Starting with the important category first? Unconventional but I approve. :D

In order in which they were voted...and even in some cases how they were voted. ;)

And that will do it, folks! The voting phase has come to a close and we ended with 19 total voters!

Allow me the chance to count our final ballots and double check the results and we shall see our first winners announced today. From there, I will reveal one more per day in a separate thread each to offer your thanks, congrats and discussions of the various works. So stay tuned and keep your eyes focused on the General Discussion area. Here we go...
I’m sorry I didn't get around to vote. :( RL is a bitch sometimes. Kept promising myself to vote tomorrow.

Today saw Character, Newcomer and WritAAR revealed. Y'all have to wait for tomorrow to see the ultimate prize...AAR of the Year. It's a big post. ;)

Thanks again to the voters! :)

Begun over three months ago, this process is finally at an end with the reveal of our 2021 AAR of the Year. Yet another brilliant season and before I say anything else, I must and wish to thank every single one of you that offered votes and put forward your favorite AARs of this last year! That, in and of itself, shows dedication and love for this place that we call AARland. Every single nominated work and writAAR thanks you for remembering and nominating the work they have produced during 2021.

It does not go unnoticed by myself that our year end awAARding season happened to coincide with a terrible moment in the world for so many. I know well that we hold both Ukrainian and Russian membAARs, as well as many throughout Europe especially in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Turkey and the Baltics (and let's not forget the Finns.) While I might have held off listing these winners and rewarding these fine efforts due to such, I refuse to bow down to such aggression. I am not going to allow some asshole to destroy or disrupt our hard built works and the celebration of it. We don't have to, and while more than unfortunate, to allow such would give a win that is not deserved. There is no doubt that the real game is being played and is more than frightening, but this forum and AARland specifically has weathered as much and more during these last 20 years.

Your efforts during this past year deserved a celebration and I hope that we have done such in this process. I am proud to have seen 19 voters to reward these excellent works and while I would, of course, like more...those of you that shared your voice were most definitely heard! I thank you and all of AARland thanks you. I know well that our writAARs do!

And rewarded they were! Only two were given out to last year's winners (and BWB who got a 3rd from this process) so we do not lack for love. It is spread around and I genuinely love to see so many works listed and applauded (despite how much time it may take to link to them...I feel your pain there. ;) ) Every single one of our writAARs and AARs listed has proved that we remain active, strong and moving ever forward as a community. While I have my complaints about our host (bring CK3 in now!) I am more than thankful for this platform and what has been built over these long many years and continues to build every day, every week, every month and every year!

Any thoughts, corrections, desires or all else about the process should be placed here and I/we will listen to it. This is YOUR awAARd and I wish it to be as inclusive and agreeable as possible. I will try and be more mindful next year when the 2022 contest begins and detail what each awAARd is for, but I am loathe to choose for you what you might choose for yourself. As I say...your voice matters. Every single vote!

I want to thank you...all of the voters. And I want to congratulate you...all of the winners. Another successful season that only makes me look forward to next year when we look to the works of 2022. We are not going to stop and your efforts both in writing and voting prove it! Excellence all round and I am joyful to be a part of this world, this platform, this AARland. Well done all...because YOU deserve it!

Now go and comment. :)

A fine speech @coz1 , though I would expect nothing less from a man of your literary talents, with sentiments we can all agree with. I must also add my voice to those congratulating you for another excellent job running theses awards, thanks for all the work you put into these it is very much appreciated (and not just because I won something this year ;) )

Many thanks for the kind words. AARland has brought to me innumerable benefits in my time here and this is the least I can do to help give back. And now @stnylan is shouting at me from his flat in Somerset, "Well...you could give more comments you silly yank SOB!" He's not wrong and would probably say it a lot more artfully than I have attributed to him. ;)

NB - I spoke with our illustrious stynlan quite recently and he is well.

Thank you for giving an update on @stnylan. Even his signature inspires me. @coz1, have you ever given any thought to starting a Hall of Fame where we can honor the greats who may be less active or have been active many years (at least ten)?

It does me as well. There is reason that he is one of my best friends.

That is a contentious subject and there are some few threads looking at such a thing in the fAARq. It has certainly been discussed over the years. None that were satisfactory to the populace. I know who my greats are. Pretty sure everybody else does too. We do not lack in awesomeness.
