having a good time imma hit you all with my DH2 wish list.
I'll be assuming that this game will be made ground up but very much in the spirit of DH:

1. Roughly twice the provinces. (A little less than half the provinces of HoI3)
2. Three levels of river thickness. (So that its not like now, either river=yes or river=no)
3. The way supply travels over water in current DH, it should travel that way in DH2 even over land. And be able to be disrupted by bad infrastructure, bombings and partisans.
4. Some improvement to the supply system that would mean Italy cannot put 120 militia division in Africa and overrun Egypt.
5. "Anti-Partisan Duty" order allows you to select an area, not necessarily just 1 province+every connecting one, and that unit will automatically hunt partisans there both through lowering the partisan risk but also moving to kill, like in older paradox games like I think eu3 and vicky2?
6. Same with naval and air missions. When starting the mission I want to be able to select provinces that I want included freely, unlimited by the regions the game has defined.
7. Instead of Militia, Infantry, Motorized, Cavalry, Marines, Mountaineer, Paratrooper, to have a system like Advanced Tactics Gold. (Have enough trucks with your infantry to carry all of them? Motorized. Horses? Cavalry. The rest is not exactly defined, but the mix of equipment (about 4-5 choices, so not overwhelming) decides what the unit is suitable for. Basically similar to a mod for Darkest Hour that only has base infantry and you use "brigades" to customize it, except done better than can be done with mods.
8. Ability to bomb airfields and destroy enemy air force on the air field.
9. Bridges over rivers, and ability to to blow them up in retreat.
10. Forrest that can grow on hills.
11. Some way, that I cannot figure out how, that the Japanese war in China can play out somewhat historically. Because within DH, as we have seen from countless mods, there's been a few workarounds to try to simulate it, but no success in making it work organically.
12. Improved AI would of course be super fun, especially if it can surprise you.
13. "Rare Materials" is a very general term including rubber and various metals both. Would be nice to have it split up into 3-4 different things.
14. Food being a resource and not a part of consumer goods for civilians and supplies for armies.
15. HQ's being able to command units more than 1 tile away, but just specific ones. Just the divisions assigned to that HQ. Those divisions could get a little colour box that corresponds to the HQ next to them.
16. With my idea 5 and 15, a concept is emerging that I think would be really cool. Just like you assign air units to an air base to do specific missions, or naval units, or army units (doing anti-partisan work or not) That area would have the general/admiral. So you'd have a manageable amount of military leaders to get to know by name, and the game would naturally be more organized and tidy (Which is a good counter to the inevitable chaos of the war)
17. 1933 as the "default" start date. WW2 going into the cold war (which goes hot) in a fun way.

Some pretty big wishes but a man can dream :)

Obviously there are people who prefer hoi4, that tries to balance complicating supply and production with simplifying deployment while turning technology into a simplified maze that omits the detail of actual tech companies and inventors. It went from being a data focused, map-based wargame to being 'look what our graphics devs can do'. What I have is just my opinion.

But I'm happy with the amount of provinces in Darkest hour. There are hundreds of km between locations, and units can be anywhere along that axis. Perhaps it could be better displayed, -especially in combat. But the game moves slow enough as it is. More provinces will slow it down to a crawl. That could work in singleplayer. I guess I'm overly focused on multiplayer.

Just my opinion. If you want more operational movement, there are operational level games, which I also like. But I think relying on battlefield leaders is more accurate from a national leader role.

Hoi4 turned it all on it's head. I don't know what the player's role is anymore. It's a game of 'who's the best bureaucrat' instead of who's the best strategic-level strategist. They 'de-wargamed' it. And I'm a wargamer. So that takes me out of that mix.

It seems there's now a symbiotic relationship between what's good for SP and what's good for MP; what's good for RPGers and what's good for wargamers. It doesn't have to be that way. It's just that this thing called 'HOI' isn't big enough for both games.

Isn't that just like HOI4?

100% agree.
