Seems like this alliance is paying off already. Let's hope your alliance is ready to take on the Unbidden if they start heading your way.

Wow I'm liking this new threat. It'll be interesting to see who can take them down

One thing that's been bugging me. For directional purposes I wasn't aware there was an east, west, south and north. I can't remember what the directional axes are but I'm pretty sure this isn't it

It's merely to make it easier for us non spacefaring earthlings to understand Asatahene.;)

Yes, just using arbitrary directions makes it easier to make sense of the map.

In other news, I wonder how much differently the Unbidden will feel in Asimov? Since in Clarke, borders are closed by default, only those who neighbor the Unbidden and their allies can get in to fight them. But in Asimov, with all borders open, more countries might try and contribute earlier to the fight.

That said, I can't update my game to Asimov, as it breaks my save. So this game will be finished out in 1.1

Finally found the end. I spent a good couple of hours reading up on this. Light Speed Lombards, nice. Subscribed.

Test ships equipped with a prototype of the "Gireaux Drive" successfully jumped to and from Alpha Centauri in 2180 AD, marking mankind's first successful interstellar, faster-than-light expedition.

Only for all members of each expedition to be eaten by mindworms, I suppose?

Holding the Lines

By the middle of the 24th century, it was clear that the Unbidden represented a formidable foe in the galactic west. They had beaten back the fleets of multiple local star empires, and annihilated the homeworld of two major civilizations; even going so far as to cause the ultimate genocide of the Ess'Jaggon people. After nearly 40 years in the galaxy, they left their neighbors with little choice but to make a heavy commitment to fighting them off. It was the ancient Eruxo Ascendancy that led the way -- while the Eruxo had suffered a defeat during their first clashes with the Unbidden, they returned with a much larger portion of their ancient fleet in the 2360's, boasting a newly overwhelming level of naval power that caught the extradimensional invaders by surprise. In 2361, the Eruxo successfully purged the Unbidden from the Lando Sector, paving the way for their continued advance from the southeast.

At the same time, a large fleet movement was organized by the Yssravannar Republican Stars, the first empire to successfully defeat an Unbidden fleet after their arrival. Gathering the full might of their considerable navy -- one of the largest known in the galaxy at the time -- the Yssravannar surged into Unbidden-controlled space from the west, beating back two different Unbidden assault fleets in the process.

By the end of the 2360's, the Unbidden were facing renewed counter-attacks from every direction. In the southwest, the Yssravannar Republican Stars and Imperial Tendra-Zuhn Regions formed a close front together; in the southeast, the Eruxo's powerful fleet of ancient warships continued to move closer; and from the north, a reinvigorated Ikarzuri Polity descended down toward the heart of the Unbidden space. Slowly but steadily, the Unbidden were being forced into a smaller and smaller region of space as they attempted to slow down the rapid loss of their conquests, which had at first seemed so easy to capture. By the early 2370's, it seemed that the invasion of these Unbidden was about to end.

Earth's War Machine

The Unbidden were located far from Coalition-controlled space, but their presence had still been felt in President Reagan MacDonnell's decision to abandon their former Karabnar and Genoggian allies in the Free Star Alliance in favor of joining the Federation of Democratic Stars with the powerful Celimy. MacDonnell, now advancing well into old age, had orchestrated an elaborate military build-up in response to the potential threat of the Unbidden. Several additional deep space defense platforms had been constructed in the area surrounding Earth, adding multiple layers of defense over the Human homeworld. Great deals of research time and grant money were devoted to enhancing weapon systems, including all-new torpedo and laser models to compliment the newly-developed lance weaponry equipped on many of the Coalition's newest warships and stations.

As the star nations of the galactic west beat the Unbidden further and further back, the urgency of the extradimensional threat became less and less relevant on Earth. People quickly forgot the possibility of an Unbidden invasion, and suddenly found themselves with a highly-developed military and no immediate enemy. The last several election cycles had seen more and more hawkish politicians come into office, the result of public uneasiness about the Unbidden's presence -- these same hawkish leaders now had the freedom to direct their enhanced military might as they saw fit -- and so, in the mid 2370's, they prepared to make another strike against the Bokasherans, hoping to drive them further into minor-power status and continue to posture the FDS against its other neighboring rival alliances.

Wow, it seems the Unbidden are burning out quickly. So much for my worries over them.

Wow, these extradimensional invaders are kinda scrubs. I'm sure the peace-loving government of Earth wouldn't think of using its mounting arsenal for any other purposes. That would be ridiculous. ;)

That was lucky, I guess. If the Unbidden had overrun all and was so far off, they'd be virtually unstoppable.
