We only think that absurd as we can't see the big picture. Pope is looking for the Prester John! Muslims must be trapped between two christian spheres, or there is never hope for safety of the Holy Land. What? A letter? The great expedition drawn from soldiers of the Cross is safer!

I've started playing CK2 recently, so I don't know if that's common or not, but anyways...

Yeah, right, I'm on my way...
In one of my games Pope declared a crusade for Croatia. Freaking Croatia. And it was before the Crusade for Jerusalem.

Will freely admit, Ive played CK2 for far longer than i care to admit at this point. Ive actually had the Pope Crusade for Bengal on day 0 of the crusades popups, and this is with Constantinople having been eaten by the Abbasid and France by the Umads. This has been going on for a while.

Republic of Castille?

A regular republic, not even a merchant republic.
I checked a bit later and it had split apart, with Leon still a republic.

Hey, it is only 1077, and the woman already created a giant republic out of her family's multiple kingdoms?

Genius!

Well the game isn't even supposed to have female republican rulers, so there's no localization for it :p

And honestly I love the absurd crusades. It makes the game more interesting and fun! Lets see how many of my men will make it from Italy to Bengal without dying :D

Just put them on boat, land on coasts of Syria and then move them there. They won´t take much attrition. Also, I heard that manna is quite common on crusades (spoiler: it is not, but you have to tell your soldiers something when they march through those deserts), so don´t worry, God will take care of you.

So, are you telling us that this game knows about its own bugs?
Guys, I´m scared.
Beware the game! it knows all, and plays with your fears!
If it felt like it, it would spawn the mongols 400 years early to hear you scream!
And when you least expect it the Byzantine empire will inherit the HRE!

Realistically, this option was added to fix a bug without a complex fix. It's always amusing though

It's not exactly a bug, but rather an unavoidable, though rare situation, when a prisoner is released while the event ticks. I believe both would have to happen on a same day, but correct me if I'm wrong. So of course it's reasonable to have that option appear then, since throwing an prisoner to oubliette after releasing would likely have some more or less unwanted results.

Going off of the earlier "Karling/Abbasid collapse" in my current CK2+ Byzantine game, the Abbasids collapsed about 5 minutes after the start (867 I believe) into many, many warring states until I came to clean up the mess. I wasn't even responsible.

I was envious of my game where the abbasids and Karlings went boom in about 200 years.

You have no idea how envious of your game I am.....

Lol, I'm from Poland and I didn't even know about such expression. Kinda sad it's accurate.
It just keeps happening, too! If this dynasty manages more than 25 successions in the next 50 years, I will swear fealty to them. Clearly they're the most ambitious bloodline ever!
