Switch from 1.09 to 1.08???

I am playing the GC with Patch 1.09. I have recently decided to try my hand at Multi-Player. The MP group I will be joining only plays with 1.08 because of MP stability issues.

My question is thus: Is it possible to download the 1/08 patch and overwrite 1.09? Will my save game suffer?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice...
 
I do not think that the 1.08 patch is still available for download.
I will move this to the mutiplayer forum as someone there may still have it saved (as I have saved the UK patches) and may be able to let you have it.

As to your other question -

Patch 1.08 will not overwrite all the corrections done by 1.09.
Also any games saved under patch 1.09 will possibly give trouble under patch 1.08. It all depends on your state of play etc.

Try going this way (assuming you get the 1,08 patch):-

Save the saved games to a seperate folder or disk
Uninstall EU completely.

Reinstall EU
Apply the 1.08 patch
Copy the EU folder and rename to (e.g.) "EU1.08"

You now have 2 copies of the EU program both with the 1.08 patch.

Now use the 1.09 patch
(It will only patch the copy in the EU folder as it will not recognise the one you have renamed "EU1.08".

You now have 2 copies of the EU program 1 1.08 patched and the other 1.09 patched.

Put the saved "save game" files (remember them?) into the one that is 1.09 patched and continue playing as normal.

To play multiplayer (using 1.08) open the "EU1.08" folder and use the EU execute to start the game.


OK folks - now who can let him have a copy of the 1.08 patch?

I wish someone asked for the UK 1.08 - I have that one!

The new patch is due out (bugs permitting) at the end of the month. It is supposed to correct the multiplayer bugs I believe. Might be worth waiting for it.
