"The only one who can stand up to the Awakened Empire is..."

"The Isolationists"

"..."

"We've got to try at least"

*Intergalactic call*

"Leave us alone!"

*Hangs up intergalactic call*

"...we're doomed"

Actually reminds me of a previous office MP, where an AFE wrecked havoc amongst the other players. I was unable to help, despite having the second largest fleet in the galaxy, since I had just adjusted my goverment and the Egaltiarians were short 1.5% support to allow me to do perform an ethic switch.
...people were VERY close to not allowing me to play as Inward Perfectionists in the future. :D

The joke here is that the AE decided, against all reason, to attack me after whipping the fanatic purifiers. Had they just kept gobbling up the rest of the galaxy, there was nothing I could do until I got enough influence to swap ethos and civics. I was fanatic pacifist/agrarian idyll/inward perfection, so even just swapping out either the ethos or the civic by themselves wouldn't have allowed me to intervene in any meaningful way. (No one was going to accept a defensive pact; everyone hated me.)

Then the AE learned why I hadn't been attacked in a century. And I wanted to stay under my core system limit. How did it end?

Reminds me a bit of a weirder game of mine. I used a 4 ethic points mod, and somehow this resulted in a fanatic xenophobe, spiritualist, and pacifist empire, which decided that it was a good idea to be a fanatical purifier. Result was that it constantly declared wars but was unable to do anything but humiliate others.

Lol. We declare war on you with the stated goal of having you kneel before us as we read off a 3 hour list of reasons why you're slimy xeno scum and should feel bad about yourself!

See you on the battlefield, snailiens!

Couldn't they at least cleanse worlds? Or did the AI get confused?

Fanatical Purifiers cannot use liberate planet or subjugate empire war demands, pacifists can't use cede or cleanse planet. Humiliate is literally the only thing they could use game mechanics-wise. I wonder though, were they able to use armageddon-bombardement? Guess I'll have to try that nonsensical combo myself :p

That's the beauty of modding: sometimes you get hilarious results, unintentionally or not.

They can cleanse if they are xenophobes. I did it as Inward Perfection. I was attacked early in the game, and I was running fanatic pacifist. My only options were liberate, humiliate, or cleanse worlds.

That's why everyone hated my inward perfectionists so much this time around. The cleansing I did after being attacked generated hundreds of points in diplomatic penalties with most of the galaxy.

I chuckled... more than I should have, probably.
Now I'm imagining the chorus of Unbidden singing Deja Vu!

Slay the future
Into the present
See my spaceships
In the distance
Try to guess now
What's going on
And the batteries begin to play.
Don't you see your
Exctinction?
The Pummel?
There's come and running again,
Can't you see now
Destruction!
Riding into your home...

Déjà Vu!
I've just been in this place before!
(Higher in the atmosphere!)
And I know it's my time to win!
Killing you!
And our Source's a mystery!
(Standing on my ships!)
It's so good that I've to grin!
Whooooaaa!!
Déjà Vu!
I've just been in this time before!
(Higher on the beat!)
And I know it's a place to come home!
Calling you!
And our Source's a mystery!
(Standing on my ships!)
It's so good that I've to grin!
Yeeeaaaaaah!!

I like that, more pls

Tell me about it.

He'll help you guys find someone to take the losses.

Say what you want about the Ferengi, but they know how to do business with anyone. Even someone who laughs by saying, "Hak, hak, hak!" all the time.

#TrueStory:( (no seriously, I'm borderline worse at this game now than I was when I first started when I'm not playing as machines)

I recently came back to the game after a long stretch, and man, I SUCK. AI fleets half my size shred my doomstacks.

Size as Number of Ship, Naval Cap worth of Ships or Fleetpower?
