Would be interesting perhaps, but to be honest, I haven't even gotten the new DLC. I'll probably get it soon; the secret religion mechanics seems like a nice way to make the spread of Christianity more interesting, with the possibility to convert for political reasons but keep true to the old gods secretly. I'm also thinking of the conversion of Iceland where it was actually officially accepted (initially) to honour the old gods as long as it was done privately.

So, I'll look at the mechanics in time and see what I could do with them. If you have any ideas for secret societies that might be portrayed, I'd love to hear them!

Do you know what the difference is between Angelcynn and Englisc? I never understood what each was supposed to represent, since there is only a wikipedia page for 'Old English'.

Angelcynn represents the Pre-Viking Age Anglo-Saxon stage, before the Norse influence on that culture. Englisc represents the Anglo-Saxon culture after Norse/Danish influence - in some cases rather Anglo-Danish than Anglo-Saxon (so including names of Norse origin like Þurcytel etc. and other titles, at least in NHO, like Eorl taking precedence over Ealdorman, etc.).

It's not unproblematic to use Angelcynn and Englisc; they basically refer to the same people, but the HIP team has chosen to use the terms as stated above. Several older discussions in this thread may shed more light on the terms and other alternatives if you're interested.

I now own the new DLC, but I haven't looked into any new features for NHO. I've been keeping myself busy, procrastinating during my exam period, by working on my old Migration Period Scandinavia mod for Rome Total War; but if you have any suggestions that you think might improve NHO, I can always look into it - my own creativity has been all spent on the aforementioned project.

Rome 2 ??? a fellow Total War modder???
I'm with DEI team. ;)

Well, I mod Rome 1, have been for years, only a little M2TW as well, but other than that Rome 1 all the way. I played very little Rome 2, but when I did, I used DEI ;-)

Rome 1-Med 2 hands down the most mod friendly Total War games ever, a modder's true paradise.

Have you tried uding this mod with the SWMH EU4 converter? I wanna try a mega campaign and I really like how these mods could model the English melting pot.
I don't know whether or not NHO conflicts with the converter: I haven't tried it. I'd be interested to get feedback about that if you try it out.

Just for your information, the submod currently doesn't change the English melting pot significantly from normal HIP.

Υou probably don't need to update anything but an important bug fixing open beta patch released today mate.
Just to let you know.
Cheers

Any news for an update or new plans ???
Cheers.

I'm away from home most of the time right now, but I do intend to prepare for the next HIP update when I get the time (and inspiration). At least I can take the Icelandic character history back even further, perhaps to the start of the Republic or even as far as I can in order to connect it with the 867 start and the original settlers from Norway.

FYI. There are also plans to break up 867 Britannia into new de_jure kingdoms reflecting the Saxon heptarchy and Cumbric state. Part of it is presently incorporated in the EMF beta.

I made significant progress on the expansion of Iceland, and fixed several issues here and there. I still want to make a complete line of bishops for both Hólar and Skálholt however, and I also want to enhance the Faeroe Islands (a friend of mine especially requested this, and it could be really nice when we get the 1018 bookmark to get some depth there - some nice stories during that period).

I'm actually going to Iceland on vacation next week, so that'll be interesting. I don't think I'll publish a release before then however, and I may wait 'til the next HIP update (so we hopefully get the new bookmark), since most changes won't have much effect for the current bookmarks (aside from a few fixes).

Good to know mate. Have a safe trip to Iceland.;)
