Not paying attention to Europe as I am in the Byzantine Empire in the Alexiad Playthrough. All the sudden I see a massive grey blob encompassing Europe, that is a heretical HRE. the first Fratecelli was Matilda of Toscana who quickly converted the King of Lotharingia. The Lotharingian became Emperor shortly afterwards and began converting the HRE. The pope lost Rome and is currently hiding in Scotland. Now Catholicism is divided between the Northern and Western Catholics and the Eastern Catholics (Now Poland is gone so its just the Hungarians). Also France is now down to mostly just Aquitaine and a few scattered counties. IT TRUELY IS THE END TIMES.

I always wonder why in the game the Fraticelli heresy sometimes spreads like wildfire. A heresy that takes the Evangelical counsel for poverty to the extremes would, as in real life, probably not catch on.

I'm able to demand that someone should stop backing my plot to kill my wife while she's in jail for plotting to kill one of my daughters (with another marriage) ... huh?

On a similar topic, I am proud to introduce to you the AI-generated Hurufi Heresy! No idea how it happened. It was very powerful until the end of the game.

And to keep on the religious note, as a catholic I thank Paradox for this little easter egg:

jp1al.jpg

though this JP1st lasted longer than the real one! Didn't have the chance to see JP2 though.

May I ask what's the Easter Egg here? John Paul is one of the generic Papal names, and last time I saw him he married the queen of Aquitaine and met his end executed by my Lollard king. Still, he ruled a good 20-something years.

Effixel, when running Observer games (at least when i hammered through a handfull of them in 1.06) it wasn't unusual for Sunniislam to completely disappear, sure that one is Shia, which aren't getting painful MA penelties from getting HW spamed in Iberia by zealous French

Well simply that the first pope called John Paul was elected in 1979 (and the second as well), which makes this name somewhat unusual for the period of the game. Also pope names in game are all italian, as far as I remember. Not this one. Which lead me to think that it was a kind of an Easter Egg. Or maybe they just took the names of all the popes from Peter to now and fed the name file with them.

OK got it. So yes, they just took the list of the popes and added them into the file, regardless of the first time it was used. That what I was surprised. Actually the list in the game data goes from the most used name to the least used. So no easter egg after all.

Also, just reading on wiki that John Paul 1st was the first pope to use a new name since Pope Lando in... 913. So it's even weirder to see it in game. That still makes it a strange screenshot then :)

Mongol Patriarch of Constantinople moved to Timurid Khiva.. Pretty confusing, because the Orthodox Mongols (GH and Timurids) are nowhere near Constantinople.

Frankish Andalusia, Fraticelli Scotland/Norway, Castillian Galicia in Celtica, Free Koln. Most of the duchies on the outskirts of the mongol territories are also mongol, even though several of them are Caucasian looking. Bosnia in Tripoli -.-

Daneland rules the waves (and sourthern France). Breton culture in Ireland? Scottish culture in Scandinavia. Greek is only ruling in Sicily and Croatia. The rest of the world is pretty much Mongol, with some Egyptians and Levantines in the Sultanate of Egypt. Abysinnia is now totally Bedouin while the Arab Peninsular is now Mongol. Italian has moved west. The Greeks in Croatia, by the way, look Mongolian.

Croatians are catholic so... More interesting should be the Byzies still exist but capital is a part of croatia and it is not constantinople. Also the king is 'tanned'

Croatia has been a part of Byzantine empire since near the start of that game, so it is a revolt. Also he is "tanned" because at one stage Croatia's capital was in de jure Jerusalem, before I kicked them out.

Just what I needed another 3.8 gold...
You have a vassal that is the games equivalent of Good Guy Greg and you have the audacity to complain about it?
You should be happy that he isn't plotting to kill or depose you
