So i was very curious how stellaris was gonna run on my MacBook Pro 14 inch with the M1Pro. The good news is it loads even very big mod sets (10GB+) faster than my windows gaming pc does with the same mod set but compressed

The bad news is that the game is unsharp, like all other modern PDX titles minus CK2 for some reason (Picture attached). From reading here and elsewhere I know that it's a typical issue related to the way resolutions work on MacOs. The usage of UI overhaul doesnt affect the issue one bit

What I'd like to know is whether there is a work around for the resolution issue (the game only runs at quarter of the true display resolution and the notch is in the way) and whether PDX has plans to officially support Apple silicon products going forward.

I cant say much more about the performance than that as of now.

Thanks.

Edit 1.:

Interestingly enough running stellaris in fullscreen at 3024x1890 solved the sharpness issue, which it didnt when I tested the game vanilla iirc.

Strictly speaking the M1 is not supported hardware for our games as none of our games have been ported to native M1 code, so we are reliant on Apple's Rosetta emulation for resolution/display issues as well as performance.

It seems unlikely at this stage in this game's lifecycle that will change, I'm afraid - I'd suspect only new games will be supported on the M1 (although I've not heard about say Victoria 3 as yet).

Glad you found a workaround that works for you!

i figured as much but I thought maybe an update to the Clausewitz engine was coming that then in turn would help all current gen titles and to my surprise, ck2 worked by far the best out of the box!

I tested this mostly for benchmarking purposes :D and I ofc understand that the Mac is really not the focus of the development...
