I have on occasion been a very sequestered empire finally doing their first subsidization war with an apparently very unpopular empire in the galaxy, and this is very much how it feels when suddenly you get lots of questions marks taking systems that you were going to take and having to muddle through Stellaris's very janky war management system....

Forgive my disbelief, but can you point to where this was showcased?
It was in one of the recent official streams, two or three weeks ago; however in the most recent stream they might have shown it too since they had to scroll down the cityscapes to grab the Wilderness one. I remember seeing the respective Solarpunk diplomatic room available as well.

My plan for when Shadows of the Shroud is released.

Edit: It takes awhile to get that aetherophasic engine fully upgraded. It might be a good strategy to get enough menace to unlock the final stage of the crisis and then wait until after the reckoning to get to stage 5 and start building the engine. Just be sure to destroy all fallen empires before the reckoning so you don't suddenly have awakened empire fleets at your door. The rest of the galaxy will be too busy dealing with the chaos of your actions to stop you.
