Sounds very interesting. Are you planning to do something to give the colonial revolters a boost such as revolting events or population boost events to give them more of a chance to compete against the Europeans?

@boshko: I tried coming up with ways to do revolting events, but Kaigon and I (well, mostly Kiagon :^)) decided that the events would just be a bitch to program and add very little actualy value to the scenario. My idea was to fire an event when rebels controlled three of the six provinces of the hidden revolter in which option a would be to release the revolter as a vassal and option b would trigger more revolts. The problem with this is that in order to make the event work, I would need to make events for every province combination, that is, 1+2+3, 1+2+4, 1+2+5, etc. This is a large number of events for ONE nation, let alone the 150+ nations I would have to program for. If anyone can come up with a better way of doing this, it would be nice. In the meantime the simplest solution is probably to just make some generic "colonial revolt" random events, although I think they already exist in the random event file.

No progress since Sunday...this past week has been hell, and this weekend looks only marginally better. Had I worked through the week, I would have been done this Wednesday with adding European nations. Now we're looking at next Sunday, if I have time to work both weekends. I have some very boring stuff to do (i.e., non-design stuff like leaders and the national events) if anyone wants to pitch in. I will update the progress picture in the first post as I go, so keep checking that.

problem, maybe someone can help me out. the scenario crashes to desktop as soon as "scipts" is supposed to load, and there is no error message. everyone was working last week, and the only thing i have changed is a handful of nations.

i already ran a bracket checker and all files are perfect.

i checked for navies in provinces without ports but there were none.

any ideas? i'm really at a loss. i'll keep working on nations, but it's kinda pointless if i can't load up the game.

i just had the same problem with a scenario i'm working on.

check to make sure you don't have a province owned or controlled by more than one nation.

make sure every owned province has a city.

make sure you don't have duplicate city entries. this is the one that it took me the longest to find... i knew i had 404 provinces owned in the scenario, and on a whim, i ran a check and discovered i had 405 "city = " entries in my scenario file!

make sure you didn't accidentally type a colon instead of a semicolon if you modified any csv files. (though that usually gives you a DB error and an actual error message.)

i finally found the problem, a duplicate city. thanks, onion. and thanks to kaigon, again, for his unerring wisdom and guidance.

by sunday night i'll be done with all but scandinavia and britain for adding nations. when i'm done, i'll release a small version with what i have so far. it will be playable but will not have the stuff in the to do list in the first thread. when i get all that stuff put in i'll release what i hope will be the final version

ok, new problem...this time the scenario stops loading almost exactly halfway through. again, no bracket problems.

i changed what would be greece around a bit, as well as the culture setup just a tad. and, as promised, the 21 countries i added since friday.

like i mentioned before, almost all of the CtD's i've gotten have been from missing or duplicate cities in the scenario *.inc file. i've also found you can generally gage where in the file the bug is by how far along the loading status bar is. (so check for something in the middle of your scenario.)

it doesn't crash, though...it just hangs forever. i will look again, but last time the duplicate city thing was causing a ctd.

oh, and in case this wasn't clear, i changed the country and culture setups but not the pictures...next weekend i'll do a much larger update to the post

The only time I've ever got a game that hangs like that was in Initialising Scipt, and that was in CK. So I can't help you.

i've added all the european nations to the game, so what is available now is a barely playable version. the only nations that might offer any sort of real experience are the migrant nations, since they have all their events done. the only thing with them is that their culture nation (not the event to become one) is still in the works. i have two more days this weekend (yay labor day) to get more stuff done, and so i'll probably add the colonial revolters. if i get them done by monday night i'll post a new beta version. again, if you do download this version you will not be getting the entire nsis experience :^) i only suggest downloading this if you plan on checking it out or to help me beta test.

EDIT: last minute changes are taking slightly longer than expected...if you're reading this saturday night wait a bit :^)

some new things aside from that:
1. two european nations have turned into migrant nations
2. the religious reformations changed for those 6 provinces (no more conversions)
3. culture setup changed A LOT...now cultures are 5 nations (15 provinces)

thanks for everyone's support...strut i'm still waiting for those names :^)

I've downloaded it but it complains about "options\option_Diplomat" being missing or something. Nice start screen though.

EDIT: It works now.

Oh, yes, the names. I've been away from the forum for a while... :eek:o I'll send them in the morning.
