I don't know if this will have any bearing on it, but I've been told--both by an IT friend as well as Adelphia Customer Support, my internet provider--that the WindowsXP Service Pack 1 is an ABSOLUTE NO-NO to download, as it is bug riddled.

I run it quite happily - including using it for all the latest Graphical games - there have been lots of downloadable updates to it since the release. I find it very stable.

Well, it wasn't some newbie who didn't know better... he seemed to know exactly want he was doing... and probably the consequences....

Screen problem

The screen is "blinking" every 3-5 seconds or so running the game on my laptop. It's just a very short blink, like the whole screen is going black/loses graphical output for some ms and then back to normal. Nothing seems affected gamewise. Real annoying, and I feel it perhaps could damage my LCD screen, or hardware in the long run. Anyone has the same problem on a laptop?

ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0881)
Win2kPro SP3

Well, I don't think so. If the refresh rate was the thing it would affect every other game/application I run on the machine. I think it is a software related issue... screen draw routines or something.

I believe this is a CTD thread right?

Well I have a CTD problem. The same as I have with EU2 when I run it in 1024/768, it load the first screen and then back to desktop without ending the game...I just have to click really fast with my mouse at the HOI/EU2 button to get back into the game. ...Well EU2 runs fine in 800/600 but HoI doesn't. I haven't begun playing the actual game yet...just the tutorial. And many times the game crashes to desktop when I either start a tutorial or end a tutorial....but also sometimes inside the tutorial. I have the music running from the CD.

Oh yeah I forgot I have installed the 1.1 patch! And I have the scandinavian version..

My specs are:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Proffessional, Version: 5.1.2600
Build 2600

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1526MHz

Motherboard: ECS K7S5A

RAM: 256MB

DirectX: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810)

Graphiccard: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 32.0 MB (6.13.10.3082
(English))

Soundcard: Aureal Audio (emulated)

Ralli this reminds me a lot of my problems. The game just crashes and I must rename the music-folder to get in to the game at all(or else - CTD..)

So right now I only play with no music and try to save at least every 5 secs to avoid a crash.

Same problem with music and CTD as everyone else here. But since it seems it's because of me using DirectX 8.2 I hope Patric finds that quick solution soon. ;)

Lets start a new thread for each problem so it is easier to keep everything organized.
