Post your character here. Do keep the throne "in the family", though.

And as far as evil tryants go, we have a paranoid de Hauteville King in Burgundy that lets his own vassals get slaughtered so that he can take their lands, a Napolitan skeptic that manipulates the pope for his own amusement, and a vengeful, arrogant, zealous King in Germany who constantly stews about 'the rebels and scum to the south.' A tyrant would find himself among peers. ;)

We're still trying to hash out the crusading rules, but the rest of the house rules can be found scattered about the thread. I can summarize them if you like, though.

Btw, are you playing with any mods or vanilla CK? I ask because with the 1066 bugfix, my copy of CK is getting heavily modded, so I'll need to restore the original files before playing (assuming it uses each player's own files in MP).

The scenario files were heavily modded, but none of the province files, etc, have been touched.

Actually, the first post has most of the rules in place already. The only changes thus far are:

1) You may request vassalization from an AI-controlled realm once per year.

2) You may not take all of the provinces of a PC opponent in a war to wipe them out, unless you also have claims on all their ducal and royal titles.

And, of course, the crusading rules are currently being debated. We're wanting to make them more strick in order to discourage constant crusading, but we haven't settled on anything as of yet.

It is ok with me if anyone subs me. In fact I would be rather happy :) I did support the AI-Gaels during the first session, I hope somebody will do it for my England :)

I can't remember seeing HoG in time for an EU2 MP, ever :( The best he did he was just 10 minutes late... Everybody (including me :rolleyes: ) are late sometimes, but we don't make it a habit. So HoG, please be there on time, ok? HoG is btw also a good host, so he could be the back-up-host for Patr if needed next Sunday :)

I've taken a look at the save file. Do you actually give me a new character id, or simply replace the existing ruler (Salamon) with my character? If the latter, can I get the king's marriage annulled since his wife sucks? :D

Easier for the editor if you replace, though you will get his relatives then.

Anyhow, here is my character for the save file:

Code:
character = {
    id = { type = 10 id = 476 }
    dyn = 708
    tag = HUNG
    name = "István"
    date = "10590926"
    gender = male
    religion = catholic
    culture = "hungarian"
    score = { gold = 111.482 prestige = 156.008 piety = 71.286 }
    attributes = {
        martial = 2.000
        diplomacy = 8.000
        intrigue = 9.000
        stewardship = 8.000
        health = 4.000
        fertility = 9.000
        }
    traits = {
        cruel = yes
        deceitful = yes
        selfish = yes
        wise = yes
        hunchback = yes
        proven_accountant = yes
        }
    father = { type = 10 id = 468 }
    mother = { type = 10 id = 637 }
    loyalty = 1.000
    dna = "07070913020010"
    }

Also remove the following:

Code:
    marrige = { primary = { type = 10 id = 476 } secondary = { type = 10 id = 1476 } startdate = { year = 1063 month = january day = 1 } }

Salamon, a poor leader and seemingly infertile in bed, had long been the object of dissatisfaction of many nobles. But tradition was strong, and no-one dared to act against the King... until early 1080. A coup was planned by a group of ambitious nobles who opposed the influence of foreigners and sought to keep the Hungarian crown on an Arpad head. On January 29th, they arranged for Salamon to be poisoned at a banquet. Sidelining Salamon's cousin Geza, the Duke of Slovenia, they placed Istvan, Salamon's youngest brother, on the Hungarian throne.

Istvan was the youngest son of King Andras I the Catholic, born only a year before the King's death. Because of his hunched back, he was kept out of the public eye for years, spending most of his time in his private quarters studying books and brooding alone. He grew up to be quite clever and skilled with numbers, but his selfish, scheming personality and weak physique were his faults.

On February 1st, the young hunchback was crowned King Istvan the Second. His first act upon ascending the throne was to have the men implicated in his brother's poisoning castrated and beheaded.

If it would be a starting character it would have three traits too many, but pointwise it's completely right, so at least I think it's okay to have few extra traits if it is good for RP / story reasons. Especially as we are already into the game and everybody has started getting additional traits already.

HEY! That's Wulfgang's sister!

I'll remember that slight, dog. (Adds Istivan's name to his 'Must Get Revenge On' list. ;) )

Aww, man. And I was going to offer an alliance. ;)
And technically she was Salamon's wife, not Istvan's. And she is still the Hungarian steward (until I find a better one :p).

Btw, is the rule for not marrying outside your own country still in effect? I looked around and it looks like there's not a single woman in Hungary younger than 30, since Hungary is so small. Can I get an exception for my first king's marriage? :D

I'll just pretend I didn't hear that last little bit. ;)

No, that is not in effect any longer. You may marry anyone you like.

We don't have any assassination rules.

However, we agreed that if you are the papal controller, you cannot excommunicate children. I think we should extend it to adults who don't hold titles or make the age of 20 the starting, because someone may just wait until a child is 16, then excommunicate the day they turn 16, before they can get any piety to prevent it.

Well, considering that Excommunicating is so easy to make into very abusable plans, for example one that I thought up: High intrigue fellow kills a king in a rich kingdom, whose heir is still a courtier. Papal Controller excommunicates the new king, who likely has 0 piety, as courtiers don't tend to accumulate piety. Voilá, big kingdom ripe for picking apart.

So we could agree that you need sound RP-reasoning for excommunicating anyone, preferably a reason that will make it to AAR.

Yes, that's good, surprised that you're saying that, considering you're the papal controller ;).
