Here's an update for NHO Names and Localisation as well as NHO Icelandic Republic.

Changelog:
Names and Localisation:
- Various fixes, tweaks, and additions (mostly related to Iceland and the Faeroe Islands).
Icelandic Republic:
- Extended the history-files back to 930 (the creation of the Alþingi).
- Completed the line of Bishops for both Skálholt and Hólar.
- Included the major families of the Faeroe Islands during and prior to the Christianisation (from Færeyinga Saga).
- Gave the Faeroe Islands an extra holding (Skúvoy) aside from the main one (Gøta) from 940 and forward (to make it more interesting), but applied modifiers to lower levies, etc.
- Cleaned up the history-files of the merchant republic family holdings in Iceland by making a unique one for each clan.
- Removed the extra tribal holdings in Iceland, standing in for the later holdings, since they are not needed anymore. (The code must've been fixed so the history-files work for barony holdings that were not present from the beginning).
- Fixed, as well as could be, the issue with random dynasties being assigned to lowborn Icelandic characters from the history-files.

NOTE: It's very important to remove any old versions before extracting the new ones (i.e. don't overwrite), especially since files have been rearranged.

I'm looking through your files seeing if we can/should implement any of your additions.

Haven't you forgotten some fathers though? Seems like some of your new additions to your old dynasties have dead-end family connections.

Hmm. That might well be. When adding so many new characters, there's bound to be some mishaps, but I usually spot them when testing and looking through in-game.

There are a few cases of unconnected family-bonds, however.

Most notably the Svínfellinga clan has two unconnected lines: the earlier containing Brennu-Flosi, Kolbeinn, and the daughter-son of Kolbeinn, Sighvatr. Even the connection between Brennu-Flosi and Kolbeinn is uncertain; Kolbeinn could have been a son of Flosi Kárason, the son of Brennu-Flosi's niece. The second line, Sigmundr-Jón-Ormr-Sigmundr-Jón-Ormr-Ormr, doesn't have a clear connection to the older line.

Secondly, the line of the Allsherjargoðar is broken in several places even though it is know that they are all related in the male line - we don't know exactly how.

Were those the ones you were referring to? If not, please tell me where you saw an issue.

My main concern was the Allsherjargoðar.

The other one i found, i did manage to find a link back to the earlier part of the tree eventually

I connected this lawspeaker from your files

Code:
1000026210 = {
    name = "Þorkell" #Iceland: 'máni' Þorsteinsson
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 1000026211
    925.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    984.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}

To Ingolfr Arnarsson instead. I don't know if i'm wrong in doing this, but it certainly seems like based on what i could find that was the grandson of Ingolfr Arnarsson

This is how my tree got to look like

Code:
1290015 = {
    name = "Þorsteinn" #Iceland: Ingolfsson
    dynasty = 1043504
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 168504
    878.1.1={
        birth=yes
    }
    939.1.1={
        death=yes
    }
}
1290016 = {
    name = "Þorkell" #Iceland: 'máni' Þorsteinsson
    dynasty = 1043504
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 1290015
    925.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    984.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}

Ingolfr is already in Vanilla

Yes, well, Þorkell is connected to his father and grandfater in my files already:

Code:
1000026210 = {
    name = "Þorkell" #Iceland: 'máni' Þorsteinsson
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 1000026211
    925.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    984.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}
1000026211 = {
    name = "Þorsteinn" #Iceland: Ingólfsson
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 186504
    885.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    944.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}

Ingólfr is "186504" in my norse.txt, seems you've used "168504". Maybe that's the issue?

EDIT: I changes his birth/death dates and put him in the Allsherjargoða-dynasty obviously:

Code:
186504 = {
    name="Ingólfr"
    dynasty=1000008006
    religion="norse_pagan"
    culture="norse"
    845.1.1={
        birth="845.1.1"
    }
    891.1.1={
        death="891.1.1"
    }
}

Looks like you had. Apparently i messed up when typing in the ID myself. Should probably just have Copy-pasted instead :D

I'm still going with a different ID for SWMH, to avoid having several unconnected characters in the family tree. You have quite a lot of characters, that are unconnected to those three that are using that ID as well. If you have any suggestions at dynasty names to replace either 1043504 or the SWMH Allsherjargoðar one (1000100916), you are obviously more than welcome to suggest it

Þorsteinn, Þorkell and his sons are the only ones that I could connect directly to Ingólfr. Þormóðr was the Allsherjargoði when Christianity was introduced.

Code:
1000026212 = {
    name = "Þorsteinn" #Iceland: Þorkelsson
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 1000026210
    945.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    992.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}
1000026213 = {
    name = "Þormóðr" #Iceland: Þorkelsson
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = norse_pagan
    culture = norse
    father = 1000026210
    947.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    1000.1.1 = {
        religion = catholic
    }
    1019.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}

I would keep all of these, along with Ingólfr in the same dynasty.

Then there's the lögsögumaðr, Markús, along with his father, Skeggi, and grandfather, Björn, that is a separate line.

Code:
1000026026 = {
    name = "Markús" #Iceland: Skeggjason
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = catholic
    culture = norse
    father = 1000026156
    1036.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    1051.1.1 = {
        trait = scholar
    }
    1107.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}

...

1000026156 = {
    name = "Skeggi" #Iceland: Bjarnason
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = catholic
    culture = norse
    father = 1000026157
    1002.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    1059.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}
1000026157 = {
    name = "Björn" #Iceland
    dynasty = 1000008006
    religion = catholic
    culture = norse
    980.1.1 = {
        birth = yes
    }
    1037.1.1 = {
        death = yes
    }
}

And lastly there's Guðmundr who married a daughter of the Oddaverja family and had two sons (of whom the one, Þorlákr, had a son, Árni, that became bishop of Skálholt, and a daughter that was the mother of Árni Helgason, the successor of her brother as bishop of Skálholt) and two daughters (with the same name) of whom one married Jón Sigmundsson of the Svínfellinga family and the other married Þorvaldr Gizurarson of the Haukdæla family.

Code:
1000026095 = {
    name="Guðmundr" # Iceland: Ámundason
    dynasty=1000008006
    religion="catholic"
    culture="norse"

I understand your point of view when it comes to keeping it tidy, but for now I'll keep mine in the same dynasty. If I were to split them, I'd probably just make duplicates called the same: Allsherjargoða.

@Erilaz Could you please check compatibility with Gaea sub-mod when you have the time ?
Cheers.

Any chance you could add a port for London? I've always thought that it's a huge drawback that it lacks one, for the sake of trading republics and the extra Port city income.

I could certainly look into it! My current solution for York isn't perfect by any means, and I should simply learn how to make navigable rivers - then we can have that for both the Ouse-Humber estuary and for the Thames; and perhaps more big rivers in Britain and other places that are lacking in those.

Any chance of some non-demonic Norse cults? And if you need someone to put it together, what exactly do you need from them?

Also what is the best year bookmark for the icelandic republic?

Sadly, trading republics can't create trading posts inland, even if there is a navigable river providing access. It's mostly so that London is able to be coastal to have a trading post there.

I've considered it. There's definitely some potential there. Perhaps one could have cults that favour some of the Norse gods over the others; Odin cult, Frey cult, and so on. I haven't looked into the specifics - just how you make new ones and what's required.

Do you have any ideas for cults or how you think they should work?

Also what is the best year bookmark for the Icelandic republic?

Anywhere between 1190 and 1250 is within the height of the Sturlunga Age, and all the feuding going on there if that's what you're interested in. I'm not sure what would be the best year. That depends what you want to do really - you could even start in 867, wait out the initial levy-restriction and then go on to form a pagan merchant republic. Anything's possible.

Ah, I see what you meant. Well, perhaps London could get the same treatment as York. I'll look into it.

Norse cults could be divided in three, Æsir, Vanir and Both

Some keywords about the cults and their gods

Æsir Cult - a war like cult

Odin-war, wisdom, madness/berserk, destiny
Tor-war, fertility
Tyr-war, peace
Frigg-birth, marriage (fertility and mothers love), destiny
Balder-justice, kindness

Vanir Cult - more focus on prosperity rather than war

Njord-richess, sea
Freya-marriage (fertility and love)
Frey- fertility, peace, future,

Suggestion for a Loki cult instead of Hel (Hel is a godess of death, but more netrual nature rather than chaotic Loki)

And then we have Christ as a newly introduced and was worshipped along with the other gods before they were banned.

800 AD Vanir cults were common in Viken, Upplandene, Rygafylki and Dal. Æsir in Håleygafylki, Vestregautland, Austergautland, Skåne, Bornholm, Halland and Jylland. The rest in Scandinavia worshipped both cults (Including Island).

There are suggestions in archeology that cults like Odin and Tor went to war with eachother. So I would suggest that cults should have negative opinion of the other cults.
