I can answer on first question: Because there were 3rd Balkan War between Greece and Bulgaria in 1934. after border conflict and Greece won in that war.

And I can answer the 2nd question. It was actually the Hejaz who united the peninsula, and not Jebel Shammar. They were able to gain independence from the Ottomans in The Great Arab Revolt of 1921, and would defeat the Kingdom of Nejd to claim the whole enchilada. It is actually a plot point and if things are not managed carefully a foreign power might use the Saudis to harm Hejaz from within.

Here have a quick description for Brittany, which becomes independent during the French Civil War and must find a way to survive the coming world conflict!
Brittany has long been an autonomous cultural region in France, and now has found itself in uncharted waters. Once a part of the Roman Empire in 51 BC, by the 5th century large amounts of immigration from Wales and South West Britain under the legendary figure of Conan Meriadoc would make Brittany part of a Celtic world. The peninsula would be united under Nominoe, who became Duke of Brittany and is regarded as Tad ar Vro (father of his country) by Breton nationalists. Annexed into the Kingdom of France in 1532, Brittany would retain significant political and cultural autonomy, such as an exemption from Gabelle, a tax on salt. After this Brittany experienced an economic golden age as a common stop on many large trade routes in the Eastern Atlantic. All of this changed during the French Revolution, as Brittany was split into multiple departments and its privledges revoked. Through the 19th century the region would remain strongly conservative and Catholic in the face of the republic and the policy of Franchization which almost destroyed the Breton language. The rise of the Celtic Revival in Ireland would spark a similar revival in Brittany, and a corresponding rise in nationalism. The Seiz Breur art movement and the Breton National Party have contributed to a growing movement, which has now seized power in the chaos of The French Civil War. Now it is on these leaders to preserve their nation in the face of whatever emerges from Paris, and to carve out Brittany's place in the community of nations.
What ideology is Brittany - I'm guessing Social Conservative? (Incidentally, what are the ideology names here? I noticed the Ottomans are Integral Nationalist, which I assume is equivalent to Fascist or National Socialist, and presumably one doesn't have Leninist or Stalinist either...)
What kind of foreign policy options do they have, and what are their relations with the other French factions like?

Faction names for left authoritarian regimes are iffy and subject to change but leninism is radical socialism and stalinist is communist.
Brittany is a very Catholic and conservarive region in 1936, owing to the substantial privileges thay had under the ancien regime. So social conservative they lean. As for the other Frances that is a major decision for whichever France wins the civil war. France might want its cores back, or might be content with a loyal autonomous puppet.
If Brittany wont bend the knee they can turn to London for some protection if France gets aggressive, and I have a couple ideas stewing between Brittany and Ireland, as Celtic siblings.
Right. Would I be correct in thinking that Integral Nationalist maps to Fascist and Ultranationalist to National Socialist, or is it the other way around? Also, I noticed that on the dev diaries Ultranationalist seems to be spelled with a capitalised 'N' for some strange reason.
So apart from Spain supporting the Monarchists and the UK maybe protecting Brittany, what other foreign interventions in the FCW are possible? And will the war always end with a united continental France (possibly sans Brittany), or is balkanisation a possible outcome?
Strange. It is working for me. I'll make a point of it soon to get a mirror or two in case this keeps happening.
A number of powers get the opportunity to seize colonies. I am thinking that if they don't do that they can get events to send volunteers to their chosen faction. As for right now there is only the whole France and Brittany, though I do not leave Balkanization entirely out of the question.

Would have been an interesting idea if Michael Collins had survived as leader of the Irish Free State. We'll never know what he had in mind over partition. Judging by how he looked after Northern based leaders in the Free State Army, I'm guessing he thought it was only temporary.
I have almost all of next Friday put aside to finish up the balancing and run some more tests!
It is very tempting to put him back in, and I'll consider it in the future if we mess around with the Irish backstory some more, but I wanted to give Mulcahy his time to shine.

So I downloaded and launched the game and it was all good up until I selected France and it loads a quater of the way and then just crashes don't know why it doesn't say anything before that it just crashes to desktop. I think this might be the problem.

Well if you delete the symbols  it should work, as far as I know - unless there are other instances of this in the files.
